This place is more like a village than a hotel – that means you get a big choice of restaurants, bars and pools.
This place is modelled on a traditional Canarian village. The reception area is a full-scale replica of one of the island’s oldest churches, and there’s a central square where you’ll find an Italian restaurant.
You’re a few minutes’ stroll from Meloneras’s sand-and-shingle beach. And it’s a 10 to 15 minute walk to Meloneras’s paved promenade, which is lined with shops and restaurants.

Solid four rather than five star
This was my second stay here, having been previously six or so years ago. We enjoyed our stay but there are certain areas of the experience which fall short of the five star, luxury billing the hotel advertises itself at. First the good. The pools, architecture and staff are excellent. We had a sea-view room and having emailed ahead (though not getting a reply) we had a room that met most of our criteria, with a great view. Drinks prices were reasonable and not much different to the bars on the promenade. We don't really care for evening entertainment, but having caught the odd bit of a few shows they looked fine for what they are (some peoples expectations seem a bit high, this is never going to be the West End...). The hotel has enough bars that you can easily avoid if you want to. The majority of clients seem to be German, I didn't witness any of the favouritism others claimed to have seen. There isn't much point in me going into detail about the wifi and safe situation as it's repeated in almost every review and the hotel response is always the same, but suffice to say if the hotel really must charge for such basics at least make them work. Our safe locked us out twice and refused to lock once over the course of the week. The wifi was so bad at times that it couldn't cope with a Twitter feed loading. Five star hotels costing this much shouldn't be charging for nor having these type of problems. I wouldn't recommend the half-board option we were on. Breakfast is fine, albeit exactly the same every day. The dinner situation is a bit of a farce, being hotel rather than guest orientated in it's approach. The main buffet has two sittings, 6.30pm and 8.30pm. However, the first sitting closes at 7.15pm, giving you all of 45 minutes between 6.30 and 8.30 to get in for your meal. The 8.30 sitting had long queues so realistically you were looking at nearer 9pm before you actually ate. I fail to see the logic here - the same restaurant has no such process in place for breakfast when far more people are eating, so why make dinner so difficult? The food was also patchy in terms of quality (it was better on my previous visit, there looked to be definite signs of cost cutting - all week, for example, the only choices of potato were baked, chips or a sort-of dauphinoise. The pasta option was the same every day) and just getting food could be chaotic due to the strange layout. For similar money you can eat in one of the many restaurants in the boulevard. We had some good lunches there and would definitely choose this instead if returning. To be fair, you could eat anytime in the evening in the overflow restaurant opposite but this had less choice and limited outdoor seating, indoors being a bit of a grim experience. Finally, in both restaurants the dress code enforcement is counter productive - I really don't want to sound sexist, but making men wear shoes and long trousers but letting women in looking like they have just walked off the beach is daft. Either have a policy for everyone or don't bother. The rooms are starting to look a bit dated, the only change from my previous visit (literally) being a flat-screen rather than CRT TV. All the standard rooms are big and have a good walk-in wardrobe, but the 'double' is actually two single beds pushed together and there appears to be zero sound proofing. If you are in any way a light sleeper or sensitive to noise I strongly recommend not staying here. I woke up on occasion thinking someone was in our room, it was that loud and clear what the neighbours were up to. In summary, despite these problems we enjoyed our stay and would (cautiously) recommend the hotel. A top floor, end of block room on a B&B basis would, I suspect, be a markedly better experience.More

Just returned from 11 nights in this lovely hotel. Great room with super sea view, walk in wardrobe, and very clean (best hairdryer I've had in a hotel room too). All the staff are so friendly, from reception to maintenance men you're always acknowledged and greeted. Beautiful well kept gardens and grounds, and all the swimming pools, especially the quiet pools were excellent. Just disappointed we had to come home.More
Just back from a wonderful week of relaxation at the Villa Del Conde. I was there 9 years ago, it was fantastic then however it's superb now! These are the details I would have liked to know before going... There are pool towels in the room which can be exchanged daily ...don't waste valuable luggage space packing one ! You can book a room for 30 mins on the day of departure to shower and change if your airport pickup is in the evening. Half board is a brilliant option. ..the choices are endless and excellent quality. All of the staff went out of their way to be of assistance. There is daily cleaning and a turndown service. Drink prices are very reasonable. The Thalasso Circuit in the Spa is worth every penny... Treat yourself ! More
First class 5 star Superb
This was our tenth visit to the Villa del Conde and their high standards are definitely being maintained and in many ways raised. The food which was always fabulous was even better this year and I love the white table linen and attention to detail in the food presentation The staff here are wonderful and it feels like returning to friends The grounds and planting are kept in immaculate condition. Rooms are fabulous with a very high standard of cleanliness We preferred the previous arrangement with entertainment being in the plaza where there was more space, however the entertainment was excellent The Thalasso remains sublime and my favourite Ever. Anywhere Fabulous family holiday. Many thanks to all the lovely staff who work hard and keep the hotel as beautiful as it is. More
