Nice family holiday
Lovely rooms and hotel, plenty of pools, food was hit and miss, entertainment was okay, if the entertainment were the only ones on stage instead of back to the audience and the kids on stage with them, as we saw a few children fall off the stage Aldi supermarket up the road and buses to local town which is lovely. We had a good time as it's who your with and other people you meet that make your holiday More
On the whole better than average
We visited the Globales Playa Estepona hotel in October 2016 (the closing week of the hotel), I visited the hotel with my wife and 8 year old daughter. My wife had read reviews which made me a bit worried around what I had read (First choice description) and if I had booked the right hotel. The hotel staff are good they work hard and keep the hotel clean and spotless, rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The entertainment was ok, my daughter enjoyed it, but it was a bit repetitive, bingo isn't really my thing. They do have different acts that come into the hotel and the entertainment team are friendly and try to get everyone involved. They also put on day time activities, shooting, water polo, darts etc. There are lots of pools lots of water slides and pools to keep kids busy, I was disappointed that adults are unable to go in the kids area. At times my daughter would be on the equipment on her own and I wanted to go on it to play with her to stop her getting bored, the staff would blow whistles and tell you to get off. I've been able to join in with her on similar equipment in other hotels. The food and restaurant size let this hotel down, Its not big enough to cope with the volume of guests. Our first morning going down to breakfast was absolute chaos, we had to clear a table ourselves and went on the hunt for cutlery and glasses. As more guests left the hotel this improved. I would not to like to experience this in peak weeks. The food was repetitive and cold. They do a BBQ every day at 6pm which probably the best place to eat from. The hotel do have themed nights at the beach bar - This has to be pre-booked, but if i'm totally honest the food was even worse than the main buffet restaurant, lots of flies and the food was cold. This is sold as Beach side hotel, the reality is that is pebbly so don't expect being able to paddle and it looks nothing like the photo's put up the tour operators. I did manage to get in the sea, but it was difficult. The hotel offer a free shuttle to Puerto Banus, which is worth a visit. This is a good hotel with a few tweaks it could be a great hotel, tour operators need to be honest about the beach, yes it is a beach, is it usable... definitely not!More
stayed for last 10 days of season. rooms ok. was in menorca block. one room facing pool and waterpark one room facing club and bar (no sun on this one). hotel lovely and clean. food not too good. fantastic Indian restaurant up the road though. lots of flies around beach bar food especially when not covered. OK stay good for younger kidsMore
To be honest after reading some of the reviews I was absolutely dreading it, but I need not of worried. Check in was simple, we were in the Cabrera block, room spotless, shower only, tv, couple of English channels and a fridge. The food was fine, I always found something I liked and I am fussy to be honest. The outdoor BBQ was fab, and there was generally a chef carving one type of meat or another most nights. Choice of drinks that you could help yourself to, white, red and rose wine, beer (san Miguel with a 0% which was a good option and also soft drinks. Huge complex, I agree the food was pretty rubbish down by the beach. I don't see the reason to complain that there was nothing by the hotel, we found several restaurants and bars within a ten minute walk. I wouldn't go back because I like to try new places that is the only reasonMore
Bigger and better
Last year I wrote a long report saying how much we enjoyed this hotel. We returned with our son and his partner and our two grandchildren. We would have liked to have been in the Majorca block again as it was so good the first time, but it was full. We were then told that we were to be staying in the new Cabrera block. This was even better for us. Behind it is the new children's play area with a shallow pool and other water play things including a bucket that tips and makes sure they're well wet. there are swings and a slide in the sand pit area and even an indoor part if the weather is poor. The room is of the usual design you would expect. Shower room, twin beds, balcony and a flat screen t.v. on the wall. The balcony overlooks the new circular pool which is lit up after dark and has it's own bar while the pool is open. It is over a metre deep but constantly watched over by a first aid trained lifeguard. My 4yr old learned to swim while we were there. Our 7yr old was just tall enough to use the big slides (1.4mtr.) in the main water park area. The food was plentiful and varied even though we were in the last week of the season and the quality was excellent. The entertainment was very good in the evening. The children loved it. The beach bar is now well up and running with themed meals every night. (book early at reception). Most eating areas have beer, wine, soft drinks, tea, coffee etc. on a help yourself system. There is now a free shuttle bus service into Estapona and Puerto Bernus. (book at reception) Remember that the hotel is at Istabe. We used the local busses at the top of the road. You need the Ricardo bus. If I have a complaint it is that there is not a clock in reception. Mobile phones are useless here and the clocks went back an hour. We weren't the only ones to be confused. All in all an excellent holiday and good value for money.More
