worth a stay
Me and the fiancée (celebrating engagement)chose this hotel because it was reasonable priced. The rooms are basic but good condition. The food is also good and was surprised that the steaks (steak restaurant)were really tasty!.There are only 4 restaurants and 1 of those is the buffet. I feel there should be some sort of dress code at the restaurants because I don't think it's appropriate that people are allowed to enter wearing beach clothing!!some women wearing bikinis!!.They also have a sports bar with games and pool tables but was amazed that you had to pay!!! and there not cheap.Numerous bars around the hotel ( not premium alcohol).A good point is the free WI-FI in the lobby. Another week left yet so I will put a final post next week. All in all not a bad hotelððMore
Amazing Service and lots going on
I went there during the Christmas holidays (Dec.24-31st) through Sunwing vacations. My friend and I went there as we booked 2 weeks beforehand, it was the only hotel within our price range. They are really strict on checking-out & lack of flexibility for a higher level. But close proximity to pool access & restaurants. MAKE sure you put the do not disturb sign out if you don't want your rooms cleaned at 10AM in the morning! They usually knock and come right in. No wi-fi in hotel rooms, but everywhere else. (we tried on the balcony- near the city streets, didn't work either) The entertainment crew was great, very engaging. We tried out all the activities available. One of the downfalls is being the only Riu with no club. We also have access to the sister hotel (Riu Cancun), not the one next door (Riu Palace). But its only 4 min bus ride away.More
Came here in December & absolutely loved it!!! The food was really good & I'm a really fussy eater....stayed in quite a few riu's & this is one of the best. The service is what sets this hotel apart....all the staff were great especially the beach waiters, will be returning!!More

Spent the week from January 5-12 at Riu Caribe, Cancun. The resort is lively and fun without being too much. Activities are loud and exciting, even if you just watch from the sidelines. At the same time there is so much space that there is room to just relax and be lazy if you so desire. The weather was not the greatest for the week, but the beauty of Cancun is that you can just walk or take a bus and go explore, if a beach day is not in the cards. We did not have the beachy vacation we were counting on, but we still had a great time. The food here is good for all inclusive and there is certainly enough choice. The staff is super efficient and the right people are at the bars to make sure that even quiet nights outside the lobby bar is fun (Cristianos was "our" guy- excellent choice and good decision) as well as Paco in the buffet who made my cappuccino with an extra espresso to perfection every morning. The rooms are basic, but roomy and clean and I still miss the large walk in shower in the bathroom. A vacation is what you make if it, and Riu Caribe Cancun, is an excellent choice for a home base when you want to have a great time. See you next year Riu Caribe.More
Please stay elsewhere- bad customer service!
I'm currently here with my husband until 1/16/17, and if I could leave and stay at a real 5 star resort, I would. The entire time we have been here, the customer service has been less than satisfactory. Cancun has a wide variety of 5 star hotels, please research, because this Riu chain disappoints. Twice, we were given access too the jacuzzi for ten minutes & then asked to leave, because of "reservations". Can you imagine paying for an all inclusive hotel, and being told reservations were needed for pools, jacuzzis, and amenities. They have over 500 rooms, and a 6 person capacity jacuzzi. For a resort this big, this is very unfair. The person I dealt with regarding this inconvenience was Magaly at the spa, and she was rude, not helpful, and condescending. The rooms are basic at best, and nothing to write home about. Food is okay, again, nothing to write home about. Elida, at the buffet, was also rude & not client orientated. I loved cancun, and most people I met here were great, drinks are great. However, Riu Caribe customer service is lacking. When I return to cancun, I most surely will stay else where. I trusted the reviews I read here, but when you have traveled and stayed at real 5 star resorts that cater to all, this chain falls short, and I wish I had spent my money elsewhere. Would not recommend!!!! Very disappointed!!!!!! More
