Holidays to Es Cana break away from Ibiza’s foam parties to offer relaxed nightlife, quiet beaches and the most famous hippie market on the island.
The resort of Es Cana on Ibiza’s east coast sits pretty with its dinky harbour and whitewashed houses. The vibe here is laid-back and leisurely, but the town springs to life every Wednesday when the hippie market comes to town.
Es Cana’s crescent-shaped beach is one of the longest on the island. It’s a family-friendly spot with gently-sloping sands backed by pine trees. If you’re in the mood for action, there’s a whole deluge of watersports to launch yourself into, including water-skiing, banana boating, snorkelling and parasailing.
There are hippie markets all over Ibiza, but the one that takes over Es Cana every Wednesday is the oldest and the best. More sightseeing than shopping, it’s worth visiting for the street performers, stalls stacked with ethnic clothes and trinkets, and Glastonbury Green Fields vibe.
Ten minutes to Santa Eulalia
Ten minutes by car and you’re in Santa Eulalia, the island’s third largest resort, with its art galleries, boutiques and Brighton-esque seafront. The marina is a prime spot for yacht-watching. Champagne and sunset optional.
