The Hundred Pound Surprise !!
Travelled with my wife the first 2 weeks of July. As per usual Thomas Cook flights are bloody awful, getting you there at 3 in the morning. The transfers from Burgas airport are well organised and didn't take long to be greeted , and led to the mini bus. Transfer in takes about 35 mins, and was uneventful. The nice driver of the mini bus ran in the the reception area and checked that it was the right Efir hotel, as this has happened before (a nice touch). Given room key, and then then the £100 surprise. You have to pay this amount to cover breakages in the room (if there are any). So anyone travelling make sure you have this to hand , although I'm sure they will wait until the morning (hang on ! It was morning !). The apartment was very nice, possibly recently furnished and lovely and clean. Main living area (L Shaped settee/bed, table and 4 chairs, unit, TV (don't bother...nothing on !), 2 ring hob, toaster, kettle, utensils (count them , or they will charge...4 of everything), pots, pans, plates etc etc , and a corkscrew (wife happy ….wine !) . Bedroom (double bed (broke on day 2..handyman duly called, came bearing drill and wood, and all fixed in 20 mins). The bathroom has 2 things you need to know about. 1.) there is an immersion heater over the bath. When 2 showers have been taken , then the dial goes back to cold, so beware. 2.) there is a pull cord over the toilet. Do not, repeat , do not pull this thinking its the light switch. Its the SOS cord, so after the Missus thought she was putting the light off, Security duly arrived in 2 mins. Nice balcony with clothes dryer. Bedroom also has 1 set of drawers (x 5) and 1 wardrobe , so not a great amount of room. The pool area is limited for sunbeds, so unless you are prepared to get up at 4.30 -5.00 in the morning, you wont get 1 . I didn't so subsequently spent most days at the beach (lovely beaches...£4 per bed, £4 per brolley, and loads and loads of bars , shops, restaurants to drink/eat/shop at. Directions to beach, leave hotel, turn left till you come to the crossing(you will see Aldo shop opposite). Cross and keep heading straight, both side roads lead to the beach. There is a small bar / cafe ,near the hotel (just opposite the Ivana Palace) called Friends. Its handy and friendly. There is a bus stop outside the hotel. The number 1 bus takes you to Flower Street, and Nessabar. Don't worry about price . Its 60p, however far you go. Shopping is cheap (or so she told me ). Food is ultra cheap..never paid more that £20 for 2 (that's starters, main course and drinks). Beer on its own is giveaway . The most expensive pint I saw was 3 Lev ...£1.40, and there are some for 1 Lev, approx 45p. Supermarkets are open 24 hours, and most importantly, the place feels safe. The Bulgarian people are lovely and always look please to see you/ serve you. Treat them well, and a tip goes a long wayMore

Good base for exploring the area
Arrived early hours 22nd July to a friendly welcome. 5 lev per day for the safe and no charge of air conditioning. Had to pay £50 deposit against breakages which was returned promptly after checking out. Didn't get off to the best start as we were given the wrong key but this was sorted quickly. Apartment was spacious and had everything we needed with a balcony which had the sun in the morning and a terrace on the side big enough to lie on when the sun reached it in the afternoon. The pool was cold at first but was refreshing after being in the baking sun. Only used the pool bar a few times but staff were friendly and prices reasonable. Sunbeds are a bit sparse but we managed to get one most days for a few hours. Bus stop right outside so ideal for trip pick ups or to catch the local buses. Apartment cleaned well and toilet paper and towels replaced regularly. The lift was a bit dodgy and we got stuck in it several times, found it quite amusing until it stuck when we were due to be picked up for a boat trip...luckily managed to escape and get to the bus stop just in time! Good location and only a short walk to the beach and promenade. Loads of places to eat/drink close by, Friends and Lira being our favourites. We used the trip agent at the side of the hotel (See More) to book all our trips and were happy with the service provided at reasonable prices. Flight home was 1.20 am but we were unable to get late checkout so the last day was a bit of a drag but we left our cases in reception and made the most of it. All in all an enjoyable holiday and would be more than happy to stay at Efir againMore
Ok but won't be returning
Arrived early hours to a miserable and arrogant man on reception who demanded £50 or 100 lev to cover any theft or breakage and had to sign an inventory of the apartment's contents not knowing if it was even correct before he would give us the room key. He then gave the key with no direction of where the room was. Apartment was fine but had problems with bathroom door not locking and 1 day with no hot water. Other lady receptionist was lovely as was the lady in the pool bar. Maids were rude, going through wardrobe looking for a towel which apparently wasn't there even though I had piled all dirty towels on the side of the bath. Noticed the maids counting everything every time they cleaned. Pool nice enough and could usually get a lounger. No entertainment. Stung by jelly fish in sea but think we were just unlucky. Sunny beach itself is not our cup of tea so won't be returning but am sure that many people love it. Just a bit in your face for us. More
Writing this on our last few days.Very clean and maintained apartment .In apartment b1 overlooking the pool.Couple of gripes about the holiday are 1:getting dropped of on first night on main road with no directions where to go as thomson rep left coach half way through transfer. 2:finding out a check In that you've to pay 100 lev deposit which you will get back as long as nothing is broken during your stay. 3:Don't bother asking for late check out as they either can't oblige or won't. Other than these things have had a great holiday and will return knowing what to expect. More
Check everything when first check in
Self catering apartment very basic we was in A5 very basic kitchen toaster kettle 2 ring hob shame there was no oven or microwave which would expect from a self catering apartment, !!!! Make sure when you go to your apartment you check everything on n the list they give you is go as far as to jump on the bed make sure it don't break especially check the plastic chairs any sign of cracking take them to reception as we was charged for a chair that the bck fell off yes not a leg broke the back fell off!!! just from sitting down in it? and the receptionist and management attitude was tough wasn't broke when you had the room so cost me 20 lev about £8.50 for the chair the stuff that they supply is the very basic of cutlery plates and glasses there was also things missing!!!! Which they new about but didn't tell us when checking in when we went bck they said "yes we no about them missing" so maybe hoping we didn't notice to charge us again was our first time in Bulgaria was a nice hotel and complex not to much noise but did get woken a few times over our 10 night stay wouldn't stay here again down to self catering facilities really poor and being charged for the chairs which clearly wasn't our fault it broke you've been warned 🤔More
