2nd visit amazing holiday, lovely staff great holiday
This is our second holiday to Planos Bay, and people can say it Butlins with sunshine which is fine that is their opinion (it’s strange that the people who say this have a review full of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes - but that’s none of my business. The staff work tirelessly, there are endless amounts of food and snacks to suit most people and I find a lot of variety, drinks throughout the day and lots going on. The entertainment staff especially Bill and Seviern work so hard to make everyone’s holiday, they ask you to join in and if you say no that’s fine they don’t harass you. The evening entertainment is the audience participation type which works for us as we are a sociable family and my little boy loves to get involved. If you prefer the big show type of holiday then this isn’t for you but if you enjoy having a laugh on holiday then you will get the most from Planos Bay. We used the water park every day as there is a great variety of slides and pools here and it’s literally a 1 minute walk across the hotel. The room we stayed in was 307 and it was lovely, nice new décor lovely wet room can’t say a bad word about it, maids cleaned daily – it was on the road so you could hear the music from the Red Apple next door which didn’t bother us as we was in there most nights after the Planos entertainment had finished – if you get tired of the hotel go into the red apple you will be guaranteed a warm welcome from Marios and his brother. We visited the other waterpark on an excursion but left early as they seemed to have a plague of hornets and I couldn’t escape them so I can’t really comment on this other than my son (8 years old) loved the slides there. A lovely hotel with great staff and a really friendly place definitely going to book again for next year but this time it’s going to be a 10 day trip as the only downside was it wasn’t long enough for us. Sunshine for me sunshine for you :)More
Stayed here for 10 nights 1st-11th September as a family of 4 adults 6 children ages ranging from 1 to 60 and it was fab through the day you had a choice of either the pool or the water park which were both clean and never to crowded. The rooms were basic but functional but the beds were very uncomfortable and only 1 pillow on each bed !!. Our main issue was with the changing of towels and bedding as our towels were only changed every other day and when your showering twice a day thats just not good enough, we mentioned this to reception and were told they were short on towels. As for the bedding I'm quite sure this wasn't changed at all unless they changed them for sheets with the same marks on they'd took off. Day time entertainment consisted of 2 activities in the day and 2 in the afternoon and that's your lot and evenings entertainment wasn't just poor it was depressing when your book a family hotel/holiday you would expect family entertainment, we chose to spend our evenings in reception after the mini disco and bingo and watch the movie. Food was hit and miss most days in the restaurant but you could find something the Sunday roast however was beautiful. The snack bar was great they served ham or turkey cobs, sausage cobs, pizza, chips, omelette, salad, burgers, fish fingers and more and it was always made fresh and warm. The beach was beautiful and with lovely warm clear waters take the advice of the reps and walk that extra 10 minutes in the opposite direction and the beach is even better barely any rocks and the sea is so clear you can see the fish swimming around and the beach itself is wider. We hired pedalos on a couple of occasions for 9/10 Euro depending on which one you chose and the kids loved them. We also hired at quad for 25 euro for the day which is a great way to get around the island and see more. About a 5 minute walk up the road there's an amusement park for kids with inflatables, climbing wall and lots more which is great and 10-15 minute walk up the road there's a mini golf with 2 9 hole courses and 3 18 holes which are great and very reasonably priced. We did the shipwreck island excursion which was absolutely beautiful and most certainly a must see but we booked with the lady down the road to the left of the hotel as the prices were loads cheaper than booking through the reps. Overall the hotel was fine nothing more nothing less and it really would just take a few tweaks to change that.More
Brilliant Family Holiday!
We travelled to this hotel as a family, Myself, Partner and Little Boy. We were at this hotel for 2 weeks; 1st-15th Sept. Upon reading the reviews on here I was a bit concerned. I am going to split this review into sections to make sure I cover everything I want to say. Arrival; Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted at reception with a nice cold refreshing drink, given our keys and signed paperwork for our all-inc bands and sent on our way to our room. I had asked for a birthday cake for our little boy as he turned 4 on the 4th Sept, the reception staff advised to go to reception on the 3rd and advise them whether I wanted it during lunch or dinner. During dinner on the 4th I had asked for our little boys cake, I wasn't expecting much, one slice of cake just for him maybe... No they brought out a whole 1 layer of birthday cake for him and it was really nice. Room; We stayed in room 315, it was a little dated as majority of Greek hotels are but it was basic, clean and spacious which was more than big enough for the 3 of us, but how much time do you spend in your room whilst abroad? It was just somewhere to shower and sleep for us. The beds were comfortable. Our balcony over looked the main pool area which was fine for us. On our son's birthday, I decorated the room and balcony with banners and balloons which the hotel had no issues with me doing. Pool Area; We didn't spend much time around the pool area, our little boy preferred the waterpark as there was much more to do there and the sunbeds were more spread out. The sunbeds around the pool were a little cramped. There is a main pool and a baby pool. Waterpark; We spent the majority of our days at the waterpark as we preferred it, sunbeds are more spaced out, better for our son as he never got bored, and things for us to do too! There are 6 slides for the big kids and adults, a wave pool, a lazy river, a main pool and a whole area dedicated to children under the age of 12, with around 10 slides, tipping bucket, and waterfalls, which they all seemed to love. The snack bar at the waterpark is good too, all-inc choices are; hotdogs, burgers, nachos, chips, ham/cheese/onion rolls, toasties, salads and pizza. All drinks are available at the waterpark too, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Food; Food at the hotel and waterpark was normal all-inclusive food, the pancakes and waffles at breakfast were my favourite and the Sunday Carvery is an absolute must - My partner and I couldn't get enough of the beef! The hotel hosts themed nights at the waterpark throughout the week, Italian, Mexican, Greek, Far East - the Far East night was the best one for us. I would highly recommend booking onto these evenings because even if you go and try things, and it's not for you, you can always return to the hotel to eat whatever is on at the hotel for that evening. Whilst we we're at the hotel, we went out 1 night to a restaurant called Asian Feast on the main strip of shops/restaurants. Asian Feast is Indian and Chinese and it was SO good, we had to go back again before we came home. I would highly recommend going if you are in the area and like Asian food. Trips/Activites; Whilst were here we did 3 trips - Turtle Island and Keri Caves, WaterVillage and Shipwreck Beach and Blue Caves. We booked all our trips with MyTours. ((cheaper than first choice/TUI, prices with them was €44 per adult and €21 for children)) To get to MyTours, go out of the hotel reception and turn right, it's on your right hand side just past a Hair Braiding/Henna stand. Dominic was very helpful when we approached to book for trips the first time, so we went back. I have included the costs we paid for each trip below with a small description. We also went to the Fantasy Mini Golf which was good fun and super cheap €6 each for adults, little one was free and it was 18 hole course. Turtle Island and Keri Caves; €19 adults, little one was free. We went here on the 4th, as it was our little one's birthday and we did indeed see turtles, which almost made me cry. We saw one during the boat journey and one in the harbour on the way back. Keri Caves are beautiful, we jumped off the boat and went discovering in them. It was tranquil. There were fish swimming around, clear blue waters and beautiful caves. Shipwreck Beach and Blue Caves; €20 adults and little one free. Shipwreck beach is beyond beautiful, however it was very cramped, numerous boats in and out of the bay so your not able to swim far into the crystal clear blue waters before a boat is blowing it's horn at you to move so they are able to drop more people off. We went on the half day trip which was more than enough with a little one and even my partner was shattered at the end of the trip, and agreed the full day would be too much, well it would be for us anyway. Blue Caves are again beautiful, at this point our little boy had seen numerous people jump off the tops of boats, so wanted to give it a go himself, so I jumped in, and he jumped to me aund he was fine, he absolutely loved it. If my 4 year old can do it, so can you! WaterVillage; €22 adults and little one free. WaterVillage was good however when booking the trip, we wasn't aware that the children's part and various other slides shut for 2 hours during the day to allow some other slides to run, so you have to work your time here correctly else it could be a disaster. As soon as you arrive, go around and look at the boards which will tell you what times slides are open/closed so your able to plan your day to it's full potential. Staff; All the staff at the hotel and waterpark are all very pleasant and was always on hand if we needed anything, we asked for an iron and one wasn't available, we returned to our room and within about 5mins, the reception man was at our door with a brand new iron for us to use, which was brilliant. Hotel Guests; My son made so many friends at this hotel, me and their moms exchanged numbers, they were lovely and really made my son's holiday extra fun. There were some people who we saw on regular occasions who looked miserable 24/7 no matter what time of the day, and I believe they have left a review below. We used to see the kids at the waterpark without her, to be honest, I'm not surprised. Whenever we saw them, she looked miserable constantly on her tablet even during meal times. The kids would be eating and chatting, she would be on a tablet. If she put the tablet down for 5 mins, she may have actually had fun like the rest of us. I'm not sure when she tasted the food to say it was bad as I only ever saw the tablet in her hands not a knife nor fork. Entertainment/Kids Club; Entertainment of a night isn't much after the Kid's Disco, we didn't stay for it most nights. We went to the Kid's Disco as our little one enjoyed it, but the bingo wasn't our sort of thing so after Kids Disco we used to go to a pub over the road and play snooker which our little one much preferred. Kids Club was brilliant, our little one went during the day and to the chocolate party which he came back an absolute mess but he said he had great fun, which was the main thing. It was nothing a quick shower and change of clothes couldn't sort out. I would highly recommend this hotel for families as it is brilliant, there is so much for the kids to do during the day. I have even recommended this hotel to my brother and sister-in-law to take my nieces. The hotel rooms are basic but clean and there is so much to do at the waterpark and it's all-inc. The island of Zakynthos is beautiful and so many things to see. I would definitely return if I didn't want to see visit more places in the world. More
Just returned from a weeks holiday here.. what a beautiful island zyknthos is! The hotel was average to good, the food was lovely, with a lot of variation and the snack bar served fresh food which you ordered. You couldn't go hungry and for once I wasn't sick of the food by the end which is always a positive. The entertainment on the night was not great and there was nothing in the day so if you have kids maybe this isn't perfect for them. We spent most our time in the water park which was just a short walk and was a nice sized water park, with about 6 slides and a lazy river and a good kids section as well as a swimming pool and wave machine. The drinks selection was good, with around 10 cocktails and a range of spirits. The rooms were average, with the bathroom being very small but it was enough. Although a little run down the hotel was clean. Staff were mainly friendly, although bar man Marco I think his name was.. was a bit rude and seemed miserable compared to the others. Our favourite part was just the island itself. Here are a few things to do: - turtle island trip- we booked through Thompson but there are other companies which will do this for a lot cheaper. This trip was brilliant, the tour guide was very informative and we had 3 swim stops to swim through the caves and on the beautiful beaches, as well as a 40 minute stop to see the turtles! -pirate ship- this did a tour of the island and was bought from a local company- cruise mar I think it was.. this was an all day and did 3 swimming stops, a mini performance and was equally lovely. This visited the shipwreck which is a must! -cocktails- there is a lovely cocktail bar called two brothers which we visited 3 times and do a range of cocktails. There is also one on the beach which was nice.. that was called cocktail bar and was a 5 minute walk straight up the beach. If we came back we would also try out the rent a quad bike which looked good and the fantasy mini golf which has 3 18 hole adventure mini golf sets. These both looked good. We'd also do the st Nicholas excursion..which you can also find a lot cheaper down the road. Overall a lovely holiday with an average hotel.More

Know what to expect...
We were coming to Zante for a wedding and didn't want to spend a fortune on a hotel. This wasn't quite what we'd usually go for but it was all inclusive and had a water park. As it got closer and having read the reviews we were getting very nervous but we were happy enough with what we got. The rooms are basic, which we expected, but they're spacious and clean. I can't say we enjoyed the pool area although my step son did but we didn't spend much time there. The music was constantly blaring, kids running riot. There was no chance of being able to relax. We also didn't enjoy the evening entertainment which started with a kids disco and then bingo nearly every night. We spent a lot of time at the water park which we thought was great. Plenty of loungers, quieter pool and good slides. It kept the kids occupied all day. The hotel is also close to the beach and the strip so there's lots to do outside the hotel. We didn't eat here in the evenings much but when we did we were pleasantly surprised. The buffet offered a fairly good selection, although it may have gotten repetitive if we'd eaten here more, and the food was nice. Breakfast had a lot of choice and we thought the snack bars were great. Even the all inclusive cocktails had a good selection. The staff work hard and are very helpful and the whole place is clean.
