On this incredible tour, you'll follow the footsteps of the mysterious Mayans to discover an ancient lost city. Your expert guide will lead you deep into the exotic forest of the Quintana Roo state that's home to jaguars, monkeys, anteaters and colourful parrots. At its heart you'll discover the hidden Mayan city of Coba. This huge metropolis once housed some 50,000 people and the total built-up area extended over 80 square kilometres. Only about 5% of the city has been excavated, but there's still loads to see and do. Discover the ancient ballgame courts and the role this sacred sport played in Mayan courtly life and philosophy. Explore the buildings that look as though they are on the verge of being reclaimed by the jungle. And finally, climb to the summit of the Great Pyramid of Coba. It's the tallest structure of its type in the Yucatán Peninsula and the last Mayan pyramid that visitors are allowed to climb. Panoramic views of the rainforest stretch out to the horizon from the top of its 120 crumbling steps. A local lunch is also included, followed by a traditional Mayan ceremony in the village.
