very enjoyable relaxing break
The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard .The pool area is really nice and the view out to sea is beautiful , but could do with more umbrellas. The standard rooms are on the small side but adequate with a small fridge ,widescreen tv and tea and coffee making facilities .storage was sufficient but the wardrobe area wasn't very big .The food was a very high standard and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.A lot of the guests were of the older age group but as we were leaving some younger couples arrived .There was a lovely walk to Cala Bona harbour and also Cala Millor which had a great beach and also quite a big shopping area .At lunchtime we ate mostly in the small bars in Cala Bona such as the Stanley's tearooms,Waterfront bar ,Sonnys ,Cat's Whiskers and Smithy's .The food was really nice and reasonably priced .There were lots of other places serving a variety of food .We were on holiday for a week but would have liked a few days extra. The weather was fantastic around 30 degrees or more .I would certainly recommend this area of Majorca and particularly this hotel . Will no doubt return one day .More
Another lovely holiday at the Bonamar!
Just back from another lovely 10 day holiday at the Bonamar, our 5th visit there. The refurb is lovely, much more up to date, yes you can see into the bathroom from your bedroom, but the opaque glass does offer privacy, so no issues for me and hubby. The new rooftop pool area is great and perfect for sunworshippers. The hotel now also has an Indian restaurant for the guests, much to my hubby's delight....the food was so good we went twice! The Bonamar staff are as friendly and helpful as always and the place is spotless! There were a few snags as mentioned in other reviews, the refurb was only completed in April..... but I can see these issues being resolved by the great management team at the Bonamar. Already booked to return next year!More
Good location, where you can do as much or as little as you want
The Hotel has been recently refurbished and whilst there are some minor ongoing works, the hotel is well positioned for easy walking access to Cala Millor and into Cala Bona. It's a flat resort, which is good for the elderly or those with mobility problems. Sa Coma is approximately 3 miles away via Castelll D'Amer which has a very good vantage point of the 3 resorts i.e. Cala Bona, Cala Millor and Sa Coma. The staff at Protur Bonamar are all very helpful and willing to help. The hotel enjoys a large number of returnees., some of whom visit twice a year, I don't think you'll be dissapointed.More
On the whole we enjoyed our holiday. Reception, restaurant and bar staff were really great and very friendly. Wendy on Reception, Carmen and Tomas in the restaurant and Manou the bar manager deserve a special mention. The food was very good, plenty of choice and high quality both for breakfast and dinner. Show cooking at both meal times. The glasses at dinner were dirty, lipstick on the rims and greasy. Once we complained they made sure we had clean ones. On our last day we noticed two huge cockroaches in the restaurant and told a member of staff. Another guest said it was a big problem and management had been told about it. The room was small, no sofa or chairs and the balcony chairs wouldn't fit through the balcony door on a wet day. Very little wardrobe space and the toilet and separate shower cubicle had clear glass in the bottom 2 foot and top 3 foot, only the centre bit was opaque. Strange to see the shower head from the bed. The hotel's literature said the bedding would be changed on every fifth day. It wasn't and twice we had to request reception for this to be done. Lovely pool area but people were queuing from 8 am when the terrace doors were unlocked to reserve their sunbeds. Dozens of beds with towels on but no people at all times. Don't think we would stay here again.More
Just returned yesterday, cant praise this hotel enough, the total refurb is lovely, looks amazing, but there is a few very impractical points. Rooms are ultra modern, a little too much and slightly over the top. Bathroom is totally glass, looks great and you cannot see through if somebody on the loo or in the shower etc. Unfortunately if you go to the loo during the night or early hours, the whole of the bedroom lights up because the lights come on in the bathroom automatically when you open the door. This is very annoying especially if you are a light sleeper. T.V. on wall has a permanent blue light which we tried in vane to turn off but couldn't find a button to do so. So that meant your room was lit up in blue unless a plaster was stuck on to cover it up. There is 3 drawers in the unit next to the fridge, and limited shelving in the doorless wardrobe. Hanging space is the depth of a gents shirt, which for all the ladies was a nightmare as dresses had nowhere to hang, and had to double over and rest on the shelf across the middle, there wasn't one woman in the whole of our stay that didn't mention that one.!! These little things may sound trivial, but are quite annoying, especially the automatic lights, really no need. There is 2 sittings for dinner now, why that changed is beyond me, and the new tureens are for me a no go. The lids are extremely heavy glass, so if you have your plate in one had theres nowhere to put the lid unless its balanced very carefully across the bowl while you serve yourself whatever. Was very supprised there wasn't an accident there. Same with the chips at the end, the dish was slipping all over the place as it was on a raised area next to the roast, strange. Breakfast was always spot on, but now and again some of the main dishes were on the cold side, but a really good selection. However this is not just my opinion and some of these issues cannot be put right which is a shame. The staff are all wonderful and helpful, the cleaners are always happy and friendly and the whole place is spotless. Waiters are always very happy and chatty, reception staff cant help enough. Nattalie on entertainment is a joy, and shes expecting twins. Even though theres enough sunbeds theres still the ants out scuttling along to put the towels out. Its very annoying, as many of them don't use the beds until later in the afternoon. Some very ignorant people used to get four beds 2 brollies and use the middle 2 of four beds and left an empty one either side, which gave them more space and an extra brolly. Shame on you. All in all we had a great holliday and are booked for October for my husbands 70th birthday, which will be our 7th time here. Would recommend this hotel every time, even with the minor problems. Will just take plenty of sticking plasters and I don't wear dresses. Forgot to say the beds are so comfortable.More
