Sandwiched between the beach and the atmospheric old quarter, Hotel Balcon de Europa boasts one of the best locations in Nerja.
Named after Nerja’s famous Balcon de Europa viewpoint, which sits just to the left of the hotel, this property has one of the best locations in town.
The hotel is built onto the cliff face, and has a bit of a topsy-turvy layout. The reception and pool are up on the fifth floor, at street level, while the beach and main restaurant are down on the bottom level.

We probably expected too much from this hotel, considering the great reviews. We booked a standard room by mistake and when we tried to correct it we were told we couldn't as there weren't any sea view room available. The standard room was terrible it was long and thin, like a corridor with very little natural light. We complained and to be honest got the impression that it was expected. We were offered another room which did have a window but was smaller and again looked onto a wall. The facilities were very good and as all the rest of the reviews say, location superb. Pool very small all the same. We were told when we arrived that you couldn't book a sun bed and if you left one unattended for more than an hour with a towel etc on, it would be removed, great we thought that will suit us as it's very frustrating people who hog the best beds and leave them for hours whilst they go out doing other things. The idea is great the only problem was it didn't happen. We seen beds on the beach with towels sitting unattended for hours and never ever seen anything being removed. So only a good idea if it's administered properly. We didn't eat at the hotel except breakfast which was at best average. We do usually stay in good hotels and this was a bit pricey for what it is. If we did go again we would definitely have a Jess view room or not at all.More
This is just like coming back to see old friends here! We are welcomed like part of the family on this nearly our tenth year!! It's location cannot be surpassed, stunning views and scenery all around. The Rooms are always spotlessly clean and the maid service is excellent!! Ana was ours up on the 9th floor and remembered us again. Reception fab yet again, hugs and kisses around and the same in the restaurant. I cannot say how much we love this hotel, staff and all it stands for, that's why we keep coming back. Oh and the buffet breakfast is fantastic, there is something for everyone!!!! So we'll see you very soon!!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟More
We recently stayed at the Balcon, the location is fabulous being in the centre of Nerja. There are a couple of negatives for instance the pool and the sunbathing area is very small and you have to be down at 9am to get a sunbeds as ther are only about 30. We did upgrade to a junior suite which i have to say was disappointing the balcony was extremly small, although we had a good view of the beach it was tucked into a corner and being on the 1st floor a bit claustrophobic, with hindsight we should have moved rooms, however we did have a lovely holiday and the hotel is lovely and clean and the staff couldnt be more helpful or friendly....we will definatly be staying again.More
Would be excellent except noisy weddings
We stayed last year and enjoyed the hotel and Nerja so much we booked again for the same week this year . I echo all the positive comments and both the hotel and area are hard to beat. As the hotel is on the Balcon , noise is inevitable but it is actually entertaining to watch from the balcony and this has not disturbed us during our stays and we have been able to sleep with the French doors open. However there were a number of weddings over the weekend (2,3,4 June) when the noise was excessive and went on until early morning, the earliest finish was around 3 am and latest 5 am. Therefore we had little sleep for 3 nights and the noise could be heard despite the French doors being closed and air conditioning being switched on. It seemed the reception having ended but the noise was due to guests leaving , shouting farewells loudly and going in and out of the hotel, shouting along the corridors ,with no consideration to those staying. I stood on the balcony during these times, hoping that this might cause the bride (4 June) to notice the impact of this behaviour. On this occasion glass was smashed outside the hotel. The police were present on 3 June moving people on in the early hours. This was raised directly with the management of the hotel .The management's view was they were not responsible for behaviour on the Balcon , and initially denied these experiences and that the weddings ended before midnight . I consider that as the attendees were entering the hotel , this ought to be addressed by them. This will not stop me returning to the hotel, although it would be a shame for these weddings to downgrade a super hotel.More

Perfect for Weddings. Secluded beach. Great food. Friendly and helpfull staff. Very clean.
My daughter was married in Nerja and had her reception here. It was perfect! Photos on the beach as the sun goes down just completed the excellent service from the hotel and its staff. The hotel itself was also perfect in every way for us. Great food, cleanliness, staff and location. Views were superb over the sea and the beach. The air conditioned rooms were cleaned every day and the TV had more than the usual number of British channels should you want them.More
