Amazing all inclusive resirt
This resort does not lack in hospitality. They are very accommodating and friendly. If you splurge a little and get the diamond club you might be blessed with a butler named Gustavo that will guarantee a stress free vacation. They have 17 bars and a ton of different restaurants that specialize in different cuisine. I will definitely return to thi resort again.More
Overall great, with a few exceptions
I want to start by saying that overall this place was amazing, and as my first experience at an all-inclusive in over 15 years, I will definitely do it again. Highlights were: great food, good butler service (Ruben was so attentive and went above and beyond in every way, as we were celebrating an anniversary), very clean, variety of exceptional food and drink options, and good service at the pools, beach, and restaurants. Lowlights: miscommunication at checkout that delayed our departure a little bit. As we were boarding the transfer, a hotel worker asked if we had a checkout slip! I had no idea what he was talking about since I had just settled my bill and received nothing. It was resolved quickly. The second thing was a rude staff member at Armadillo the evening we tried to eat without reservations. The hostess said there were no tables then offered to find us one if we bought a bottle of wine! It was insulting to think we had paid as much as we did for the vacation only to be told we couldn't eat without buying a bottle of wine. She eventually gave us a pager which we took and went to wait. We decided to eat at Agave (which was amazing) and the pager NEVER went off all night. The third low was the day a lady threw up in one of the Hideaway pools and the other was undergoing refurbishments. We decided to go to the Diamond Club pool with the other couple we were on vacation with but they were Hideaway only. Without even listening to what was going on in Hideaway, staff-memeber Kevin was extremely rude to us asking us to leave the Diamond Club pool area. We were Diamond Club but the other couple was not. We asked repeatedly to speak to a manager, and Kevin was very rude and made a scene (so much so that two guests asked us about it the next day when they saw us at the pool), but finally two women came over and apologized for Kevin and told us we were more than welcome at the Diamond Club pool since the Hideaway pools were closed for reasons beyond our control. We ended up having a pleasant time. Lastly, many of the machines at the gym were to of order, so although we could work out, we were not able to do a lot of cardio because the treadmills and bikes weren't working. It is a very nice gym with a good variety of equipment, but it would be better if everything was working. I would like to end on a high note. The hydro therapy that accompanies the massage services was AMAZING. Well worth it, and the massage was also great on the beach. More
Looking for adults only - beware
Let me start by saying this was my 15th trip to the area. We've stayed at most of the AO resorts between puerto Morelos and playa del Carmen. This hotel markets itself as adults only, but it isn't. When you walk over to the family side it's like walking through the gates of hell. I've never seen anything like it in Mexico. Huge crowds, people behaving badly with kids running around with no supervision. Impossible to get a decent drink at the Martini bar. We avoided it as much as possible. Unfortunately, most of the restaurants and bars and shops are over there. The Hideaway side is ok and Dorado restaurant is nice for breakfast. We were Diamond Club and had a great butler Michelle. We paid to upgrade to a 4th floor roof top jacuzzi room when we arrived because we were given a 1st floor mangrove room with an awful view. We didn't care much for the Hideaway pool where many of the lounges are situated at a weird angle. It was fun to have a drink there in the pool at the end of the day. One day they had a great DJ and everyone in the pool was having fun but they ended it after 30 minutes. We loved the beach, that was the best part of the resort. Best swimming beach we've experienced in this area. The sand is gorgeous, there are no rocks and the little bit of seaweed didn't bother us at all. People who hate this beach have clearly never traveled to any other resort in the Mayan riviera where there are rocks. I'd like to again recognize our butler Michelle and also the following stand out employees- Erica in the diamond club lounge, beach butlers Joel and Emilio and Abraham a waiter in Armadillos. Other pros- good wifi throughout resort. Most waiters and bartenders provided good service. We tipped a lot and they earned every dollar. Diamond club was totally worth it to us. Other cons- had a really hard time getting towels in the room we had to ask for more every day. They desperately need adults only activities during the day and night, otherwise people just drink too much. Did not have one good dinner while we were there. Hunter served us raw chicken and vegetables (creme brûlée was delicious though!), teppanyaki was the worst I've had at any resort. Normally you can choose protein but here they give you small portions of each, most that we didn't eat. Ocean pointe was ok but slow service. dorado was probably the best dinner but the waiter Uber was rude when we declined to purchase a bottle of wine. Many better options in the area, won't be back unless they make changes. More
Beach full of Seaweed, No motorised Watersports, weak drinks unless you tipped waiters, had my wedding band stolen from my room by room service when they dropped off a bottle of wine, the "investigation" was completed, and no one admitted to stealing the ring, ofcourse they are not going to admit it.More
Can I Stay!!!!
This trip was a gift from someone. Didn't expect much but basic travel and accommodation;however, this place was awesome. From the staff greeting the moment we step on the property. I love the security and the procedure to enter the property made me feel secure. The property was gorgeous our room didn't have a great view but it didn't matter cause the inside was beautiful. From the huge bed that was so comfortable, the overhead two headed shower that I didn't want to leave out of, to the lighting in the room which made for a great couples night. The food and different options was nice and convenient. If the food temperature was a little hotter would have been perfect. The only not so good thing, I wish it had more entertainment. They had good shows which we tried to take advantage of all of the, but only one adult night club for the whole property. So after the last property event at 10pm. Thing could fall flat from there if the one club is not for you. But over all awesome experience I really really didn't want to leave and come but the reality or life. More
