All the rooms come with a balcony or a terrace, and most of them have sea views. It’s self-catered here, so guests often head to Elounda’s tavernas 5 minutes’ walk away. The beach is the same sort of distance.

we usually stay right at the other end of Elounda but fancied a change, so chose the Alikes. After reading the reviews on TA we came to the conclusion that room 105 seemed to be the most complained about. Arriving in the early hours we were directed to ....room 105!!! The only thing that we did in the room was shower and sleep. To be fair the room was ok, cleaned regularly and fairly comfortable. The only problem was the small balcony with a huge flowering bush covering it...we usually like a drink on the balcony before going out for a meal but could not do that in room 105 so we had to drink elsewhere. The staff at the Alikes were lovely and as we go to Elounda to chill, that's what we did! Would we go back to the Alikes? you bet we would, we had a fab holiday and came back refreshed and raring to go, our thanks to all.More
5 Star service!
Just spent a week at Alikes and was not disappointed. It is in a beautiful setting with mountain and sea view with good bars and restaurants within walking distance. It has a good size swimming pool, and a gym with shower facility. The beaches are excellent, very clean and calm safe for family with young children. It is the team of staff that make it a 5 star , the team Olga, Mr George, George2, George3 and Ilianna will go to the end of the earth to guarantee you a relaxing and hiccup free holiday. They are very welcoming, hospitable and wonderful company. You are treated as if you are part of the family. The room we stayed was basic for our self catering stay and it had everything we needed. It was kept clean everyday. I would highly recommend Alikes and you will not be disappointed. I would definitely come back to see my Spartan friend Olga! `More
We enjoyed our stay in a one bedroom apartment at the Alikes. The location of the apartments is superb - good facilities close by and a five-ten minute stroll to the centre of Elounda. We used the beach across the road most days, literally stumbled from Alikes to the sea! The accommodation has a small seawater pool but we didn't use it. Our apartment was clean and bedding and towels were changed regularly. We were disappointed with the balcony (room 105), which as others have said, has a huge flowering bush growing on to it and no view. It was also a very small balcony considering that the apartment slept three adults. We got the impression that better rooms were given to returning visitors. We didn't use the self catering facilities. There was a television in the room and a hairdryer in the bathroom. The shower was probably the best I've encountered in basic Greek apartments, and the water was always hot. In fact it was so hot that we had to be very careful! Wifi usually worked well in the bar area but was better on some devices than others. It didn't work in our apartment. Staff at the Alikes go out of their way to be friendly, and they have the welcomes and farewells perfected to a fine art. We were greeted in the early hours with cake, biscuits and water. Little treats such as jelly and sangria are often handed out around the bar area. At the end of the holiday we were given a little gift bag of souvenirs to take home, such a lovely touch. We had a little problem on arrival and this was dealt with swiftly. There are lots of social events taking place at the Alikes, such as bingo and barbecue nights, which are all documented with numerous photographs on Facebook. This isn't our scene as we love Elounda and there are many amazing tavernas to visit in an evening, so we just opted out of these events. We did have a couple of lunches and breakfasts at the accommodation and these were lovely. Overall we had a great holiday, and the Alikes is certainly an option which we could consider for a return visit to Elounda.More
Lovely Place & Hosts
As everyone says this is a gem. The team at Alikes are outstanding. So warm & welcoming. The partments are a good size, double bed & clean. We had a lovely holiday. However, just to give a totally fair view, we spent little time really in the place, although other holiday makers stuck around the site more. This was simply because we like exploring & like the sea & beach. We found Elounda to be a very friendly place, outstanding in its warm welcome & quality of restaurants to any where else visited in Greece. Their hospitality explains the repeat visitors. So Alikes is great quality & great value for money, but I suspect other hotels can provide a similar offer. The town beach is ok, its nice, it grew on us, but this is not a beach resort. A perfect small quality hotel, way above Greek normal standards for a c 2-3 star small apartment. We would return.More

If Carlsberg Did Holidays...
If Carlsberg Did Holidays...they would undoubtedly include a trip here. Our second time to Alikes the first being October 2016 for two weeks. My wife and i dragged the pensioner in-laws along for a week of R&R this time and we were a bit apprehensive at how they would feel about a self catering holiday with them being seasoned cruisers but on the other hand we felt theres nowhere like this place to recharge and chill out for a week or two and we soon found out we had guessed right, they had a ball as did we again. Apartments are everything you need and kept spotlessly clean, the location is beautiful and the staff second to none. Olga Of Sparta is at the helm while George 1 overlooks day to day operations. George 2 provides the entertainment in a very casual non imposing way, his mastery of bingo calling is second to none :0))...George 3 takes care of the bar at night along with the services of Iliana during the day and nothing is a problem, i repeat, nothing is a problem for these people. Ask them to arrange a table and a taxi to a taverna of your choice and they are straight on the phone, ask them to cook any time of day or night and they cook, ask for a change of room its done, ask them to recommend a place to eat, no problem, customer service is the watchword here and everyone is taken care of to their needs and tastes so no problem deciding where to visit if you fancy the quiet beautiful village of Elounda, its here! Self catering is the way to go in my opinion, so many wonderful tavernas to choose from around Elounda and an 8 euro taxi takes you to Plaka where there are more tavernas and a fantastic view of the Leper colony at Spinnalonga, i recommend Giovanis at Plaka without hesitation, the best food and service in that village, ask George at Alikes to arrange a table hes a friend of his and you get an extra special price. Olios in Elounda is fantastic too, great pastas, pizzas and salad and by no means the junk we have to suffer in the uk, real food. Mams is good too, a nice menu for fussy UK food loving people with excellent Greek dishes to choose from, Dimitris is a traditional Greek place, in town, good food but dont be in a hurry here, we would call it slow service, the Greeks just like to take their time when eating out. So the touristy questions we all like to ask, how much for this and that, here we go. So if you like to drink beer and wine is a fairly set price across the area. Youll pay 3.50 euro for a half litre of beer, generally Greek Mythos (Good), Amstel or Hieneken and 5.00 euro for half litre of red or white wine and as i say thats pretty much the standard pricing across the board for all the tavernas and bars. Spirits come with a price tag as does cider. Again a rough guide is 6.00 euro for a gin and tonic or a vodka lemonade etc a Magners will set you back the same but a Strongbow or other will come in about 4.50 euro and thats across the board meaning everywhere. It was reported to me that a Macallan whisky was priced at 15 euro at one place making a bottle of that worth around £500..... .... £35 at Asda, doesn't figure but there you go, like i said spirits are expensive.Typical starters are 3 or 4 euro, a main of fish, pork or chicken comes in around 10 euros, if burgers and pizzas are your thing somewhere around 6 or 7 euro sees you fed and again, thats standard throughout the tavernas in the region. I can eat, trust me but among the 4 of us there was always wasted food, regardless of where you go the portions are enormous... beware of death by Feta cheese :0))) But you dont have to eat out if your self catering and if you go to supermarkets of which there are 2 in town plus 2 bakeries the prices plummet significantly. 1.40 euro for a half litre of your chosen beer, wine 3.00 euro for a litre and a half!!!! :0) red or white, the best fruit and veg you can buy along with feta cheese and butter that seem like a token gesture of payment, olive oil on the other hand was a bit more expensive than you'd think and i reckon it was double the price of UK supermarkets but the quality was beyond comparison. If you smoke you'll find your favourite brand at between 42 and 45 euros for 200 or 4 or 4.50 a pack, if you like cigars you'll find tubos of the best Cubans priced at around airport prices in the UK so buy the ones you like when leaving or take a gamble on finding the ones you like, perhaps the same could be said for perfumes and aftershaves, you never quite know whats genuine over there. Leather goods are outstanding value. I bought 4 leather belts. 2 Levi, 1 Armani and 1 Boss... the best of the best of quality, 10 euro for 4 :0))))) Go figure, £29 each over here, im not suggesting i think they are genuine but they are fantastic quality as are handbags, wallets etc. Now the down sides. Last year we did the free Thomson transfers... a nightmare. 2 and a half hours each way and swore never again so this time pre booked a cab online through Heraklion cabs. 75 euro and it took an hour, i strongly advise this if you can afford it, saves a whole lot of hell. The return leg i used the Elounda cabs and that was 80 euro, hey ho, i couldn't be bothered with the bus and wasnt having pensioners go through that hellish transfer. In summary then, Alikes and Elounda is wonderful, if all you want on a holiday is to eat, sleep and recharge this is for you. If you want activity, nightlife and your taking kids go somewhere else, this is definitely not a place for kids and i mean Elounda as a whole, theres nothing there other than the sea, restaurants and old people :0)) If your looking for a cheap holiday then forget it too, the days of self catering being the cheap option are over!!!! Go all inclusive somewhere if your on a budget expenses over in Crete can get way out of control if you eat and drink out all the time. Will i be back to Alikes and Elounda??? Of course i will as will my in-laws so Olga of Sparta i will see you very soon :0) Hope ive helped in your selection of a holiday trip advisor buddies, enjoy wherever you go!More
