We didn't expect it to be as bad.
When we arrived it was incredibly hot and we had lovely moods. We came to the reception, a young guy told us our room is not ready and we'll have to wait. But hey, he was so polite, he said we can sit down, chill and have a drink, leave our stuff in the luggage room and the will catch us once the room will be ready. It ended up on 40 minutes of waiting, but we went out and it was fine. Our room was very clean with all basic kitchen appliances, tv and... 3 single beds. For me it's unbelievable to have absolutely none, ZERO double beds in the hotel full of couples and families. We were so upset, even after fixing them into one, bigger bed, both matresses were sliding off all the time and it was bloody uncomfortable. First night was incredibly hot. We were roasting, but had no idea we have to pay for the air con – another ridicolous thing. Hey, we have 20th century!! NO NEED TO PAY FOR THE AIRCON ANYMORE because in the country as hot as Majorca it's a must-have! What's going on?! It's just utterly ridicolous. It was around 2am, we couldn't sleep at all, so I went to the receptionist to ask about the aircon. He said I have to pay 40 euros, but I was in my pj's and I didn't take any money so I asked if I can pay in the morning... He seemed to be very disgusted and he nearly shouted that „I have to pay in the morning or we will cut it!”, I said ok ok, I can call my Fiance who was in the room, but he didn't get that and said it's fine BUT I HAVE TO PAY IN THE MORNING OR THEY WILL CUT IT. He repeated it about 5 times, so I took my remote, went back to the room and I was feeling like a thief or something. Aircon appeared to be broken... Cooling wasn't working at all so we had just a working fan inside but it didn't help with the heat inside the room. I was fed up and super tired, so my fiance went to the receptionist again to ask and that guy of course said we have to pay for that in the morning or they will cut it (sixth time?!). My other half asked what we should do because it doesn't work and he said he doesn't know because he's just a recepcionist and we have to come back in the morning. Darn. We didn't have even an hour of sleep that night. I thought I'm gonna kill him. At the morning on the reception there was a lady with short, ginger hair who helped us immediately and told engineers to take a look. We went out and after a couple of hours everything was absolutely fine. Another thing – if you want to have a proper sleep at night, don't book a room in Mariners Club. We had the same situation over and over, every night. There was loads of kids running, screaming and jumping until 3am in the morning. And well, staff from hotel may say that it's not their business and it's a parents' problem but to be honest... yes, it's your problem, guys. If most of people in the hotel can't sleep at night it means you have to do something with that. I'm not even gonna mention drunk people hitting and banging on some random windows of random people at night. As an owner you have a right and it's your obligation to tell them to shut up. Apart from that – the entertainment on the several evenings was absolutely poor. It was literally nothing, just a small children party and that's it. At the end we had a hypnotizer show, I can remember a parrot show and one night with a good, live music. A couple of nights were very good, but was it. About the children party – I know the entertainer was doing well, I know. But there was around six songs and we could hear them every night. They werre playing exactly the same six songs for children every night. After seven days I was fed up with Choo choo choo, Chocolate and Macarena. I swear to God. A swimming pool was clean and big enough for everybody, we enjoyed having a wee splash every day. A food was good (paella was yummy) while most drinks and cocktails were just awful, served in ikea glasses. A staff from the kitchen was very nice apart from one rude woman. One of the biggest pros was... a maid. Yes, Maid. Malen is such a lovely, kind hearted lady, she's always smiling. Such an amazing soul. To sum up – I can see loads of friendly, hard-working staff against of old building and somebody on the top who wants to make a money on everything with absolutely no effort. It could be a very good place, believe me. Mariners Club needs a lot of improvement in both appliances, rooms, beds and some rules like that stupid aircon, loud nights, entertainment etc. We have a lovely holidays but unfortunately I won't be coming back to this hotel.More
Entertainer ! Haha
Ok so I've just returned from my second holiday here. Everything is excellent and would have five stars if the entertainer had done her job. 😡. So angry. She has no personality. No get up and go. Doesn't interact with children or adults. Has an itinerary but does none of it cos "I can't get the kids out the pool". The teenagers don't get together cos she doesn't do ANYTHING for them. Little kids jump in the pool every day and race on a lilo. Wow. How imaginative. Then a silly disco to the same darn music EVERT night. I couldn't stand it. Everyone was Moaning about her.. the boring bingo and "quiz". 🙈. How long did they take 😩😩. Seriously speed it up Sarah. Bring back Amanda. Pay her double. Or how about take on Regina. She would be fabulous at it. She's a natural with kids and adults. I would return if you did but unfortunately not while Sarah is there. She actually put such a dark cloud over our holiday Moan over !More
2 visit to mariners
Returned from our 2nd visit at the mariners, thought I'd leave another review 😃 we as a family love this hotel as it's small enough we can always have view of our kids in the pool or at the park. Our maid Malen was an absolute gem! Always smiling and singing away, and great with the kids. Entertainment has changed since last time we were there its now Sarah, beds are chained up at night and unlocked around 8.30/9am, hairdryers are now provided in rooms. 7 of us traveling this time including 4 kids ages 4, 6, 7 & 9. Were already looking forward to coming back next year! 😃 found a great wee chop shop also down at the port! 👌 definitely worth a visit! More
so bad its comical
I stayed here in July of this year and quite honestly Thomson need to have a word with themselves about this squat. I have stayed in some very unsavoury accommodation in my time mostly from foreign stagg doo's with tight budgets but nothing compares to this "family hotel" Firstly its quite a walk to the beach which is lovely by the way. The distance doesn't really bother me as I enjoy a walk but not through waste land, stagnant canals littered with seasons of rubbish and very tired infrastructure. It really is at the back end of Alcudia and it hits you the second you arrive but your eyes are soon lead to metal bars over the window?? No wander people relate it to "the one that looks like a prison". Its true about the spectacle of the 9:00 surge for everyone to grab their sunbed and it really is a sight to behold. However I soon learned the psychology of these white plastic loving individuals after spending 24 hrs staying at Mariners club. Twice a week a clever thinking antrepreneur brings his dozen 12v electric cars there and hires them to the residents kids to drive up and down the grounds in. Good idea you might think and something to keep the kids occupied. I have a 2 and 5 year old and I more than anyone know the value of this. However come 10-11 ish most children sub 10 years old are ready for bed which can be very tricky considering you have an electric Lamborghini wining 2 meters from your door along with 11 others. Add this to fact that the Bruce Springstene tribute act doesn't start to 11 which although good and I could here every word from my sponge plank to back it up means its difficult to sleep. Which leads me to my sunbed point, everyone is so tired that 9:00 sunbed grabbing time is exhausting so they go back to their cells to catch up on their sleep. We asked to be moved to another hotel at first which was going to cost another 600 Euros. by the time we had agreed what to do the rep didn't work Friday. I understand we need time off but couldn't another rep cover the days work?? Thomson CC line was terrible and when I contacted them over twitter I got the usuall suspects back " sorry your having a difficult time" and " have you contacted your rep". Once the wknd arrived and we spoke with the rep again it was mentioned that "we cant move you on wknds". Honestly so many hurdles were put in our way it became pointless in the end so we enjoyed ourselves on the beach which I say again is stunning and other hotels facilities. There is a descent hotel over the other side of the dog poo common opp the front doors who allow non residents to use their facilities should you choose to ignore this review. Very good food and service with well kept grounds. There is a lot more to add the state of the rooms to the holes and stains in the linen even the toilet doors in reception have previous inmates names carved into them. Its so dated that although one of the cheapest in Alcudia the basics should not be ignored. Poor show Thomson this is the third time I have traveled with yourselves to Majorca and I promise there will not be a fourth in any other island or country for that matterMore
Great safe family holiday
Having read a lot of reviews on here I do wonder what people are expecting. We have just returned today after two weeks at the Mariners. Eight of us ages ranging from 9 to 83! This place is just perfect for a great family holiday, for all ages, it's not the Ritz but it's relaxing, friendly, safe and in an ideal spot for everything. The staff are a credit and work very hard to keep people happy. Don't listen to negatives they are far outweighed by the positives, if you want 5 star book 5 star, if you want a great family holiday book the Mariners! We will return without a doubt.More
