Just got back from this hotel, we had a lovely 2 weeks there. We stayed in a deluxe junior suite - really good large room, fab bathroom and shower! The bed was really comfortable too. Food was great, lots of people moaning but the buffet had lots of choices, normal things you would find at a large buffet and well cooked. We preferred to eat breakfast and lunch at the restaurants by the pool as they were smaller and quieter. We ate at the Mexican, steakhouse and Italian restaurants - the Italian was really nice, the steak was good but the Mexican was disappointing, better food at the buffet. We also ate at the chill out restaurant the first night, which I highly recommend. The food is good and the beach is so much better. The loungers are comfortable and the waiter service is great, really friendly staff. The main part of the beach is very crowded and noisy and I don't think I would have enjoyed my holiday as much if I had been in this part of the beach. The same goes for the pool - nice outside our room but around by the pool is was so loud and rowdy, although it was the American/Canadian spring break while we were there. The only drawback of this hotel is the sea, the sand on the beach is beautiful but the entrance to the sea is very rocky and there is lots and lots of seaweed. This is not the hotels fault at all and there's nothing they can do about it, but as it's my third time in Mexico I was disappointed as I have always had wonderful beaches/sea/sand. This is the only reason I wouldn't come back to this hotel. The grounds are beautiful and clean and the staff are mostly friendly. Our waitress in the chill out was so lovely and really looked after us, the staff in the breakfast buffet by the pool were really miserable though. Overall I loved the hotel, rooms, grounds and chill out section of the beach. But having to use water shoes is the Caribbean sea was disappointing.More

Ive spent 3 trips at this place which made me fall in love with Playa Del Carmen and cause me to buy a place right behind it! I cant speak highly enough on this property, The high level of service, The quality of the rooms, food, resort and staff all the way down to the quality and cleanliness of the beach. There are many resorts in Playa Del Carmen but I can promise you won't regret staying at this one. Every time I've come back the staff has remembered me and treated me like a family member, from the Assistant GM Sarman, to Miguel who oversees the team when Sarman isn't around, to the great Platinum concierge staff like David all the way to even the staff at the Buffett. I would recommend Upgrading to the Platinum package as the quality of food and service is well worth it. Make sure you spend time hanging at the CHILL OUT which is one side of the beach club the princess has on its property and its beautiful. Happy to answer any direct questions about this property, I've stayed at many places in Playa Del Carmen and this is one of my favorite. You won't go wrong staying here. EnjoyMore
Slipped Into Relax Mode Right Away
We went for a week vacation. This hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our suite had a great view and large balcony and the lush greenery surrounding us on a walk every night was so relaxing with all the beautiful paths and statues. There was a lot of food choices at the buffet, but would have liked to have been able to eat in the individual restaurants more frequently for dinner. They were always booked up and when we would get a booking the restaurants were empty due to seating being left for the premium customers. Two staff people stood out to us on our over the top friendly service and hard work. They were Mateo Tun Che from the buffet restaurant and Wilbur from the lounge. We would stay here again and recommend to to others for sure.More
Platinum Lounge Grand Riviera Princess
The Platinum Lounge at the Grand Riviera Princess was an excellent place to gather before dinner or later in the evening for games with family and friends. Special thank you to Yara! We were there for our daughter's wedding and she treated all our family and friends very well. Yara was just excellent, one of your best employees! She always remembered us when we entered the lounge and was very attentive to our needs. She took the time to get to know us and our family and made everyone feel welcome. Again, thank you Yara, well done!!!More
3rd time is enough
This was our 3rd time at the resort. We really do love this place but we have had enough! It's a value resort that offers a lot for not expensive. The result .... too many hard partying, all-day drinking, all night screaming patrons. Everywhere we went, it was like Spring break 24/7. From 11-6 the music is THUMP, THUMP, THUMP from the main pool which dominates the environment. Try and relax, try and take a nap, try and read a book ..... good luck. It's Ibiza and a nightclub rolled into a resort. So many drunk patrons at 6:00 - embarrassing and a realistic life lesson for our teenagers on how NOT to behave. Fights, yelling, people falling down drunk .... awful. The food was excellent and the rooms spacious and the staff friendly and helpful. But - be aware, it's a party place. It's our last visit. It's was not like this in the past and I feel that it's been downgraded into a low budget, get as wasted as a possible resort.More
