My best friends and I were a little nervous traveling to Mexico, we wanted to make sure we stayed at a good hotel with good food and cleanliness. Let me tell you. Hard Rock was U N - B E L I E V A B L E!!! We did the all inclusive package through a travel agency, and let me tell you. They wait on you hand a foot, fresh food and drinks ALL DAY LONG, the food throughout the resort was to die for. Must have gained 50 pounds lol. The room was BEAUTIFUL! The staff was AMAZING and sweeet and helpful. It was one of the best vacations of my life. I would NEVER want to try anywhere else. We plan on going back summer of 2017 and we cannot wait! The drinks were amazing, the beach is beautiful and clean, the pool area was huge and beautiful! Just an all around amazing resort.More
Over all very nice and clean. However, the room states adults only, that is true for the rooms on that side of the hallway, they have an ocean view with a king size bed, and they only put adults in these rooms. Yet on the other side of the hallway are families with children. This is a very family orientated, a lot of kids running around up until around 9 pm. . Love our travel agent Jayne Carlton with Beach Bum Vacations.More
Old, dirty, smelly
Visited Xmas - NY. Gutted! Its an old, dirty, smelly hotel with decent staff but bad managers, who, with the many painters and plumbers and joiners around the place are trying to keep this dump barely functioning. This is not a 5 star hotel. It is not a 4 star Hotel. And anyone who says others has not stayed in real luxury Hotels i.e. Park Hyatt, Sandals, Ritz Carlton, Obberoi etc etc. .... We were there for 15 nights- spent most of them wishing we were at home and tearing out hair out at how such an expensive!!!! ( Thompson) holiday (Rock Royalty Platinum!!) could have turned out this bad. ( could have, should have gone back to Sandals for the same money!) 1st room - lasted 5 days, because felt embarrassed at complaining about the dark, dampness of the room that made my clothes damp as well as the bedlinen. Then there were the Sunbeds on the patio outside- dirty and full of cigarette burns- one of my 2 Concierges told me they are all the same in the Hotel, there are no better ones available!! Then the cooking smells from the grill bar just outside our room- with people sitting at tables right outside our room- couldn't open the curtains. The bedside rugs were filthy , I had to talk to a supervisor to have them cleaned. Same for the Dirty, old, smelly hall carpets outside the rooms. Final straw was when I got a chest infection from the dampness. I spent 2 days in bed, we decided it was time to complain. We complained very politely to the reception staff and they were very helpful and after an hour of waiting, they moved us to a similar room on the same level but the other side of the lifts- what a difference in dampness, light and cleanliness! - but the sun loungers were still stained and cigarettes burned, both of them. Then, the first morning, I went outside, only to discover bits of broken glass on the patio and on our neighbours patio and also on the area surrounding the Rock Royalty Bar area that someone above had dropped (thank God we weren't outside when it happened! It put us off sitting outside!)but no one noticed this, just us, so we had to complain again and bring it to their attention. Then the next day there were cigar and cigarettes on the patio, and the next they were joined by chocolate papers etc etc etc and so it went on, Culminating in the patio 2 up from us having their sunbed set on fire from a stray discarded cigarette/cigar butt- that got their attention! And the smell afterwards....!! Then there was the smell from either the a/c or the continual painters outside, I couldn't figure it out- disinfectant mixed with paint? Ah but this almost made me forget about the usual dirty bedside rugs..... In the common areas, you have one inside bar area manned by very nice older men- apologies but not v Rock n Roll, no eye candy there girls! But no worries, because most of the time you can't get a seat anyway as the kids take over the place! Disappointedly Hardly anyone Dresses Up at night. (The one exception was NY Eve, I saw people making an effort for the one and only time and it was a well done event by HR- I must congratulate them for that. But that was IT.) Re smells, just outside the HR shop towards the reception area, every day there was the smell of bad, bad, bad drains- and nothing changed for 15 days, it's obviously accepted as normal?!? As for the food, the Brazilian restaurant is ok but the Italian is basic and a hit and miss. I didn't rate the Asian restaurant either. The other eating places are not very good with tepid food, always tepid. Definitely not 4/5 star. The beach is beautiful but the sea is v v dangerous. The many lifeguards around don't let you enter the sea immediately adjacent to HR Hotel, instead guiding you to either side of it. You can easily see why, the riptides all congregate immediately opposite the main part of the hotel. Lethal. And as for the side part of the sea, the lifeguards don't allow you to swim, Just walk out to waist level, whereupon you get battered by the huge waves, followed by the undercurrent then trying to grab your ankles, Great Fun for an Adult, but I wouldn't let a kid in there, in my opinion too dangerous- and I love big waves, i.e. in the Algarve. But this isn't safe and we heard rumours of mishaps. As for the pool - ok for walking about in or standing st the bar to the incessant rantings of one of the staff at the DJ stance beside the pool, but not so easy to swim in. The Spa was good, enjoyed 2 massages there. The first was a couples one and the room was nicer than the next, solitary, one I had in a bit of a dark empty room in an annexe outside, up stairs, at the back of Spa building. And Timeshare- They don't tell you that a large part of the Hotel is a huge Time Share Resort, with the timeshare people and their 15-20 plus extended families, taking over not only the pool area (The Germans have a lot of competition here for sunbeds!) but also at Breakfast ( must mention the 2 brill members of staff here - unique!- O'Brien and Luis- genuinely nice people, not 'plastic smiles'!) and at night in the Only inside bar area! (Which by the way, needs cleaning and modernising). And be prepared to run the gauntlet of the prams and kids everywhere. ( see earlier comment re kids/ bar seats). Not v Rock n Roll. ( one night we had 1950's Jazz music playing ?!?! ) And as for the occasional bands that play a couple of times each week, nobody even listens to them as they are situated in the pool/ games area above the bar, which is full of kids where the parents turn the seats around to watch their kids, thereby leaving the band to look at the back of seats and the back of heads! Not a great atmosphere....So much for Hard Rock?! Finally, because I've lost the will to live at this point! There is the Late Checkout that Thompson mention in the booking -we were leaving at 14.30, so we really needed later checkout or even just 14.00. So we asked our Concierge about this when we first arrived, but he never got back to us, so nearer our departure date we mentioned it again......deep consternation!.....not possible!......no way! But by that time I just didn't care and I decided to hold my ground. So I said - Yes, we are having a late checkout thank you very much! And after many days of trying to ignore my request for confirmation of this, we were eventually, finally, informed that we could have our late checkout. What a pain! All for a simple late checkout, especially when they were quiet after NY and especially after our bad experience at their Hotel! Horrible.More

We're getting married here in July, so naturally we made an appointment to come visit the property, talk to vendors and check out the resort. It was perfect! The Hard Rock offers a different vibe from the usual resort. We loved that you can rent out guitars to take to your room for practice, for free! And that they have a program where you can learn how to play an instrument, dj, make a music video, write your own songs, all included for free as well! It's a fun place to go and unwind. We were sad to leave. Even though it's pricey, we strongly recommend staying on the Rock Royalty level! The perks of that level alone are awesome, but the rooms were amazing! We can't wait to go back in July with our friends and family. The wedding is going to be stunning because their beautiful beach and terrace are perfect for our big day!More
