A beachside spot, a sleek pool scene, and a restaurant with lots of options make the Astoria Playa a great choice for couples.
Astoria Playa is just across the road from an eight-kilometre stretch of white sand. Then, there’s the good selection of restaurants within a five-minute walk. The waterside bars at Alcudia Marina, meanwhile, are a 10-minute taxi ride away.
The hotel’s inside spaces have a contemporary look, with chunky red furniture to offset the whitewashed walls. Monochrome colours, flat-screen TVs and spotlights carry on the designer feel in the bedrooms.

Four big stars
Just got back from a one week Babymoon at Astoria Playa and missing it already! Thanks especially to Elsa for a lovely checkin experience, Sanaa for lots of tips and being a ray of sunshine, and most of all Israel Garcia the best wait service ever! I never give shout-outs to staff in my reviews but the staff here were the best I've ever experienced in a hotel resort. All staff work what seems to be endless days and are always friendly. The grounds are great and my only sadness was it couldn't be on the beach which would have been perfection, but they do the best with what they have. There is a mini golfcourse on the property which is 5eur unless you are in the junior suite, sadly we were not and it was in the sun most of the day so rarely used from what we saw. Our room was on the top floor as we had requested and facing the "wading" pool for older guests as well as the entertainment at night which was fun to watch from the huge balcony. Only view was a sliver of the ocean in the distance but still nice. The balcony is great (all rooms have this size or bigger if in the suite) but 2/3 of it is empty space, we felt like there would be plenty of room for a small couch or loungers out there. The bedroom itself is small and agree with other reviews about: 1) no storage space 2) couch under TV which just becomes random suitcase space and 3) funky smells especially at night. Apparently this has happened before and it's more of a local sewage issue just a shame because one of our nights it was so intense it literally woke us from our sleep, but it does come and go. The bathroom is great and shower is amazing. Beds are huge and comfy as are pillow options. At the main pool there is a snack bar with really great lunch options and reasonably priced - we didn't take advantage more because we are beach people so spent our days out exploring different coves and beaches in the area. One day I also enjoyed a prenatal massage poolside (highly recommend and very well priced!!) and enjoyed lunch and drinks at the main pool. We also spent an hour or so there at the end of each beach day to unwind before dinner and relax on the sunbeds (which are never all taken and all very comfy!!). I think for those spending entire days poolside and using the service (no outside food or drink allowed) it can get pricey since water is 3eur each bottle, same as with dinner despite there being free tap water during breakfast (!). Also there is usually only one bartender and one server staffed at the pool and they can get overwhelmed when full. We rented a car to enable more beach time/exploring and there is plenty of free street parking with no issues to speak of. I also appreciated the recycled book library very much as I had forgotten to bring one! There are mostly booked in English and German but we noticed a few other languagues too. Again thanks for the sharing system! Food it cannot be repeated enough, value for money is huge here as we never had such a gourmet feeling with a halfpension hotel. Loved our server Garcia and each meal! Wine selection is also fabulous. Overall four stars due to a few gripes mentioned but it shouldn't stop you from booking here, we don't regret our choice at all!More
The perfect mix of high class and friendly
I cannot recommend this hotel too highly. Friendly and helpful staff who could not do enough for you. Modern, stylish décor and colour schemes. Buffet food and bar service of the highest standard catering well to every taste. Pleasant evening entertainment. 5-10 minutes to the beach or the bus stop to go into Palma or express coach to the airport. Kettle and fridge in the room was particularly appreciated. Nearbye cafes, restaurants, fast food and Lidl cater to every taste.More
Fantastic three nights spent which beat all our expectations. Upon arrival greeted with expectionally friendly receptionists and given free glass of bubbly. We stayed in a Junior Suite which was amazing and the best we both have ever stayed in. The balcony with the huge four poster kingsize sunbed was perfect for evening drinks and romantic chats to round off the day. The food and service was five star with every detail covered, for example while we were there it was my boyfriend's birthday and the staff surprised him with a dessert and free bottle of champagne. The overall service was to perfection.More
Great break and never a cloud in the sky
We spent a week at the hotel, staying in a junior suite. It is really just a bigger room, with an in-room jacuzzi and a large balcony. Our room faced the rear pool and stage and was always clean and had great views out to sea and the mountains. The area has lots of places to visit, as for the nightlife it is the usual array of bars, and we had a couple of good nights meeting people and singing karaoke! Each evening there is entertainment in the hotel of a decent standard, usually tribute bands but easy on the ear sitting on the balcony with a beer. The hotel is adults only and has two pools. There was very litttle of the dreadful bed reservation with towels and the absence of the under 18s made for a different experience. Having "done all that" I did not miss the noise or child activity around the pool. Instead it was some beers, the odd dip in the water and a chance to relax. We took the half board option and I do not propose to repeat the comments of other reviewers. I will only say that at both breakfast and dinner the food options were extensive and well prepared. Some was already out to choose, whilst others were prepared to order and the problem was deciding what to have each time. What could have been a big buffet for a lot of people was actually good quality and each meal time was different with new options. The 3 hour time windows also helped to spread people out with breakfast open until 10.30 and dinner until 9.30. My main praise though is for the staff. From the first greeeting until the last the staff were first class, providing a personal service, always helpful and with a smile. The staff in the dining area were numerous, and always attentive and friendly. This is a reasonable sized hotel and the owners and have staff have created a happy place to stay, helped by wonderful weather. All in all a top place for a summer break. Steve and LauraMore

I am writing this review whilst still staying at Astoria for another 4 nights. On arrival to the hotel we were greeted by a friendly receptionist and doorman, we were provided with a nice glass of vino each whilst we checked in and our bags were taken to the room whilst we waited. I advised the receptionist that we were away for my 30th birthday which is at the end of the month and she kindly upgraded us to a junior suite on the first floor. The room is fantastic, a huge bed, normally when you go away, it's two single beds pushed together but this bed is so big and comfy. We have a jacuzzi in the middle of the room and a huge balcony with a double Balinese bed overlooking the gardens of the hotel. My only gripe about the room is the inadequate storage space and the size of the toilet, it's not even a metre square so very uncomfortable when trying to use. For the first 2 days, there was an extremely unpleasant smell in our room, I called reception abut this twice but unfortunately, nothing was done to remediate the issue so my partner, being a handy man, played around with the shower trap and the smell was gone after this. I was told by a lady on reception the smell was coming from the street. The pool area is gorgeous, all the beds are cushioned double loungers which are very comfortable. You can get towels from the hotel for a €10 deposit and these can be changed daily. The food is truly the best we have ever had at a hotel, major diet needed!! There has been 2 nights so far that weren't to our liking but this is down to personal choice, the quality cannot be faulted! All the staff are very friendly and provide a great waiting service during the day and night so no queuing for anything! There are shows on every night at the hotel which are great because there is not alot of pubs or nightly entertainment around. The Port is about a half an hour walk along the beach from the hotel but costs €5 in a taxi! Old town is also €5 in a taxi. The resort is mainly catered for families with not a whole lot to do for couples and probably wouldn't return to Alcudia for this reason however if we did, it would be to the Astoria. Thank you Astoria for what is so far a wonderful stay. Room 130 :)More
