Holidays to Faliraki aren’t just about the mad-for-it nightlife – there’s plenty for families here too.
A resort of 2 sides
On the north-east coast of Rhodes, this purpose-built resort may get the column inches for its full-throttle nightlife, but Faliraki plays to families, too. Away from the bars and clubs the place packs in harbour-side restaurants, and it gives you 5 kilometres of sand to play with, too.
Blue Flag beach
The headline Faliraki Beach is a Blue Flag winner. It’s packed with sunloungers and parasols, and with bars right on the front an ice-cold drink is never far away. The sand shelves gently into the Aegean sea and there’s a deluge of watersports here – including a bungee jump if you fancy it.
Bar Street and Club Street do what they say on the tin. Right behind the main square, this neon hub pulls in the party crowd who come here for the 2-for-1 drinks and free shots. The mega-sized clubs deal in big nights with the likes of Hed Kandi, and when you want a break from the dance floor, the bars will keep you company ’til kicking out time around 4am.
Daytrips to Rhodes Town
About 20 minutes’ drive gets you to Rhodes Town. You can walk around the walls of the old town then explore the narrow, cobbled streets. There’s a hotch-potch of sights here with Venetian-style houses, Gothic churches and the famous Medieval Street of the Knights. For shopping and food stops, head for the area around Orffeos and Socratous streets.
