Bland hotel that could be anywhere, terrible coffee
If you want to sun or swim on white sand beaches, but don't care if the hotel is so generic luxe that you can't tell if you're in Florida or Hawaii, and are happy to pay top dollar for it, this is the hotel for you. Except for the muzak sound track you can hardly tell you're in Greece. The food is adequate but mediocre, and caters to the Germanic tour-group crowd, and has very little local color to it. It's about 6 kilometers from town, so you need to go a long way to see anything that reminds you of where you are. They have so little respect for where they are you can't even get a glass of retsina with your meal (at least I was told they don't have it, when I asked this evening). The coffee is truly appalling, tastes like instant and probably is. I gave up on the hotel breakfast and started going 350 meters down the road to a taverna that had proper Greek coffee. Also the hotel is understaffed, so it can take forever to get any attention in the restaurant. Maybe some people like this kind of faux luxe, but I find it an affront. It's for people who want every place to be the same. You'd be much better off staying in a small family run place near town, if you want to come to Crete.More

Perfect hotel for families with small kids
We booked this hotel over TUI mainly because ist was qualified as "Best Family" and our daughter had indeed a lot of fun in the "Mini Club". Carers from Mini Club were very motivated, frendly and skilled; we also had a feeling that more entertaiment is offered for kids than in other "Best Family" hotels we stayed before. We also have to compliment other staff (reception, bar on the beach, main restaurant, SPA) on very good service. We went half board and had a room in the main buliding with sea view. We liked the room, it was sufficient for a family of three and had a nice view on the beach. We suggest that - while booking - the room category should to be chosen carefully; some guests have been disappointed by the rooms in the separate building accross the road. On the other side - as we understood - those rooms are supposed to be much cheaper than in the main bulidung and villas. Food: very good, with a lot of choces. We guess, it is difficult to serve fresh fish for 1.500 guests - but "fish days" had been offered for some extra charge in the tavern. It has been already mentioned by other guests and we made the same experience: the service of photographers is a bit strange for 4/5 star hotel, in particular, the way they negotiate prices for photos. Price list as a such is not available; starting prices are sky-high (well above 300 Euro in our case for 30 min photo session); bills are not handed over. As hotel guests we clearly felt too much pressure in this regard. Despite this, we give 5 points to the hotel.More
I have recently returned from ten days at the Aquila Rithymna Beach. I stayed here with my partner during June and we had a fantastic stay. The hotel is of an excellent standard. Upon arrival (which was during the early hours of the morning) we were speedily checked in and given a glass of refreshing juice. We paid for a sea view room and requested a high floor and the view was beautiful. The room itself was spacious and clean and the maid did a good job every day of cleaning and changing the towels, etc. There was a kettle in the room with a selection of teas and coffee. There was also some slippers, a dressing gown, coat hangers and a good sized TV. We had a free of charge safe also and were given complimentary shampoo, body wash, body lotion, etc that was replenished once used. Upon arrival, we were also given a complimentary bottle of water, wine and some Greek delicacies in the room. There was also a small mini bar with basic drinks inside for those that wished to use this. The hotel itself was set in large and stunning grounds that we found to be kept immaculately clean. There were 4 pools and the main pool was huge and the surroundings were beautiful and relaxing. You could get a clean pool/beach towel each day from a little station by the beach. We had a few queries that we needed to check with the reception staff and our patio door jammed one day and they were always polite and helpful. We even locked ourselves out of our room but they sorted it with no fuss at all! We stayed on a half board basis and found the food was delicious and varied and the service excellent. You had your pick of tables from a huge buffet restaurant (inside or outside) and staff were always on hand to help you find a table. Breakfast was excellent with a huge variety of food on offer – from your cooked foods and pastries to breads, cheeses, meats, cereals, salads and fruit plus accompaniments. There was free water, tea, coffee, fruit juices and Prossecco available at breakfast. The evening meal was also excellent with good variety. Soup was served to you at your table and the rest you helped yourself to. There was a fantastic variety of salads, breads, meat, fish, potatoes, other accompaniments, ice cream and some desserts to die for! The area outside of the hotel is very laid back and we found a nice selection of shops, bars and restaurants. These were just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The bus runs from outside the hotel to Rethymnon town and was 1 Euro 30 for a ticket one way which you purchased in the hotel shop. The bus service was excellent and the buses run regularly from early morning through to Midnight. The hotel beach has the blue flag award so was kept in excellent condition and sunbeds and umbrellas were available at no extra no cost. You also had free use of the indoor pool and gym. There was also a hairdresser on site and spa for those that wished to use these. The hotel had an array of entertainment. Laid back signers in the lobby bar or more lively shows in the amphitheatre. We saw a light show there and attended the disco evening which was great fun. Our room was just above the lobby bar so we got to enjoy the laid back music from our balcony. The Check out was a very simple process and took just minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rithymna Beach and would return again without hesitation. We would like to thank you to all of the staff at the hotel for a truly fabulous holiday.More
Best Hotel We've ever stopped at!
I know you cant please all the people all of the time and even we had some issues, but i still wouldn't hesitate to give this hotel 5 Stars! Nice clean modern room in main block. Only hotel I've ever stayed at where you have to turn the air con off as it was so good! All drinks are top quality UK branded, OK you can pay for some extras, but its not necessary. Cocktails made to order, not poured from a pre-made jug! Food is excellent, quality and variety. Beach is on the door step and very clean, loungers are good , clean and even the tables are cleaned over night. Biggest gripe, day time soft drinks tend to be flat as they are served from 1 litre bottles, and beach bar can get busy. Oh and the soap in our sink went a bit soggy!More

Beautiful hotel amazing break
If your looking for a five star hotel then this is the hotel for you. Staff were amazing couldnt do enough for you always friendly and acknowledge you. Location is ideal right on the beach and outside the hotel plenty of taverners and shops you can get the bus for 1.90 Euro head into to the centre where you'll find plenty of bars and the Venetian harbour. Brilliant for families and couples. Plenty of room around the pool so no fighting for sunbeds (or getting up at 6 in the morning) Food- could not fault something different every day more like gourmet half board/ all inclusive fresh salads, fish , meats plenty to choose from. If anyone had allergies they did try and cater for this aswell. Planning our next trip back!More
