A beachfront setting and a great choice of restaurants come together at the ClubHotel Riu Negril. Plus, it had a makeover in Autumn 2015.
The ClubHotel Riu Negril is pulled up against the beach, so it’s got front row sea views.
The hotel has a recently-added pool and restaurant, plus modernised rooms. And all public areas and the restaurants have had a once-over as well.

Great weather, great sites, good times, Ya Man
Got to see some of the great places while staying at the clean RIU enjoying their pools, food and entertainment. Considering the area had recently been affected by a major huricane the beach and all the facilities were spotless and welcoming. A great place to get away from hometown winter.More
Me and my family love everything about this place there isn't a thing We would change, food and drinks 24 hours for everybody. The staff is lovely and really friendly. Rooms are clean and very spacious. Wifi is for free only at the entrance around the reception, if you want it in your room you will have to pay for it. Food is awesome, u can eat whatever u like there are 5 restaurants in the resort where u get to try real Jamaican food as well as many other types. Every night they offer a different show and their dancers are very talented. What can I say more ? Can't wait to come back . One love More

First time to Jamaica
We just got back from a great stay at the Riu! I had read many reviews and to admit was a little skeptical. From the previous reviews... yes the fire alarms go off, one time it was 3 AM. Only one person at reception was a little off and not as friendly as the others, it took a little while to get our luggage delivered to the room when we arrived. And the keys stopped working two out of the 4 days we were there. Definitely want to stay in buildings 1 or 2, so much closer. Also this resort is an hour and a half from the airport on bumpy windy roads. Not good for those that get car sick! The good parts...food is good and to be expected, I had no issues with it. Jamaican jerk chicken was the bomb! Steakhouse was so good we went twice in our short stay. Mandalay was good, breakfast buffet had awesome variety. Every person we came across was super friendly, always greeted with a friendly hey mon. with the exception of that one, maybe it was just a bad day. Fabion at the beach bar was amazing! Waitstaff were super friendly. P.S. you should tip! I'd say the staff made this place. Yes there are vendors on the beach that try and sell you everything but they are actually really nice, and if you say no thank you they leave you alone. :) The beach is perfect if you ask me. A little bit of seaweed but nothing that would stop you from going in the water. Overall I'd go back definitely! After talking to a few other couples that stayed at other placed they all said the RIU was one of the better ones. Not having to make reservations for dinner is definitely helpful, you don't have to rush off the beach. But don't get there too late because you may miss out! Drinks are okay, the liquor dispensers in the room come in handy to top them off. I'd definitely go back to the RIU!More

Only let down is food and drinks
We stayed hear last month and had a fantastic time. As a group of 7 aged between 15 - 80 we were unsure if this resort would have something for everyone. I however cannot fault the talented entertainment team. Without a doubt, they work extremely hard to ensure that everyone has a great time. The majority of the evening shows are spectacular and they even have enough energy to take photos with the children. I do however believe that some of them need to work on their persuasive tactics when encouraging audience participation for the pre-show. I do not feel we are on vacation to feel pressured and guilt if we do not want to take part. The only reason why i am giving this hotel 3 stars is due to the food and drinks. Whilst checking in, we were told the hotel was only 1/3 full. As a result, in the buffet there was not a high enough turn over of food resulting in many dishes being warm or even cold. The buffet does have a very good selection of food for everyone and 4 other restaurants are great. Staff also admitted that the alcohol in the bars and in the room is watered down. This must be true because it had very little effect compared to drinks served outside of the resort. ADVICE: everything onsite at this place is financially negotiable. From the taxis to the onsite photography. Never take first price offered.More
Management PLEASE read!!!!
The facilities were quite lovely however, the food needs improvement. The food was quite bland and not well seasoned. PLEASE include MORE local Jamaican dishes! Why not showcase more local dishes?? Tourists would like to try tasty local food without having to leave the resort. Also PLEASE label ingredients for vegetarians, vegans and people with food allergies and dietary restrictions. The kitchen staff didn't seem to know how food was prepared or what ingredients were used. I had to seek out head chef to find out that information. On another note, I am quite a generous tipper but the days I didn't tip ( because didn't walk with cash due to being on beach or rushing) the service wasn't as good or attentive. Two days I forgot to leave a tip for housekeeping as I was rushing for the breakfast buffet, my room was not cleaned as well as the days I left a tip!!! Also, the ladies at the spa were very aggressive and guilted me into services by saying that they only work on commission. I have heard from the employees that they are reliant on tips as they are poorly paid but I feel the service should be consistent regardless if one tips well or not. For this reason, during my next visit to Jamaica, I will stay at a Sandals resort.More
