This beachside hotel is getting a fresh new look for summer 2018, it comes with great views, a sociable buffet restaurant and a cocktail bar*.
The hotel slices the coast between the beaches of Son Matias and Palma Nova, so there’s sand outside and sea views from every room. It’s 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of town, and less than 15 to Magaluf.
The good-sized pool looks out over the sandy beach, and it’s circled by thatched parasols. Food-wise, the buffet restaurant serves some great fish dishes, while a pair of bars covers cocktails and entertainment.

As I have seen mentioned previously the room was on the small side for 3 people but adequate as you only really sleep & shower there or perhaps grab an afternoon nap. However, it does seem a bit mean to charge for a fridge in the room to enable you to keep drinks cool. Nor do they provide any tea/coffee making facilities – presumably because there will a lot of people either fully inclusive or half board. Fortunately, we were prepared with a travelling kettle, tea bags etc. The bathroom similarly is not overly spacious but was immaculately tiled, exceptionally clean and well equipped with a hairdryer, shower/bath, soap dispensers, towels and plenty of toilet paper. After all; how many make use of it at a time? So, size is not so important! The rooms were cleaned every day and the cleaner, despite the language difference, was very pleasant and efficient. The air conditioning was effective and not overly intrusive while trying to sleep. The location of this hotel provides for fantastic sea views and being on the 4th floor we were high enough to really appreciate this. As we were on the pool side can happily say there was no noise issues either during the day from people at the pool or at night from the entertainment provided by the hotel. In respect of the restaurant facilities I found the choices excellent and while I did not like everything there was always a suitable alternative. Food can be a very emotive subject but if you expect to be provided with the same as you have at home - don’t leave home! I certainly found the restaurant staff very friendly, helpful, competent and very well organised. While I cannot say I spent a lot of time in the evening partaking of the hotel provided entertainment what I did see seemed reasonable and very well attended. The Elvis impersonator was certainly well appreciated by many. As for the pool; we didn’t seem to have any problems getting sunbeds so I’m not sure why some raise this as an issue perhaps it depends on the time you holiday and the people visiting at the same time as you? The pool itself was clean and though there was an indoor pool I never saw it being used. For those on half board or bed & breakfast either literally either side, across the road, or within minutes’ walk there are a whole range of restaurants that offer a range of foods and reasonable prices. There are also plenty of the ubiquitous tourist shops where you can pick up any amount of tat to take home if that is your thing. Overall this hotel is definitely worth a visit and you can decide for yourself whether you believe the negative feedback I have read or make sure you make the most of the positive things that make anyone’s holiday. My only real off-putting issue was where it seemed you could extend your occupancy on the final day of your holiday by a few hours (we had really bad flight times at 2am!). This was in the literature provided in the room. We found out that we could only enquire on the day we were leaving only to be told they were fully booked and there was no availability. Better management is required in this matter as this could be where a lot of negativity can arise in respect of the hotel. Especially when people get home and write reviews! One last point for those with bad flight times and final evening meal (technically you have checked out) suggest you speak to the rep as they confirmed we could use the restaurant. Funnily I had written to the tour operator who responded; “I am sorry that you are missing out on an evening meal. Unfortunately, package holidays are booked for 7 days from 12pm on the day of departure from the UK, regardless of flight times. Your holiday is therefore booked from 12pm on 8th July until 12pm on 15th July and because of the late flight times, this does not fit in with the meal schedule. Sometimes, hotels will allow you to eat after the check out time, but this would be entirely at the manager's discretion”. Not entirely helpful but their rep was and full marks to him as he was one of the best reps I have come across. PS – the best feedback is where the person would be happy to return and I would definitely go back to this hotel!More
Definitely not a 4 star.
pros: -Excellent location -Clean rooms with great sea view. cons: -Restaurant staff not friendly -Variety and quality of food not great. -Drinks not included in evening meal (for HB basis), can be purchased for minimum 2euros (bottle of water).More
I came here with my husband and 20 years old daughter.. rather than making a list so I will just point out the pros and cons list below: Pros: Hotel situated in a perfect position Beach very closed by Local shops and bars on your doorstep Cleaners worked very hard to keep your room cleaned every day and changed beddings and towels Get beach towels during your stay and give you free beach bag Cons: Rooms need updating to be a four stars You will need to pay to use a fridge in your room which we refused to Pool very small and you need to be up early to get sun beds.. my husband went at 6.30am but all sunbeds all gone so we never went in the pool during our stays If you go on the sun beds on the beach.. again you will be charged for this ..,quite expensive if go every day so some people just put towels on the sand Food very basic and boring so we end up paying for foods at the 3 brothers across the road from us which is excellent and service was very welcoming.. there is a snack bar but you have to pay for snacks ! Entertainment.. different acts every night but they all sing.. mini quiz and bingo every day before the acts come on but that it Don't bring young children if planning staying at this hotel Only one bar open during the day and the queues can be long and after 6pm the other bar is open while the other one shut.. only small area for all inclusive to get drinks and bars staffs concentrate on paying customers getting their drinks before us Love Palma nova but will not be returning to this hotel as we was disappointed More
3 years since our last visit.
We have stayed at the Santa Lucia lots of time over the last 20 years, our expectations are set before we arrive, so we are not surprised or disappointed. Room basic and very small for 2 adults and 1 child, balcony view excellent, very quiet at night - sleep very well. Pool small, sunbeds are very short in supply unless you wish to queue from 7.00am for the doors to open at 8.00am! So the chance of relaxing by the pool after 9.00 will never happen, the hotel seems happy for towels left on sunbeds for most of the day without being used. Not at all happy to bay 32 euro's to hire a safe in the wardrobe, fridges were also extra, this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. Food basic but good variety but on day 4 the menu starts to repeat, on day 6 and day 7 we opted to eat out, always hot and staff were excellent and very obliging. Drinks - very poor, we were all inclusive, Alcohol- only lager and cheap spirits available, anything else we had to pay half towards, the queue for a drink was the worst part of the holiday, my wife stood in temperatures approaching 40 degrees for 25 minutes twice to get drinks outside during the day. Bar staff very slow, unfriendly and understaffed. And finally there was a charming young waiter in the restaurant called Mike who was so helpful and friendly, but his boss was constantly bullying him in front of guests, not the best way to motivate your staff and not what my daughter wanted to witness.More
The hotel front lobby and restaurant are all nice. The room and view were ok and the bathroom was really nice. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. However the clientele were awful. All inclisive who thought they were on a mission to be first at the sunbeds, first to the buffet and the bar meant it wasnt a hotel for me.More
