This adults-only hotel leads its debut with a prime beach position and four à la carte restaurants.
Soft white sand comes to your doorstep at this beachfront hotel. There’s a relaxed vibe to the place, though it’s just 10 minutes’ drive from Montego Bay and its line-up of shops, restaurants and nightlife.
The hotel sits next door to the Riu Montego Bay and, as such, you can move between the two for bars and restaurants. When it comes to the huge pool, though, you’ll probably want to stay put.

Even when it rains, Jamaica delights the visitor
My wife and I have just spent ten delightful days at the Riu Palace! This is one of the newer RIU establishments having opened four years ago. When facing the sea, the Riu Montego Bay is to the right while the Riu Reggae is to the left. As a Palace Guest you have full use of the other two establishments (except for their a la carte restaurants), guests of the Reggae and Montego Bay are restricted to crossing the Palace's beach to reach the other hotel. This keeps the Palace quiet (couples only) and you never have a problem getting a sunbed, snack or drink. The Reggae and Montego Bay both have varied entertainment programs throughout the week while the Palace has more low key entertainment, Magic Show, Live Music, Water Ballet, etc. so guests at the Palace have a large variety of entertainment available. As long as you don't mind the purple and chrome themed decoration, the Palace is a peaceful and welcoming hotel in a country whose natives seem invariable happy. The staff are efficient, courteous and above all happy! I should mention a few who made our stay memorable; Brian (Reception), Crystal (main dining room), Tamesha (Breakfast and Lunch), Ian and Maureen (Aqua Bar) and DD (Vogue Bar). Cleaners appears to be working 24/7 so the place was always spotless. Unusually (in our experience) for a RIU, reservations are not needed for the A la carte restaurants. The Palace has a Steak House, Main Dining Room, plus Asian, Italian and Fusion A la carte's. The accommodation is spacious and well appointed with efficient and quiet air conditioning, WC, wet room style shower, twin vanity washroom and whirlpool bath plus the usual enormous bed, bedside cabinets, couch, coffee table, table and chairs, dresser with four spacious drawers, large double wardrobe (with free safe), large wallmounted TV. As well as the usual hair dryer, robes, iron and ironing board. We also had a large balcony with chairs and table, a well stocked fridge and mini bar completed the facilities. A nice touch from housekeeping was the little motto left by the turn-down service staff giving a local saying, translation and meaning. The all inclusive aspect of the holiday is available 24/7, this includes room service which is also free. The food on offer in both the main dining room and the a la carte's is varied and delicious. While the main dining room usually concentrates on international dishes, they do have themed evenings (Jamaican and Mexican were two we experienced). While most of the dishes were familiar, the curried goat, jerked chicken and large variety of ice cream flavours were novel. It rained a couple of times during our stay, the first time started mid-afternoon, afterwards we spotted a number of the tiniest hermit crabs I've ever seen were making their way around the hotel paths. The shell's these crabs occupied were only a centimetre or less long. One made it as far as Reception before being returned to the beach. We also spotted a humming bird, a few pelicans and a single lizard during our holiday. This was the sixth Riu we have stayed at and we found this chain have never disappointed (Hilton take note). We'd recommend the Palace and Jamaica to anyone who wants a laid back holiday in a spectacular country where you are made welcome by everyone.More

RIU PALACE IN MONTEGO BAY
Stayed at this hotel first week of June for about 5 days. We got to the hotel around 1pm and check in was for 3pm, however we got in the room a little earlier. the room was very clean and nice . no evidence of bedbugs. bathroom was very clean and everything was functional. We paid for ocean view but got a room we weren't expecting . My concept of ocean view was directly looking at the water however you can look at the pics to see what counts as ocean view. We were disappointed at that and requested another room but again it was not clear cut and palm trees were in the way of the water. We finally gave up and just stayed in our room. As for food, its free as this is an all inclusive resort . The buffet food was above average and had very nice options. There are three restuarants that people can attend that you dont reservations for. The only thing is that men must where pants, that is the only requirement. Very nice and elegant, in my opinion, and the service was excellent. Keep in mind, you get service at the buffet and that was also excellent as well. Most of the workers almost do everything to make your experience a good one. Tips are included but doesn't hurt to tip o n the side, in my opinion. Nobody seemed to really expect anything, which i find very important. I usually tip 2 dollars US to room service and the waiters . If you are exceptional , I would give a little more. The pools were nice and the beach was clean. Bring plenty of suntan lotion. While sitting i n beach chairs, waiters will bring you drinks. The drinks are on the weaker side so be prepared to drink a lot if you want a buzz. There are bottles in the hotel room, with their staple Appleton Rum and some bottom shelf liquor. They will get the job done,if you need to drink to enjoy yourself. They replenish the liquor every day. The fridge has plenty of water and soda . You have access to the two hotels that are next to this one. overall this was a great experience, would probably do again.More

Not all that I was expecting
I felt overall the experience left something to be desired in comparison to other all inclusive resorts I've been to. Starting with positive things the room was cleaned daily and the room cleaning was well done and took great care with our belongings when cleaning the room. It had all the accommodations that were listed in the description of the resort. I however was not pleased with the dining. You won't have trouble sleeping because the music stops around 9pm and the clubs are kept far from the rooms. There is no such things as a late dinner here which was disappointing because if you returned late from an excursion or wanted to get dressed up and did not make it downstairs in time you were left with the buffet and snack bar as your only option. In a 4 day stay I ate at only 1 of the restaurants and the food there was not great I only enjoyed the appetizers. Everything starts late and closes early on the resort. If you like to start the day early with activities you won't be able to do so on the resort. You will barely see people from the resort out and about until 9:30 10:00 am. The rooms require a room key for the power to be on in the room so no charging devices when your not in your room. The shower didn't work in our room on the first day. There was no comforter on the bed just sheets and the purple blanket from our closet, though I'm sure had been cleaned was stained, as well as the pillow case. I just didn't enjoy the stay overall and do not recommend I'm sure there are simply better resorts.More
2nd Stay at the Riu Palace Jamaica...We will be back again!
Ok so you know a place is great when you review it again! I have to start out by saying that our waiter Osbourne remembered us from last year and each morning for breakfast he knew exactly what we wanted. He also knew what we liked for lunch. He kept the drinks coming and we appreciate him remembering us. The property is always clean and the staff is always friendly. There was always enough beach chairs and shade. The FOOD is excellent as always and there is always a variety. We were going to try the specialty restaurants but decided that the buffet was so good! We love that the Riu remembered what side we stayed on last year and put us back in a familiar spot. Everyone at the hotel was so attentive and we appreciated that touch! Can't wait to book our next stay there!More
