Just came back Saturday , June 17, 2017 . Went with my daughter , mother & daughter trip . We have done these trips 3 times now , just great ! First of all the resort is beautiful! If you love beach, this is the place to go, white sand and Aqua Blue water!! Huge beach area , palm trees line the beach area for shade. We are not pool people , so it seemed the pool area was nice too. Service was great , bar was good at pool area , and quite often the bar personal would come to the beach with huge trays of refreshments, variety of drinks and beer . This was great, because it,s hot and the drinks were a welcome sight ! Our room was spotless and maid service was perfect ! Food at this resort was Amazing ! We ate in Mexican resto, first night , but much preferred the Buffett , where there was such a variety, and everything was acceptional ! I really loved this RIU ! Stayed in a Riu Republica in the Dominican and it was terrible , got sick etc . but I was convinced by my travel agent to give it another try , glad I did ! But definatly go with the Palace it!s worth it !More

A week of fun and adventures
The hotel was excellent with a great staff from the front desk to pool and restaurant employees. We wish they would get a new transfer co (hotel beds), waited over an hour for shuttle from airport. We told to stay where we were and not move until our agent got us a transfer. We stood outside hot, tired and not receiving any info. Our flight landed at 2:30 and didn't get to Playa until after 5. The staff should alert clients that a certain restaurant will be closed. Planned on dinner 2 times both times private party.More
Love this resort!
This was my second visit to this Riu and I recommend this resort any time someone says they are heading to Playa Del Carmen. The pool and beach are great. The rooms are clean (which is very important) and there are a number of food options. It is also a very close walk to 5th ave for shopping, drinks, and restaurants. More
Honeymoon at the Riu Palace
My husband and I came here on our honeymoon from 30th May - 11th June. Overall, we had a really lovely time here and would possibly come back again. Pros: - Modern and very beautiful resort - Extremely clean - there was always some cleaning somewhere! - Beach area was stunning. - Room was nice, loved the bath and the bed was so comfy. - The staff make the resort. They are absolutely amazing and provide such great service. They are all so happy to help all the time. - Food was good, although we did both get ill. Lots of variety. - The Cocktails and Milkshakes - Lots to do nearby. The town is only 5 minutes away and there are lots of local excursions too. Cons: - Very noisy in the mornings and at night... we were woken up everyday from 8am due to the maids outside banging around or doors slamming shut. The hotel next door kept us awake late at night with very loud music. - We both got ill, me especially with upset stomachs. I was wiped out for 2 days. - We had lots of issues accessing our room with our key card. We had to go to reception nearly everyday which was very infuriating. - Not the best view considering we had emailed months in advance as we were on honeymoon. We were outside facing another hotel. - The Al A Cartes were not great so we stuck to the main buffet for dinner. - Too many children - for a palace, it would be better if it was adults only in our opinion.More

Amazing hotel with everything you need
We stayed here 30th may - 13th June. The hotel is fantastic and has all you need and more. The rooms are modern with a luxury feel and include a waterfall shower and jacuzzi bath. The food is great with so much attention to detail and choice Beach is the hotels highlight and truly is spectacular Pools aren't the best I've seen and are very small but we didn't use them as was at the beach every day Plenty of activities throughout the day should you want to get involved and drinks bought round to you continuously Staff all friendly and kind Evening entertainment was good. This is a riu palace hotel do not expect loud in your face shows it's about a chilled experience but you can go in any of the other rius as you are a palace guest and the entertainment is more lively Overall we absolutely loved the riu palace and would recommend More
