Family Trip with teenage boys and Peanut/Nut Allergy
What a great family trip with our two teenage boys! Beautiful resort with lots of activities offered to everyone. The pool was great, with the swim up bar, water was warmer than I expected from the reviews I read, so no worries there. We spent most of our time at Sunset Cove Beach! Great place, this is where the Hobie Cats, Kayaks, Paddle Boards and peddle boats were offered for everyone to use. There was sometimes a bit of a line up but generally speaking not a long wait. The watersports crew was great and handled it very professionally when there were a few guests that were not very patient with waiting. So kudos to them for putting up with that in their good nature way! I found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly! Restaurant at this beach was great as well, and the Jerk Hut was awesome to be able to go up to grab a plate of the chicken/pork and you were able to add the mild or hot sauce on top, so do not be afraid if you do not like it too spicy! The resort is huge, but there are shuttles all over to get you there. We were on the Jamaica side, building 21, I would say this side the rooms (or at least ours) is definitely in need of upgrading. I did speak with Guest Relations near the end of our trip, and Sarah-Kate said she wished we would of talked to her earlier as they would of tried to switch rooms for us (however I was happy just to be there and didnât feel like switching the next day). I thought maybe our room was one of the older ones due to booking the Junior Suite Supersaver Rate, but was told that was not the case that we received an older room. If that is true, than I would have to say the Jamaica side is in need of upgrading. However did not put a damper on our trip, as we were hardly in the room. We did pick this resort for the allergy program as our son has a severe Peanut/Tree Nut Allergy. Upon arriving they did not have the information on file of our allergy, but they were quick to say they would contact someone for us. Basically you would present the Allergy card when you arrived at the restaurant and they would have the Chef come out to speak with you and walk you around the buffet. They are very busy, so just be patient to be able to wait a little bit, but they definitely do not rush through with you so it is worth the wait. I found that the Chefs in the morning for breakfast were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the allergy. Thanks to Chef Gary and Chef Angelica! They were great and definitely made my son feel assured he was in safe hands. They offered every morning to bring him a donut from the back dipped in white chocolate so that it was safe for him! He is now hooked on those donuts! Thanks also to Chef Angelica for making my son a sandwich to take to the airport and adding the extra donut! Over and above ...much appreciated! I did find when we went to the a la carte restaurants that they were unsure. We ate at the Steak house the first night, and had been told no bread, but the meals were fine. No dessert available. Similar at the Italian restaurant. Then the next time at the steak house, the chef offered to get white buns for him which was wonderful, but when we asked the next time at the Italian restaurant was told he should never eat any of the bread at the resort. So there appeared to be a bit of a discrepancy between the chefs on this. This would be beneficial to clarify amongst the Chefs. Our last night there, we were brought buns at the steak house from our waiter, and I asked if they had been brought from the separate area, and he said no it was just the white buns he gave us. The chef came out finally and when I asked if the buns were brought from the regular pile, or brought from a different area, he told my son he should be fine, as they were just white buns. So not reassuring to hear he should be fine. I do not believe this was the Chef from the steak house but one of the cooks from the back. They also would bring him Ceasar Salad from the back if almonds were on the buffet, and then the one day the Chef saw that Kevin had used Ceasar dressing from the buffet (as there were no almonds near by) and he said you canât eat that there are pinenuts in the dressing. I asked him to check the ingredients and he came back later saying he was wrong. Overall, it was a good experience, but this part of it, I felt could have been a bit more reassuring. We were told we could not eat at the Japanese Restaurant (which is fine). It would be extremely helpful if you have an allergy, if you could get a list of restaurants you can/cannot be accommodated at, and a list of basic things, Hamburg Buns, Hot Dog Buns, Bread at resturants, Jerk Hut etc, that you can be accommodated at. Overall they did do a great job, and you just need to ask the questions, and where you were not comfortable similar to when at home and you are eating out, you know what you need to stay away from. Even with some of these negative experiences, I would still recommend the resort and would return to another Grand Palladium. I found all staff from the Check-in, Shuttle drivers, watersports, activity staff, bartenders etc to be so friendly! I did not have one negative thing to say about the people! They are happy all the time! They seem to be dancing and singing themselves as they are working! Thanks for a great week!More
Great winter escape
If you want to escape winter go to this all-inclusive resort. We had a great time - 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Beautiful beaches, delicious food and really great staff- especially Andrea at the beach bar, Jamie at the Italian restaurant and Deniel at the buffet restaurant. One tip- you are on "Jamaican time". We saw guests getting frustrated when we are all there to relax. Leave your watch in your room and enjoy! Thanks Grand Palladium!More
Beautiful Resort... Awesome Service!
I stayed at this resort during March break. This is my second stay at a Grand Palladium resort, and I have to say, while there is nothing wrong with the resort, I did prefer the Mayan Riveria Grand Paladium a bit better only because it had more foliage. But aside from that it was a great resort. It would have received a 5 out 5 if the Spa representatives or sales people weren't quite so agressive. Sitting around the pool, you would be asked every 5 minutes if you wanted a massage. It was a bit too much. The staff were all friendly, the food was good. We tried just about every a la carte restaurant and didn't require a reservation for any of them except the Japanese restaurant if you wanted the Hibatchi show, which you could get a reservation with a same day request. My son celebrated his birthday at the resort and the Guest Releations desk arranged for a fantastic seat in the Jamaican restaurant, which was done as a special favour given they weren't accepting reservations in that restaurant that evening as there was a wedding... so thank you so much for that! My favorite restaurant was definitely the steak house... with Italian being second. The rooms were quite nice. We stayed on the Lady Hamilton side and had a beautiful view of the ocean from both sides. Rooms are spacious, as are the bathrooms. Fridges were filled on a daily basis. My one complaint is that the resort doesn't cut people off when they get too drunk, which would happen in any bar in North America. When asked, the staff said they were not allowed to cut off anyone because people would be upset. Instead, when they had to close the main pool on my last day at the resort for the remainder of the afternoon because some jerk got so drunk that he puked in the pool and they had to close it to clean it they ended up upsetting a great number of number of people.. I think it's pretty easy... upset a handful of people who get too drunk, or over 250 people who are now unable to use the pool because of one person. Management really needs to re-think that one!More
We stayed from 1 March for two weeks. I requested top floor with nice views , that is what we got in Villa 11. Room was a little bit tired, sofa bed was showing its age. No drawers but everything else was ok, any problems were fixed quickly. Villa 11 was near to everything. We used to walk to Sunset Cove to snorkel early, very good. Stayed right at end of beach much quieter there. Lots going on all day long if you wanted to join in. Bar, restaurant and Jerk Hut, so you could stay all day. Our favourite beach. The buffet at Blue Lagoon was great at lunch time , much better than evening buffet. But in the evening used the a la carte restaurants every other day much better. Please try the show meal that you have too book in The Lotus House great fun and meal lovely. We always used Miss Lou for coffee after dinner, thanks Colette who always made us welcome and the barman who always remembered what we liked. Drinks there very much top self. Wish it was adults only though! Did not use all the bars. Entertainment varied, dancers were good but not our thing , live music in Infinity Bar every evening was very good. Wish they had put the Steel Band on the stage. Singers at pools and restaurants during day . Favourite Shyam Moses, wish he had been on the evening. We are not pool people but you are spoilt for choice. We used the one near our room and could always get a sun bed. Custom Relations excellent, when our restaurant booking was cancelled and we were not informed they provided us with a nice bottle of wine. Would recommend this resort , but could do without the Spa and Travel Club hassling us everyday. But I suppose that is what they paid to do and they were always polite when we said no thank you. Did rain when we were there, hotel had some problems with the roof which leaked in a few places. All in all an excellent holiday , staff always polite and friendly a great asset. More

Terrific Family Resort in Jamaica
We stayed in a 1-bedroom suite. It was very clean, comfortable, and spacious. The rest of my family members stayed in junior suites. While some didn't get the bed choice requested or floor requested, all were clean and spacious. The staff were tremendously positive and welcoming throughout the resort. Any requests for extra towels or other items was done quickly and efficiently. The food was very good for an all inclusive resort. Throughout this resort's restaurants the allergy program was supervised by a team of highly competent chefs. (Chef Garry and Chef Jason) They made our holiday so enjoyable for those of us with allergies. It was a great comfort to know everyone receive delicious food free from allergens. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone who faces challenges related to allergies, like seafood or gluten. We were at the resort to celebrate our wedding, and our wedding planner delivered an experience beyond our dreams. She looked after the details related to food, venue, decorations and service throughout the process. She was incredibly thoughtful, patient and professional throughout the entire process. Thank you, Meloney.More
