Writing this whilst still here. Welcome : nicely greeted at the reception. Had everything explained. Bags taken to the room. The porter hovered for a minute expecting a tip, but I explained I didn't have money and he went. He did explain the room to us before he went, so no problems there. The free internet is for 2 devices with limited things to do on it. I would advise paying for the upgrade on this, it if not, then it is ok, just remember and disconnect your devices when your not using them. Only 2 devices connected at any one time. Block : we are in block 2. Not too far and not too close. Blocks 3 and 4 are further away, but you might like the quieter areas. The beach reaches the length of the hotel, which is great. ( spoke to others from other hotels and were lucky) it is a walk if you just want a brew or a drink, but after 10am the beach bars open, so it's not a million miles and it's nice scenery on the way. Room : aesthetically, a bit dated, but has everything you would need. Toilet / shower ( decent, but not powerful) / fully stocked fridge and optics. ( if you want tea/coffee as at reception for this extra). Huge bed. Firm and comfortable air con and fan, a.though the room can get cold at night. Flatscreen to on the wall.limited channels, but I'm on holiday. If I wanted to watch to, I'd have stayed at home. Plenty of towels. Shower dispenser on wall. Suited me as I have short hair, but be prepared and take your own. View : could see the sea and the third pool from the balcony. Not too public or private, but nice. Food : this is where the hotel lets itself down. The specialty restaurants don't seem to change their menu and there isn't anything for vegetarians. Some vegetarians don't eat fish or poultry. The main buffet restaurants didn't alter the. End much and a lot of the food was bland. Don't get me wrong though, there was a lot of it and I only ever saw 1 empty tray for a few seconds. The staff were friendly enough and efficient. If you hand over a tip, you get better service, but the standard was good enough. Beach : close enough to crawl to. Long enough to walk out of any of the blocks and be on it. Plenty of loungers and scattered hammocks between the trees. You can walk out about 60 metres to the safety rope and still be touching the bottom. Scattered seaweed, but nothing too much there's an annoying stingray that was always swimming around but not close enough to touch or get a selfie with. Quite a few fish close i and if you take bread out, they will flock around you. The sand is quite hard and so is the shallows. But it is clean and white. The staff fake it every day. Locals : to the left of the beach there are locals selling wares. They do not hassle you or get in your face and are up for haggling the price. Things to do : you can spend as much as you want or as little. The bob Marley tour is 3 hours drive away. It's an island, but everything is not on your doorstep we did the half moon bay tour. Relaxing as hell. Entertainment : cheesy but constant. Staff are friendly and always try and get you involved. Different themes each night, but you try and get different family friendly programme for every day of the year. 😉 when it is on, there is still ample places to go and not be near it. 24 hours : there is a 24/7 sports bar. It serves all the drinks and has limited snack food. Sandwiches and burgers/hotdogs. It's snack food. If you want a meal, go to one of the restaurants. Pool table costs money which is a bit of a downer, but it has about 5 TVs showing sport. Overall : really good hotel. We spoke to people who paid a lot more and got a lot less. This is a Jamaican 5 star hotel. Bit weathered but more than adequate and the staff are really friendly. Most important question : would we come back? Answer : yes most definitely. More
Got back from riu club negril yesterday (sunday 20th november). We stayed in room 2024 which looked out over one of the pools and had a view of the ocean (if you strained your neck a little). The room was perfecr. Very clean. Very spacious and with lots of storage space for clothes. Would like to say a big big thanks to paulette for putting up with us. She was great. The food was lovely. The main buffet had Lots of choice and was very tasty. All the staff were lovely and very helpful. There are also restaurants which you can visit on a first come first served basis. There is an italian which we weren't to keen on. Mainly due to the food which just wasnt to our taste the staff were great though. There is also a steak restaurant with choice of t-bone steak, fish or chicken. What can i say but Delicious. There was also the chinese buffet restaurant which was also delicious with wine glasses topped up regularly. There are 4 pools in all. A small kiddie pool with slides etc. A large pool with swim up bar. This is the pool where all games took place. There is a smaller family pool next to main pool and a swim pool which was situated outside our room. All pools had plenty of beds with shade if needed. More
The hotel is very nice and clean. The restaurants are excellent with excellent service. The buffet was also excellent with a big variety to choose from. You could not ask for better service. Always smiling and always asking if you need anything or if you are ok. The best service and friendly people compared to anywhere else we have been. The Amination team.....AMAZING....Starboard and spotlight and the rest of the team(I don't know all their names) were excellent. Thankyou for such a great time. The beach is ok but the grass in the ocean makes for sea urchins and stingrays and the sand sinks when you step on it. Not so good. Their are always a lot of vendors and they are all selling pot and smokIng it. So parents be aware if you have children. Overall we really enjoyed our vacation and would recommend this hotel.More
So we read so many negative reviews about ClubHotel Rui before our holiday which was June 1st (back yesterday). Our stay was amazing, hotel was clean, beach was beautiful, the entertainment staff were hilarious and wow can they dance! Listen if you're going to moan about Mosquitos then go to the North Pole, yes they're a pain but people come on, you cant go to a hot country and expect nothing! The food was awesome, my partner was having platefuls, now struggling to fit in his clothes now were home. The only negative i can think of is the shop on site is expensive so best to make sure you take plenty of provisions. I can still here the vendor who walked daily up and down the beach 'ciggggerettes, cigars cigars cigars' which always made me laugh. Fantastic holiday. Paul the bartender is a legend. 100% be back next year.. Holiday blues now setting in.. More
Ignore the negative reviews, Riu Negril is a great resort. The only negative was the ride from the airport, it was 1.5 hours. Everything at the Riu was excellent. The staff were all friendly and helpful our entire stay. One of the reasons I love Jamaica are the people! We ate at all the restaurants, the Asian was our favorite! You can always find something to eat at the buffet. It was nice not having to make reservations at the restaurants, we never had a problem getting a seat if we were there at 6:30. We also went on the catamaran excursion to Ricks Cafe. It was one of the highlights of the trip. We booked it through our Apple Representative. We could have spent more time at Ricks and less at Margaritaville, which we told the apple rep. I also had a pedicure are he spa with Ophelia, who I would highly recommend!!! She did a great job! Overall, had a great vacation and would recommend Riu, don't be swayed by the negative reviews!More
