A beachfront setting, a big swimming pool and plenty of food choices – the Riu Montego Bay proves its worth as a Jamaican retreat.
The Riu Montego Bay is fronted by a white ribbon of sand and shrouded in tropical palm gardens. Although it feels far from the crowd, it’s only a 10-minute drive from the town centre.
Everything at this hotel is given a luxurious twist – one of the two pools bristles with sunken loungers, the restaurants dress up to the nines, and the sea-view suites are accessorised with carved furniture.

Good family vacation
We went for my daughters spring break vacation. Good spot for a family vacation. Staff was awesome! Always making sure you have everything you need. Our room was one of the last rooms at the edge of the resort, pretty far from the pool/beach/restaurants. We did a lot of walking. They did keep our rooms clean and well stocked. Food was ok. Nothing great. We were lucky with awesome weather. If you want to lay by the pool/beach all day and drink, this is the spot to go.More
Amazing vacation for us!
Overall, awesome vacation! Everybody goes over and above to be sure you having everything you need. Entertainment staff is incredible! They are on the beach and at the pool EVERY MORNING greeting people, asking if everything is going all right for their stay etc.... Then their talents for pool and beach entertainment does not stop there. They put on night shows! These people work hard! The talent and dedication is I hope not overlooked by management. Our favorite was Sunshine( I am sure not her real name) but her personality, smile, talent and overall hard work. I cannot name them all but they were unbelievable. Our room was well stocked, safe and quiet with a few times some vacationers were having fun. A little dated, but we did not spend a lot of time there either. Bathroom mirror was kind of foggy and neede some light bulbs replaced is all. Food was great too good variety, friendly helpful waitstaff. All of the resturants were very good.More
VERY unhappy with the wedding services.
We held our wedding at the Montego Bay Resort. All in all we were highly disappointed with our experience at this resort in regards to our wedding. We chose our wedding package which was not cheap, and were not at all impressed with the service we were provided with. At first email communication, our wedding planner was not going to present me with any options, saying we could plan it when we got there. I was not happy with that so she finally sent me a flower catalog. I'm not sure if flowers would have even been ready or available had I waited until we got there. I had communicated with our wedding planner prior to the trip about giving guests "Welcome bags" and asking the best way to distribute these, since my group was coming on 2 separate flights. I had thought delivery to guests rooms, or handed to them while they checked in, but I was told neither would be possible. It was basically left to me, and no help was offered to ease to process. Although she did purchase rum bottles and attached labels to them for our group, I was presented with the box of them at check in and basically left to my own to distribute. Upon meeting with our wedding coordinator, (who arrived 10 mins late to our rescheduled meeting, I missed the first one) she was unaware of how many guests we had (although my travel agent sent her a full list), she did not know which wedding package or photography package we had selected (both emailed to her and handled through the resort), and she was not impressed that she did not have my flower invoice. This was something she needed so I had to schedule another meeting with her the following day. Again, I waited 10-15 mins for her to arrive to our appointment. Finally, on the wedding day the flowers arrived late to our room, then she had to rush to put on the boutonnieres of the groom/men. She then had to come back and get us, and by this time we were already behind schedule. After the ceremony we got our champagne toast, which we had requested to get at the reception dinner. We did not ever receive Special decoration in the room, Fruit with chocolate & bottle of sparkling wine for the wedding couple, or Two bags of petals. The petals were to be at the ceremony, as discussed in our first visit with the planner. For the amount we brought to and spent at the resort, we did not even fully receive the package we paid for. We were supposed to have late check out, but when I contacted the front desk they had no idea and told me to check back the following day. It just seemed very unorganized and made the entire process very sad and frustrating. I felt as though I was just another wedding they were powering through as opposed to it being my special day. I would not recommend this resort for a wedding.More
I had a good time!
My stay at the RIU was great! The food was good, the drinks were flowing and the staff was very friendly! There was a good selection of restaurants that were all equally good. The pools were amazing and the bartenders were so willing to go out of their way to make you happy. I would definitelyMore
Amazing time at the Riu
We went with a group of 20 various ages for my sisters wedding. We had read some negative reviews about this hotel and I wasn't expecting much, this was our first time in Jamaica and we all LOVED it.... Yes the rooms are outdated but you don't go on holiday to sit your room and they were cleaned everyday and fresh towels and no one complained about the beds, they were comfy enough. The pool area was lovely especially the pool bar, rum strawberry daiquiris mmmm and plenty of daytime entertainment We spent most days at the beach, which was beautiful with a light breeze, plenty to of shade from the trees, we did put towels on the sunbeds early in the morning (this is generally every hotel I have been to ) the sea was gorgeous, a bit of seaweed but wasn't a problem. The food in the buffet was good there was something for everyone, we only went the Italian restaurant once but the queues was not that as bad as I had imagined and we ate in the steak restaurant for the wedding reception. The Entertainmnet team were absolutely fantastic. They work so hard and are so friendly stopping for a chat in the day and we loved coping their dance moves. They made such a fuss of my 9 year old niece. They put on good entertainment in the evenings, one little thing... it would have been good for the music and dancing outside to stay on till midnight, we went the Pacha nightclub a couple of times but it was usually full of teenagers. The hotel put on taxi shuttles to take you across the busy road to the shops and we booked them take us on the excursions for a group of us this worked out lots cheaper than the agents in the hotel. The only one problem was when we arrived they didn't have three beds in a room we had booked and the cot wasn't in one which they had to wait till the next day, which was pretty bad as we booked this over 18 months ago. All in all we all had a fantastic holiday and my sisters wedding day was beautiful, I would definitely recommend this Hotel and would come again.More
