This hotel offers up cabin-style rooms surrounded by tropical gardens. And it’s just a short stroll from a white-sand beach.
This beachfront hotel’s got a great spot in serene Runaway Bay. It’s a short walk to the town’s restaurants and bars. And at the hotel, accommodation comes in the form of little wooden cottages.
There are sea views from the main pool and the waterfront Asian à la carte. Or you can get a prime shot of the ocean from the cocktail bar. Down at the beach, there’s a range of watersports, too.

Quiet and relaxing holiday
We chose Royal Decameron because it looked like a smaller quieter type of accomodation and we were not disappointed. The resort is older but some of the buildings are of more recent construction. Most of the accommodations are individual cottages and the privacy is quite good. For the most part the resort is in good repair but you may have to overlook a few rough edges. Minor things, really. The staff, however more than makes up for any shortcomings. Very friendly and accommodating. Our maid Carmelita was a dear soul. We had requested a cottage in a quiet location and upon arrival we were upgraded to a beachfront cottage. Very nice but the sound of the waves was a bit much even with earplugs. The food was good to very good. A different theme every night and rotates about every 5 days, so there will be a repeat. Good if there was something you really liked and hoped to have again. I would recommend avoiding the a la carte restaurants. The food is not really any better than the buffet and the service is slow. Breakfasts are excellent with lots of fresh fruit. Sharky's restaurant is a short walk away and is very good if you tire of the resort fare. There are day trips available at the resort with hefty prices for transportation and not including admissions. We took the local transportation to Ocho Rios and back twice with no problems. Quite safe really. And it's J$130 per person one way. All in all highly recommended especially if you're on a budget.More
Is it cheaper to book through Thomson's trips in Jamaica or when we get there through the rep we would like to go to Bob Marley's house and the booze cruise and Dunraven Falls does horse riding on the beachMore
Absolutely fantastic holiday!!
Wow, not sure what happened for Lauren from Texas but sounds like she stayed at a different place!!! This place was fantastic, the food was beautiful every day, my husband and I stayed here with our adult daughter 22 , our 27 yr old son and his girlfriend our youngest daughter aged 11 and our grandson aged 2. All of us had a fantastic holiday, the cottages are charming and the staff work tirelessly to ensure everyone has a lovely holiday. We cannot praise this place enough it is very authentic and you have a good chance to see Jamaica as it really is. We left the hotel and walked out locally and the local people were lovely - treat them with respect is all that is necessary. If you are thinking of visiting Jamaica this is the perfect place to go. We have travelled widely with our family over the years and this definitely did not disappoint. We will definitely go back again and have already made lots of wonderful memories to treasure.More
A really great holiday!
I'm not too sure if the lady from Texas was actually in the same hotel as us!!!!!!! Please don't be put off by her review, it was extremely negative and not how we found the staff or accommodation. We stayed the first week of April, it was very windy but that helped with the heat of the sun. We stayed in Hut No. 63. It was a great location, away from the bar and entertainment, and we literally had to step out on to the beach each morning. We went to sleep each night with the sound of the waves. It was wonderful. Our little hut was kept immaculately clean, although the maid did have a funny way of making the bed each day! Yes the room isn't elaborate, but then who wants to stay in the room when there is the lovely island to explore. The main thing was, it was clean; it was roomy; it was right on the beach and had a magnificent view. The charge for the safe is $14 a week, hardly enough to moan about, to keep your things safe. The water sports that were free, kayaking, sailing, pedalos. The sea was only rough on one day, but you could still go in but not out too far, there was always a life guard on duty. The entertainment was quite samey, but each evening the band came on at 8pm and for an hour played really good reggae, especially the Bob Marley songs. The food was good, plenty of variety, I agree the Thai restaurant was a bit disappointing, not the staff, but the food. I would stick to the buffet restaurant. The bar staff and drinks were excellent, I cannot think of one alcoholic drink we had that did not "pack a punch". I loved the Coconut Colada. The trips on offer were excellent, we did Nine Mile Village (which was brilliant and we were taken around by Bob Marley's cousin "Fozzy"). Swimming with the dolphins at Dolphin Cove, (this was the highlight of my week!) and Mystic Mountain (we both had the best time ever there). If you want The Ritz obviously it's no good booking a 3/4 star hotel, but I would recommend Royal Decameron Hotel, for good food, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and clean accommodation.More

Can I go back now?!
Well what can I say about the Royal Decameron, Runaway Bay. This place is amazing and I am literally just about to rebook to go again! I will probably make this place my home from home. We arrived in the afternoon and check in was great. We had a welcome drink on arrival and with just a short wait we were shown to our room. There were 7 of us aged between 1 and 81 years of age and so were given 3 rooms next to each other, which was great. The rooms are spacious and the bed is pretty huge. There is space to hang clothes, iron, hairdryer and all the things you might need. We had a fridge in our room, which was great with a baby who had snacks and drinks to keep cool. Yvonne was our housekeeper and she ensured the rooms were clean and tidy each day and she always made sure we had everything we needed. If we needed anything extra, we called Reception and someone came right away, which was great. There is the main restaurant, which has a good selection of different foods; fish, meat, fresh bread, salads etc. I have been to other hotels where the selection is huge and sometimes overwhelming and you just put everything on your plate. Whereas here the choice is smaller but we all loved the food and really couldn't complain about going hungry. In the evening there is a different theme each night, particularly loved the Mexican night. The Jasmine Delta snack bar is open in the day and of an evening so if you fancy pizza, burgers and chips that is the place to go and the food is delicious! The beach is beautiful and I love that it has the coves as it keeps the beach quiet. There are always sunbeds available so no problem there. It is very windy on the beach so the temperature can be deceiving so make sure you have plenty of sun cream on. The beach attendants and life guards were great, very friendly and always keen to have a chat. They worked so hard to keep the beach clean and sea weed free - which isn't easy! You are never too far away from a bar, whether it is the main bar, jetty bar etc. There are two pools at the hotel - the main pool which is lively and noisy but there is also the quiet pool - which isn't that quiet anymore due to the bars on the street but it is good if you just want to chill out. Last year it was solely restricted to adults only but I noticed this year there were some older children with red wrist bands on which is fine if they are quiet but it could of been problem had there been a larger number of them. The bar has a great range of drinks available and I particularly enjoyed sampling every cocktail! My only issue is the bar staff just aren't particularly friendly and don't actually seem to want to make you a drink. Sometimes you would wait for ages to be served and even then if someone is tipping they would go straight to them first. So if you want to be served quickly, tip the bar staff! Now at the start of the holiday we didn't want to participate in any of the entertainment. However, as the days passed we got into the spirit of it all and soon enough we participated in everything - beach games, quizzes etc. The entertainment is largely based on audience participation, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. However, shout out to my nan who won Miss Best Legs and my brother who was crowned Mr Rastaman and Mr Banana Man. I will say the evening entertainment isn't for everyone. Its suppose to be fun and light hearted and if you expect epic shows then it isn't the place for you. If you don't like reggae, then this place isn't for you and neither is Jamaica! The entertainment would rotate between game shows, the club dancers and a range of reggae singers - which is what I would expect in Jamaica. The club dancers are fantastic and they put on some great shows, particularly the synchronised dancing. Big shout out to Mr. Alberto, who was great fun and left us shouting "applausa" every 5 seconds. We even managed to get him to do karaoke!!! Now to my favourites Mr Kool and Raiza, they literally made our holiday. They took time to sit and chat with us and got all of the family involved. They are literally 2 of the funniest guys I've ever met and I would go back just to see these boys!!! Stay Shiny boys, from the Shiny Boss and the Shiny CEO.More
