You’re within walking distance of Faliraki’s town centre and beach here – and back at base you’ve got a full-blown waterpark and a massive pool.
It’s no surprise this place has bagged a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence – not only has it got its own waterpark, but there’s also a huge pool, 2 restaurants, and a jam-packed entertainment line-up.
When it comes to location, the Sun Palace is on to a winner. Faliraki’s sandy beach is only 10 minutes’ stroll away, and it’s the same to the town’s bars and restaurants.

The waterpark here lines up slides like the Freefall and Sidewinder that show off high speeds and big drops. You can also take things easy here down at the lazy river. Little ones are also sorted with a spray park with 3 slides and a mini multi-lane number.
Just so you know, the slides here come with restrictions to look out for, and children need to be accompanied by an adult.
- larger slides have a height restriction of 140cm.
- smaller slides like the multi-lane racer have a height restriction of 120cm.

Sun palace hotel
Stayed at this hotel with my partner and 3 girls, the rooms were ok very basic needs a bit of modernising, the aqua park was great fun my girls loved it, there is a lovely beach just 5 mins walk from the hotel only downside is that there seemed to be a lot of stray dogs roaming around there, there is a great travel shop just across the road from the hotel called sofias they are a lovely couple and to book any excursions through them as they are a lot cheaper than booking them through Thomson, the rooms and pool area is always clean and tidy. Very big downside to me was the food in the restaurant wasn't very nice and there was always the same there wasn't very much choice and hardly any choice of foods for kids, we used to mainly sit outside in the outside restaurant area and there was always wasps flying around you so you couldn't have peace to eat, there was also always cats out there sitting on the seats that you had to shoo away and I did see the waiters chasing them out the restaurant quite a few times, I fell down ill out there woke up with bad belly and diarrhoea but don't know where it came from, but other than that had a great time More

Perfect family break
Travelled here alone with my 3 children 1 of whom is disabled. On arrival I was offered a room upgrade which was brilliant as I had contacted the hotel before hand and they always replied straight away and were happy to help. My daughter didn't like having a seperate bedroom so we stuck with our standard room. Rooms were quite dated which did put me off a little as normally other hotels I've been to were much better but it had everything we needed so couldn't really complain. I felt very safe here and location was perfect as it was totally your choice to venture towards the mail strip or quieter areas! I got a bus one night to Rhodes old town with my children which was also lovely with the help of the bus times etc from the hotel staff! They were always happy to help! Fresh towels and room cleaned most days! Water park was amazing we spent everyday in their never got bored! Most areas around the waterpark were clean but sometimes the food area could get messy from children dropping bits etc! But their were always people around cleaning. Entertainment was brilliant always something different. I must say the lifeguards dona brilliant job especially in that heat! My children loved them and they were very friendly and kind! Overall I was very nervous about travelling alone with my children but I didn't need to be because everything was fine we had a brilliant holiday and have now booked with our family and friends so theirs now 18 of us going this year we cannot wait!! Definitely recommend for families!More
We booked this as a cheap break away in the sun and thats all i would say it was! The food was almost ineadable we ended up even tho we was all inclusive going out and finding restarant to eat as we couldent stomach the food in the hotel! The drinks in the hotel were far to stong burning everytime you drink! The hotel itself was very clean and tidy and the rooms were spotless! Just a shame about the food and drink as other than that was a fab holiday More
sorry not as good this time!
second time here this time for 2 weeks (26 sept - oct 12 2016) stayed in 2014 previously for a week. it's a great hotel considering price. which is why we returned. unfortunately the clientele has changed probably due to the low price! I'm no snob but after 2 weeks of loud obnoxious people and free range parenting I was happy to be going home. this is not the hotels fault I understand that but if you're the sort of person whom gets offended by disgusting manners and people leaving mess everywhere, food, nappies, fag butts on floor, when there are plenty of bins and ashtrays to use (and it wasn't just one family). be wise pay a little extra and go elsewhere. sorry sun palace we work very hard to save for a holiday and I would not risk coming back again. my 7 year old was disgusted with some of the adults not being able to use a bin and he couldn't understand why there were kids running around in evening being naughty with no parental control. I don't want to be parenting other peoples kids on holiday. only real down point for hotel was kids buffet was crap whilst we were there this time. entertainment great if you like pontins!More

Fun for young families
Stayed here in August, so busiest time of the year, and was pleasantly surprised that while it was busy it was not too overwhelming. We always got sun loungers without having to get up and reserve at 5am. The hotel could do with some updating, the indoor communal areas were quite modern, but our room was dated and the partition to make the extra bedroom made our room dark. That said it was clean, the balcony was large, looking out towards the sea, so a quiet spot. Hotel is a few minutes walk to the sea and beach. It is about 20 minutes walk down the main road to Faliraki, so not in your face, but you have the option of partaking, if that is your thing. The main road in front of the hotel has a bus stop on the route into Rhodes town, which we did a couple of times. Would recommend that. On site, the water park is the big plus. The kids splash area, the slides, lazy river and wave pool are in a compact area, so ideal if you are trying to keep tabs on small kids. There are height restrictions on some slides, 120/140 cm. you can sign out towels at the splash park and return them as you leave which handy, but they can run out later in the day. Wave pool only ran at 11 and 1, but kids enjoyed playing on inflatables when waves not running. There is a compressed air station you can use on your own inlflatables next to the sidewinder exit. The snack bar serves breakfast items first thing, then lunch is usually grilled chicken or kebab meat and pitas. The pizzas are good, there are salad options and fruit. The ice cream is a chest freezer to help yourself to vanilla, choc, strawberry or pistachio. Didn't spend much time at the other pools, but animation team did try to get us to join in aqua aerobics. Lots going on and quite noisy. Evening ents started late, a bit hit and miss. Mini disco most nights, mix of European songs, a bit repetative for adults, but the kids liked it. AI food is always devisive, and never great for people on restricted diets of any description. breakfast had lots of choice, but it is mass produced, so if your expectations are that it will be gourmet al a carte, then book something more expensive. Dinner deserts were probably the most limited I have seen in years of AI hols. They are catering for many nationalities, so not everything to British tastes, but if that is a problem for you, perhaps you should consider Blackpool. There were a lot of tip jars around the place, but that was nothing compared with out side the hotel. Haggling, being dragged into the restaurants off the street and hard selling in souvenir shops are a sign of tough economic times for Greece. The drinks were fine, heard stories of watered down beer and limited spirits elsewhere, but no such issues here. All in all a good holiday, not the Ritz, but didn't pay Ritz prices.More
