Holidays to Argassi put the emphasis on beach fun, live music bars and family-friendly tavernas. And it all unfolds at the sort of calm pace you’d expect from Zante’s oldest town.
Small but perfectly formed
Argassi is a little place with a lot to offer. Just around the corner from Zante Town on Zante island’s south-east coast, it’s a cosy fishing village with its own strip of beach, a cluster of cracking places to eat and drink, and the green peaks of Mount Skopos as a backdrop.
Swimming and snorkelling
Argassi has a kilometre of shingle beach all to itself. The sea here’s pretty shallow, so it’s great for learner swimmers and snorkellers who want to scour the seabed without having to dive too deep.
Kids are very welcome in most of the bars and restaurants in town. The local chefs are quite happy to make special requests for small or picky guests, and there’s always the chance of some after-dinner plate-smashing. Most places are dotted around the main street so you won’t have to walk a marathon for your meal.
Ten minutes’ drive to Zante Town
Ten minutes by car and you’re in Zante Town, with its designer shops, pretty churches and cool museums. It’s quite small for a capital, so you can easily get round the place in a day. If you’re up for a bit of a walk, there’s a not-too-strenuous coastal path from Argassi to Zante Town with fantastic views out to sea.
