We have stayed at sun palace 4 times now. Just came back on mothers day. the beach is to die for! clear beautiful water, sparkling white sand. The food is great at the Italian restaurant and the thai restaurant. Outside "the steak" is a good choice too. I just wish they had a buffet type dinner menu as the restaurants have the same thing on the menu every night. We highly recommend the Chinese restaurant at the beach palace and any of the moon palace restaurants. They were all great! I have to say again the beach is my place...I spend all my time on it and in the ocean with the waves. As for the employees at sun palace (moon palace and playacar also) we have not had an unsmiling, unhelpful person during any stay at any time. The people are so nice and sincere. It does feel like coming home!More

All it says it is
We visited Sun Palace for the 2nd time last week. We really enjoyed all the facets offered by this resort. Water is beautiful from resort. The resort crew works super hard to make sure the beach is always beautiful for the guests. The service is above and beyond and we are now very attuned to the Palace Way. Every one we dealt with was very professional and always willing to do whatever for us. The spa is great and the services are all top notch. If you don't see what you want to eat or drink then just ask. Breakfast was always so fresh and beautiful fresh fruit. Our room was always cleaned so great and the concierge on our floor went above and beyond for us! If your looking for adults only with great service and great feel go here!More
What sets Sun Palace apart from others is the staff, they are an absolute credit to the hotel. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left they could not do enough for us and always with smiles on their faces. The standard of service received in this hotel is way beyond others we have visited. In the 2 weeks we stayed we got to know many of the staff well and the attention you receive is very personal and we would definitely look for this again when choosing other hotels and holidays. I would like to give special mentions to the entertainment team especially Antonio and Felipe who work tirelessly to look after everyone and were more like friends to us! I would also like to mention Fresia, Damian and Jesus at breakfast, Estrella in the Thai restaurant and Cruz at the Steak restaurant who all made our stay particularly memorable and went that extra mile! Aside from the staff, the view in this hotel will never grow old and I wish that we could have stayed longer to wake up to it every day! Would always recommend that you choose a sea view room! (tip: if you have booked through Thomson upgrade through them as we found it was more pricey to upgrade through the hotel direct). Rooms had everything we needed and more including hot-tub, toiletries, hairdryer, hairstraighters (there was no need to bring my own), TV, alarm clock with iPod dock, all-inclusive mini bar and liquor dispenser. Extremely clean and tidy every day. Beach / pool towels are available everyday from next to the pool bar. Wifi was the best we have used in any hotel and even good strength on the beach. After 2 weeks in one hotel I usually expect to be bored of the food, but not here! The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices, snack bar and buffet lunch options and then the 4 main restaurants in the evenings. Our favourites were the Italian and the Thai (we ate at the Thai at least 5 times - sushi chef and delicious deserts - we saw many people visiting the Thai just for the desert after dinner!). Small personal suggestion to the hotel would be more vegetarian options in the Mexican Restaurant as I would have liked to try this more in the evenings. Tips: don't bother getting a taxi to the main strip of clubs or shops etc. Buses come every 2-3 mins and cost 10.50 pesos or 1 dollar for a single - they will also pick you up from anywhere along the road - not just the bus stops if you stick your arm out! The R1 and R2 are the main buses. We even used these to get back at 2am from the bars and saved ourselves a fortune in cab fares. Bus service is excellent. After reading some negative reviews about the Resort Credits, I was plesantly surprised. Definitely consider using these for your excursions as even though you pay the 16% tax (16% of the listed credit) they are considerably cheaper than some of the excursions booked direct through the vendor - for example, jungle tour was way cheaper via resort credit. As long as you see the Resort Credit as a discount rather than a freebee it will make much more sense! Not once did they try to sell us timeshare or hassle us which I have read in other reviews. We also used the Credits for an 80 minute massage and would definitely recommend, very relaxing. You can also book tickets for the main clubs / bar nights from the PR team opposite reception and we found this much easier than booking on the street in the strip. Thank you again for the most perfect holiday. I have never felt so relaxed or looked after. We are already planning to return as soon as we can!More

Wowsers! Hooked! Going back!
Where do I begin? WHERE. DO I. BEGIN? Breathe in, breathe out. That's what it was...a breath of fresh tropical air, a la mexicana. Summary? Listen to me. Just book it! It's adults only and the service is outstanding. And upgrade to concierge level. It's worth it. We were able to negotiate it down a bit. Do it. Thank me later. I did days of research. I landed here. I do not regret my choice. From the moment we got there, it was amazing. Santos greeted us with cool scented towels and assisted us with our luggage with such pleasantry. Aranza handed us a cup of fresh lemonade as we checked in. The whole hotel is a contemporary look. Samuel checked us in and was incredibly kind throughout the whole process as we chatted with him about celebrating our honeymoon we never had (since we eloped four years prior) and we're celebrating my birthday for 05/12. We got our grey bands (we upgraded to concierge the day prior-had initially booked thru Travelocity and upgraded via phone with front desk) as we waited for our room. Aranza was so awesome to talk to in the meantime. She was not pushy at all when we said we were not financially stable enough to do a memberships. We expected to be on the fifth floor since they told us 529, but ultimately got room 630 around 3pm Tuesday 05/09. Not sure why we got that changed, but it was for the better because, let me tell you, I teared up at that breathtaking view! I included pics. There was a friggin jacuzzi in our room and a queen size lounge chair/bed in the huge balcony outside!! Inside the room, there were top shelf liquors in a dispenser and beer and Mexican sodas and water and a coffee maker. We were greeted with a bottle of champagne AND wine! The room looks quite contemporary. There are 2 main pools that give the illusion of you being on the beach like an infinity pool. Beach towels are provided. There was always an area to drink. The best place to get drinks was the lobby bar in the evening and Pedrito took great care of us! I can't remember her name, but there was an evening waitress at the lobby bar that was older, and she was sweet as can be!! Always with a smile. Restaurants: the Alamo-their buffet is pretty good. We were blown away with the chef Alfredo. He had such an infectious smile and even when he had five orders he was doing special made at the same time! That alone made me tip him more than I usually did. The next day, he remembered EXACTLY how I wanted my eggs (huevos rancheros) without even asking me. We highly recommend eating outside to enjoy the amazing view. We never got the chance to try the steak restaurant that is set up right outside the Alamo but two other couples we met said the meat was superb there. The snack bar by the pool was eh. Nothing special. We never tried the Thai restaurant, although I did try a Thai lo mein dish from the concierge special room service menu that was outstanding! Hubs tried the plantain veggie sushi and it was delicious! As for the Italian restaurant, Ana was our server and she got really personal with us and talked to us like a friend. Loved her!! She seems so thankful for her English training (we speak Spanish) that the hotel was giving her. I got a bacon wrapped shrimp that was to die for. Hubs' lasagna was good. It was a tad bit too cheesy for his taste though. Beach time: we got to sit in the VIP area at the beach and realized that getting there around 8am was the best way to get a good lounge chair. The beach is memorizing and they are constantly cleaning the seaweed and their part of the beach seems to be one of the cleanest and most beautiful of the hotel strip. Take sunscreen from your country cuz it's expensive there. Concierge perks: besides the awesome top shelf liquors and a special 5th floor concierge lady, you get a complementary 25 minute massage at their spa. Which was so friggin amazing, we booked again and paid out of pocket (we had already used up our credits). Monica and Lulu, thank youuuuuu!!! Muah~ now the included romantic dinner...no words. But if I had to choose any, I think choosing the 6:30 time was ideal because we got to experience the sunset. Carlos was our server and he got personal with us and was very kind and down to earth person. Made us feel like family! We now consider him a friend. Excursions: we stayed 4 nights which included $750 in resort credits. We chose the dolphin discovery which was better than any sea world experience hands down. We found out we couldn't snorkel since one of us was only a beginner swimmer. I only recommend that if you are experienced swimming. The hotel shuttle took us to playa langosta (btw go there to get a nice lagoon style experience) to catch the ferry and food was included to Isla mueres. We took another ferry to downtown isla mujeres and that's when we finally felt we were in Mexico. We rented a golf cart and toured the island and shopped souvenirs at a discount (haggling is easy). We also did the chef's dinner. Carlos from the night before recognized us immediately and referred to us by name and although he was not our server during that dinner, he still came around to make sure we were ok and to chat. The chef's dinner was an amazing experience. Only complaint was the main dish was chewy. We tried five wines an appetizer, entre, and dessert plus entertainment. Bravo to those dancers and singers! Nightlife: coco bongo was out of our budget but we still had amazing fun at the resort. We did karaoke night on Thursday which was so fun!!! And we got to sleep with the fresh ocean breeze on our patio. Room service: we only trusted the concierge special menu and the burgers (which we ate at 2am). All was good. Bumps along the road: a room service issue which I won't publicize being they corrected the issue and followed up several times and don't deserve to be blasted online. Our toilet stopped working too but they came almost immediately to fix it. I also ran into the manager Mr. Winkler and he was a sweet man as I spoke to him of our experience as a whole commending his staff. Tips: tipping is not required especially being it's not standard practice in Mexico, but I highly recommend it. I also highly recommend carrying Mexican pesos. DO NOT EXCHANGE AT THE AIRPORT BECAUSE YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF! Do it at the hotel or if you are using a private shuttle ride which I highly recommend doing, btw, ask the driver to take you to a "casa de cambios". Ask for 20s and 50s. Typical tipping we did was 20-40 pesos for the drinks and waiters got 40-100 pesos depending on service. Our experience was when we tipped, they would remember us the next time around and do a little something extra. We also recommend taking one one day to go to Isla Mujeres and rent a golf cart and explore the island, the locals, and the food (don't drink the water). And the beaches too. Mike told them it was my birthday and the evening we got back from an excursion, our room was decorated so beautifully, I nearly cried. And probably made a baby too lol! Knowing Spanish helps gets your needs met a little easier but they do a superb job speaking English too from what I could tell from them speaking to others. Thank you to the entire staff at Sun Palace for making our experience the most memorable vacation of our lives! God bless you all.More
2nd trip as good at the 1st
We've been to the Sun Palace twice in April 2016 and May 2017. Love it. Food is very good. Italian and Thai are our favorites. Staff are polite and customer service is excellent. Rooms are clean with balconies (not sure why anyone would pay almost double for Le Blanc with no balcony). Special mention to Alfredo at the breakfast buffet who took care of my wife's food allergy(celiac disease/gluten). He cooked her food on a separate grill. If you see guest services when you arrive they will print off a card in Spanish to notify staff of your allergy. Sun Palace isn't the newest or most luxurious adults only resort in Cancun but provides good value and quality with an upscale experience. We'll be back for a 3rd visit soon.More
