Overall this is an excellent hotel, very clean and completed refurbished so everything is brand new. An absolute positive was the number of sunbeds available, no struggling to find beds at all, even at lunchtime we were able to find a great spot on one of the doubles! The food is very good with a wide variety to choose from, I agree that the waiting staff can be a bit too eager in removing plates however. I was dubious about the two sittings- you have to decide which one to go to on your first night, but it really works and means that the restaurant is never overcrowded. You do get a designated table for a week, we would have preferred to choose a different table as and when we fancied. The Indian Restaurant is lovely too and made a nice change. You are asked if you want to have a meal there upon booking in to the hotel. The rooms are absolutely beautiful- stunning in fact, and very clean. Our balcony overlooked the street and a hotel but that honestly did not bother us at all, it was too hot to sit out. We loved both pools- rooftop and main pool area. Both very clean and well kept, do not understand a previous comment about sharp tiles? The entertainment was the only thing we felt let the hotel down, especially the evening shows, am afraid that we saw a couple of absolute dire acts and so ended up watching shows in other establishments which is a shame. One evening we arrived back to the hotel as a particularly bad duo were "singing"- we counted 13 guests watching, it really was quite embarrassing, I felt sorry for them. ( The singers, not the guests!) The hotel is set in an absolutely fabulous location between Cala Millor and Cala Bona, and the coastal path that joins both resorts is lovely, just be aware not to walk in the cycle lane! The hotel staff were (in the main) brilliant; friendly and helpful. We did find that the English lady on reception could be very brusque which was off putting to say the least. She came across as quite rude to both myself and my husband on a few occasions. We had a wonderful week at the Bonamar, would recommend (though for people aged 35+ only) and would definitely return. Thank you! :)More
Very relaxed stay
A last minute booking and a real gem. Spotlessly clean. Well refurbished. All staff were excellent and if you like a laugh the bar staff are very witty. I have no idea what others are on about with regards to the choice of food in the restaurant. We were here for a week and had an excellent choice of well presented tasty food. The Korma Indian restaurant was superb. The pool area and upper pool terrace were busy at times but at no time were we unable to find a sunbed. We will recommend this to friends who also enjoy adult only hotels. More
Just returned!! Loved every minute.
Me and my partner have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. We absolutely loved it. We are used to staying in quite boutique hotels and this certainly lived up to that! It has recently been refurbished and it's so clean and fresh. Loved the rooms, they were so modern. Comfy beds, big television with plenty of English channels. Yes storage space limited but that didn't bother us. Balcony is on the small side. Kettle and fridge in rooms. Pool was lovely. How refreshing to not have to get up early for a sunbed!! Completely disagree with comments regarding not enough sunbeds due to them being reserved. We did not rush on a morning and had plenty of choice of beds even at 10-11am. Always plenty available on rooftop pool as well. We enjoyed a couple of days up there. Can't really comment on entertainment as we went out on an evening. Food was lovely although we only ate there a couple of nights. Korma restaurant meal was lovely! We paid for everything at the hotel with our room card and settled the bill on check out. Such a good idea. The receipt also shows the balance so you know what you're spending. We were a couple in our late 20s - yes there are a lot of older couples there but also quite a few all varied ages. Everyone was friendly anyway! We will return :) More
AS Protur Bonamar
Protur Bonamar Hotel is in a great location right on the boundary of Cala Bona and the next resort Cala Millor, the hotel was fully refurbished this year so everything is shiny and new and all the services like air conditioning work perfectly. The refurbishment makes the most of the available space and while the rooms are not huge they are comfortable with all the amenities you would expect in a four star hotel such as tea and coffee, flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi which is readily available throughout the hotel even in the pool area with the bonus if you are looking for some R&R away from the kids it’s over 16 years old guests only. The rooms have balconies and some even have hot tubs if you are on the ground floor, the glass cubicle toilet and shower is a bit quirky but the showers are very good. Also what should be mentioned is the access for disabled and wheel chair users, while the ground level is split level there are ramps and lifts inside and well-designed access ramps outside so you’re not going up or down too steep a slope. The food in the hotel during our stay was excellent every day, the main restaurant was run along a buffet service the restaurant manager and his assistant Tomue and Carmen ran the place like clockwork the waiting staff were polite and efficient as were the chefs who produced an amazing array of food each day you have the choice of several main courses and twenty or so choices for desserts the place reminded me of a cruise ship. There is also a small Indian restaurant in the veranda next to the pool again the food here was excellent. The bar on the ground floor which can be opened up to the main pool area was well managed and the staff were excellent especially Manue the bar manager who would if you asked make up special cocktails that were not on the hotel menu, his Long Island Iced Tea is up there with the best. The pool and pool area were very good, the hotel has one of the best pools for its size and available space deep enough and long to have a decent swim. Again I think it’s worth mentioning the hotel has thought about less able and disabled guests the pool has steps in at one end and a hydraulic chair lift for anyone who can’t make the steps in or out. The hotel also has two other pools, a plunge type pool on the roof and a smaller swimming pool indoors in the basement next to the gym and spa area. The main pool area is also the main sunbathing area with lots of sunbeds, however the one minor glitch being not enough parasols though we were told additional parasols were on order. Another minor niggle was the pool area is surrounded by glass panels and the ground is tiles and concrete it gets very hot when the sun is shining directly on it and you can burn very quickly. The only questionable part of our experience has to be the entertainment manager Natalie, while I think she did work reasonably hard she wasn’t desperately imaginative regarding daytime activities and before the evening entertainment. Shuffle board, skittles and darts during the day and bingo for thirty minutes every night before the main entertainment, bar her day off just doesn’t get me excited, I would encourage Natalie to visit the Thomson Gold hotel along the beach for ideas, oh and Natalie cannot sing, discourage her at all costs. That said the evening entertainment was generally very good we didn’t stay in every night as the resort had many other places to visit. The only improvement could be the installation of a proper stage area as where the entertainers were unless you were at the front rows chances are you will have a pillar partially blocking your view. These minor niggles apart our experience at the Protur Bonamar was very good and would recommend it and stay again.More
Me and my boyfriend have just stayed for a week in this hotel, can't fault the aesthetics. A few things which did disappoint were - • everyone reserves sun beds even though it states not to on the rules - leaving only a couple free dotted around with the rest covered in towels with no people around them or on them all day • cracked tiles on the bottom of the pool, which could easily cut your feet, both of us caught them a few times • the dress code for dinner is shirts only which i did not expect as its only a buffet • some of the food was cold and the waiters took both plates away if one of us was finished so I had my food taken before I was done • it's a lovely hotel but I would not recommend to anyone younger than 20 as it is clearly aimed at the older generations, even though it is adults only 16+ The staff at the snack bar were exceptional, the food was lovely from there especially the pesto pasta, we had stale nachos one day though which was slightly disappointing. We ended up eating out most nights as the restaurant was not what we thought, tables too close together so felt uncomfortable.. But Our evening meal at korma, the Indian restaurant was lovely!! As we put our bags in the baggage room when we checked out there was a horrible smell coming from there which wasn't nice. But again can't fault how beautiful the hotel is definitely looks 4*.More
