ARRIVAL:-Arrival at hotel was of a good standard cava offered on arrival staff polite friendly check in fast smooth no problems.Although hotel wasn't clearly signposted on looking off the arrival coach to know which hotel we were actually at. ROOM- Room number 369 off a good size everything as needed for the week bathroom a little dated could be hard for elderly people getting into bath to shower. glass shower screen dangerous as it hits the marble sink top and could potentially shatter although we had no issue. Bed comfy enough although the mattress was poor but comfort was from a mattress topper.decor room wallpaper damaged in areas.fridge started to leak water on last day of stay overall room basic a suited our needs. HOTEL GROUNDS-This is the best part of the hotel grounds lovely quite a big complex excellent views from our room out towards sea/pool area.heated pool is great for swimming and general relaxing/sunbathing.Sun beds we're old outdated and we're dirty around bottom pool areas but top heated area we're clean and off newer quality. This could do with addressing with new sun beds of same quality for whole hotel.some areas hotel need general painting/ maintaining i.e. Door on our room floor level areas hotel painting making it look cleaner. DINING/FOOD-This was our biggest let down on arrival we were offered a meal we eat in buffet restaurant we found this poor very bland tasteless also a lot of flies on the bread near the door.hygiene not very good.Next morning we went for breakfast food undercooked eggs served from live station was half cooked still yolky on top sausages just about cooked enough bacon only half cooked to to over lapping off the bacon when being cooked went twice for breakfast both times the same issues as above. Evening time we could not go to eat as I did not take pants with me as I did not see this when booking was compulsory so was refused entrance at evening I also brought this up with Thomson reps who said the hotel was very strict on this policy so we never eat at nighttime for which we were all inclusive had to go out for evening meals at a big cost. The best food was at the pool bar which we eat at every dinner time couldn't fault the meals there. OVERALL-Good stay in playa blanca although would not revisit this hotel as it needs a lot of work doing to get to where I think they want to be with privilege idea which I don't think is worth the extra although we did not go privilege.hotel price we paid was way overpriced for what the hotel standards are at present compared to other hotels we have visited. I am a 30 year old couple not posh from a council estate in Manchester before we get negatives on being over posh people. Staff are the best part of note as all lovely people.More
Our 2nd visit not sure if we would return
We joined the H10 club after staying with Thomsons last year. We were led to believe if you book direct with the hotel you would get a better rate and also roomn. This is definitely not the case. We were trying to book for a long time but no rooms available until we had a pop up on our computer saying they had one room left so we booked it. We had asked for a high floor. We were put in Room 022 underground almost with no view at all dark and dingy we asked to be on a higher floor and told we had paid for a basic room this was not the case they said it was the only room left. But on arrival we were told we could upgrade to a better room which cost us another 400 euros it should have been 700 euros extra for ten nights. We paid 2100 euros HB for 10 nights without flights on speaking to others they had only paid £1200 for all inclusive last minute with flights for a week so the answer is don't book direct and not last minute. Couldn't understand on check in we were offered lots of choice of rooms!!. The sunbed no reserving is a joke good idea but we watched Brits reserving 6 sunbeds at a time at 7.45am then taking it in turns with others to go for breakfast it is so sad that people go on holiday and their priority is to get the same sunbeds every day...get a life you sad people we say. There are hundreds on sunbeds from 9.30am available. The food was good and varied. We found eating lunchtime at the hotel was expensive so walked up the road to various bars etc. The weather was dull until 2 most days and very windy which didn't bother us.It has to be said this was our second visit and people rave about the Manager Eric we couldn't tell you who the Managers were as they seemed to only talk to the people on All inclusive with their rubber bands on. I would have thought couples like ourselves who paid for drinks and over the top on our reservation would have been made very welcome but sorry not the case. The corridors have signs saying Silence at night but people do insist after rolling from the bars at 3am shouting and singing as they stagger back to their room and the tiled floors are very noisy.. We suggest trying if you can getting a top floor room we had to purchase earplugs as the walking of peoples feet was horrendous above our room which apparently was a Privealege Room! We would think twice about returning which is sad as could be so good. You have to pay for a fridge and safe in your room.More
2 week holiday
Stayed here end of June 17. Great reception and helpful staff helped down with cava on arrival. Lovely clean room with great views. Liked the dinner dress code and sunbed 'rule' as explained at reception and in the hotel info. Lovely choice of well cooked and presented food. Impressed that you could not hear any noise from the entertainment and piano bar areas when you are in your room. Great facilities, pools, gym etc. and not harassed by animation team. Wifi was only available in reception but when leaving they were installing cables ready for wifi in all rooms. Room SAFE we found a bit expensive to rent. This is a great child free hotel.More

Couldn't ask for more!
This was our first family all-inclusive holiday break and it has to be said that others would struggle to live up to the standards delivered in this hotel. From check in to check out we had a great time and no problems with any aspects of our stay. Admittedly the Wi-Fi is disappointing but we all managed and did see the notices indicating that remedial work is underway. All the regular brand named drinks were available as part of the all-inclusive although some of the wine selections were little limited. I really like the way the Hotel sticks to the no sunbed reservation before 9:30 AM rule. During our stay it was windy most of the time and cloudy each morning although most of this had burned off by about 11 AM. I would recommend the pool bar for lunchtime Tapas and beer or cava depending on your preference. The entertainment was varied and on occasions could have lasted longer particularly on the rock tribute night. Although the swimming pool is perhaps a little cool this did help ensure that we were able to stay out for most of the day. The age profile of the guests changed during the course of course our stay from slightly older to younger couples and family groups. All in all we had a very relaxing time and will likely go back to this hotel.More
10 day holiday
My wife and I have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Timanfaya Palace. We had a great holiday with very few negatives worth mentioning and I always attempt to give an honest appraisal of our experienced when giving feedback. We had a private Taxi transfer as we were on a Thomson package and this was a first for us, I can honestly recommend this, we were directed straight to a Taxi right outside the arrivals building with very little walking with our cases involved, the taxi was immediate and brought us straight to the Hotel. We were checked in, unpacked, changed and back down into the bar for a quick drink just as the coach transfer people were arriving. Our first impression of the hotel was a very good one. clean with lots of open space and efficient staff. All of the staff overall were professional, welcoming and friendly and a credit to the hotel. At NO time did we engage with a staff member who did not want us to have a great time The food in the buffet restaurant was nothing short of excellent in our view, so much so that we didn't take advantage of using our free night at the other two bookable options. We have cruised on at least 15 separate cruises and this hotels buffet was better than our average experience with some premier cruise companies and their standard is normally quite high. We have travelled extensively from the US, Caribbean and throughout the Mediterranean and this hotel has been up with the best holidays we have experienced overall. We are not a fussy couple and do not complain about small issues or let them affect our vacations to any degree. we have never yet found perfection and don't expect too. Saying that, this hotel and it's staff give the impression that they strive to deliver just that. Regardless of being able to deliver perfection just to know that they are always trying too is evidence of their work ethic and genuine attempts to give you a great stay. They always attempted to address any small problems we had such as not being able to work our safe but they did so immediately. The drinks on offer in the all inclusive package were excellent. The sunbed policy of not reserving beds prior to 09.30 was a refreshing change while on vacation and this was managed by the staff well removing any towels and belongings that were left unattended prior to that time. After 09.30 you were able to come and go as you pleased and this seemed to work well so well done to the hotel for that. We were located on the 5th floor and it was quite a walk to and from from our room but it is a large hotel so you need to expect that this may be the case. This may be a consideration if you have mobility issues, I would suggest speaking to the hotel prior to arrival if you have such problems which I am sure they would do their best in accommodating. As others have mentioned, the WIFI available is very poor but the hotel are in the middle of dealing with the issue so hopefully in the near future this will be sorted. We personally wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel and have in fact done so already. We would ourselves return without hesitation and have no doubt that we will in the near future. I read trip advisor prior to our visit and do so wherever we go. I would say that 90 percent of the negative feedback left there for this hotel is either unfounded, malicious or left by people who are natural complainer's that are rarely pleased by anything in life. Sure, if you look for the negatives in your surroundings you will find them ANYWHERE. That's not to say you should accept poor treatment or shoddy / substandard services but that is certainly NOT what we found on offer at the Timanfaya Palace. We have no obligation or alternative motives in offering praise towards the hotel but feel that credit is due when we feel it is warranted and this hotel and its staff are deserving of such. Book with the confidence in knowing you will be staying at a hotel that offers high standards of friendly service. High standards of quality and varied food on offer that will satisfy even the most fussy of eaters. If you go all inclusive a good selection of brand name drinks will keep you satisfied. The hotel is clean and has a beautiful pool area with plenty of sunbeds that you will not have to fight over or get up a ridiculous O'Clock to secure a one for the day.More
