DO NOT COME HERE!
We are a family of 2 adults & 2 kids, we have been staying in all inclusive 4/5 star resorts for the past 10 + years we are not a fussy family, but this place was the worst we've been too. Pros : On the face of it the hotel and grounds are very well kept and clean, aqua park is great just straight across the road, food in restaurants is ok. Cons : extremely rude staff in the whole hotel and especially the restaurants on our second night here I asked a guy in the restaurant for more drinks and he put his hands up in exasperation! Serious attitude problems and we are not the only people in the hotel saying this! The booking system for restaurants is ridiculous there are 5/6 restaurants and all have to be booked early in the mornings bar one which no one wanted to eat in because the food is cold and the place is rampant with cats sitting at your feet. The trouser rule for the restaurants does not make sense, men need to wear trousers in the restaurants because the hotel say it's formal let me tell you these restaurants are far from formal. There are not enough sun loungers at the pools for guests if you where not up early to get a bed you didn't get one. We where in a family room 4 of us with just 1 wardrobe no drawers so most of our clothes stayed in our cases. The entertainment is the same girls everynight in the tent performing absolute rubbish! It was my daughters birthday while we where there and the staff left a lovely bottle of champagne in our room which I thought was a nice touch so we decided to bring the bottle to dinner with us, the minute we walked into the restaurant a guy shouted at us that we could not drink that here I told him it was given to us by the hotel but we where informed it could only be opened and consumed in our room! This could be a really great place but the people are just too rude and unhelpful and the rules here are just plain stupid, and it's definitely not a 4/5 star!More
Having just returned home from a great holiday at the blue lagoon resort I thought now was a great time to reflect on my experience and hopefully help others thinking of going here. I have to admit this was a family holiday but I did find myself having quiet a few cocktails, some of my favourites were enjoyed watching the evening shows in the coral bar, being served by the lovely Maria and Stelio, helping them out promote these drinks and providing table service was Krystian, one that would be a must try is the blue crab lemonade! Back to the rest of the holiday, we were there when the earthquake hit and this was a scary event as you can imagine however the staff were on top form and on hand to help, we even had the hotel manager patty come in and work her way around the hotel talking to as many guests as she could, something I found to be extreamly comforting. This has been one of the best holidays in Greece I have had and will be looking at this hotel for future destinations, a big thank you to all the staff they really make this holiday special.More
5 stars under challenge
We stayed 11 days in Blue Lagoon, rented 2 rooms. Overall we are satisfied, but parts are not worth a 5 star. What was good: The resort itself is fantastic! Large main pool, additional separated Children and adult pools, 5 restaurants, different evening dinner themes per restaurant, nice architectural implant of the rooms, nice gardens and nice lighting in the evening, water park (300 meters further than the main area), private beach (500 meters), very good internet all over the resort..... Specific to mention is the overall friendliness and helpful staff! What can be better: If you expect a top 5 star hotel, then you could be disappointed. There are 662 rooms, having approximately 2000 guests. The rooms we had were small (1000 series rooms). Very small bathroom and a bit outdated. The rooms were not everyday equally cleaned. The towels are too many times used and should be renewed. The resort is all-in but if you want a better drink (e.g. Heineken) or cocktail (a real one) you must pay separate. During the day there are only pancakes as extra (& long queue due to this). We had to pay 22€/room for a (old) safe, which we find strange. A bed at the beach is 5€. In the evening only one bar remains open, making that between 21:30 and 23:00 there is lack of free chairs and sitting space. Therefore, some parts of the hotel are worth 5 star, but others not higher than 4 stars... (taking the price you pay into account) More
Great for family's
The resort isn't 5 star but is 4 it's the staff and animation teams that are 5 star they all go out of their way to make it a memorable holiday. I must give a special mention to Bannos the waiter for constantly keeping drinks coming and his amazing people skills, Sofie from the entertainment team for making my son's time here fun and memorable , totally family oriented holiday with plenty of activities to do. Our son is gluten-free and in every restaurant the chef's will come out and tell what he can eat and will make almost anything u request if u don't like what's on offer now that's 5 star treatment ! Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this resort to family's who want a fun holiday. The only downside really is the fact u have to pay for branded drinks and the sunloungers on the beach. Apart from that it's happy days!More
Best all inclusive we've been to
We stayed in a 2-bed apartment near the kids clubs and piano bar. Pros: Food - very varied and fresh compared to other AI resorts we've been to. Good choice of restaurants. Easy to book into where reservations were required (again a lot easier than other resorts; booked with very pleasant member of staff at breakfast). In our 2nd week the Italian was available to book for families not just adults. (NB: men need to wear long trousers in all restaurants at night bar main buffet one). Drinks - Waiter service for drinks even by the pool and served in glasses. (Or plastic tumblers by the pool). Drinks payable after 12 midnight, as well as more specialised cocktails/frappe etc. (not that expensive). Pools - great selection of pools and the beach was lovely (bar on beach too!). We preferred the quieter Athina pool and had no problem getting sunbeds. Was also a great place for lunch. No deposit required for towels either. (Main pool a bit harder if you want a sunbed right by the water). Kids Club (First Choice) - my 10 & 8 year old girls loved it - first time they have wanted to go every day. Either in morning for 2.5 hrs and repeated in afternoon for 2.5. Ours went every morning at 10am except Tuesday their day off. Staff - all very friendly and pleasant. Again this has not been our experience of all staff in other resorts. Even though we found the site easy to walk around (though it is big!) we got buggies a few times just because the drivers were so much fun! Gym - good, up to date, clean equipment. Spa facilities looked good and staff very pleasant though didn't book any treatments. We recommend the piano bar if you want a quieter time; daytime and at night. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Great live music at night. (Eg singer with acoustic guitar). Other people we spoke to really enjoyed the entertainment in the main part of resort but not really our scene. Cons: very few. Rooms were fairly basic and had very little storage. Glad I brought hangers for my children's clothes as their wardrobe had no hangers at all. We really only slept in the rooms though. (2 bedroom apartment had no indoor seating area). Charge for sunbed on the beach €2.50 which was a surprise. More
