Stayed in the hotel for a week ,AI ,standard package ,everything was good ,had no problems ,have now stayed in eight hotels in Lanzarote over the years ,some five star , others four star, so I feel we had a idea pretty much what to expect ,love the island especially Plays Blanca ,will be going back there soon . We have no loyalty to any particular hotel, its all about price ,I paid £580 each through Jet 2 who were very good ,local airport ,weekend flight etc. So I was happy with cost. We like to have a few holidays a year so every pound counts . This hotel rates about in the middle of the hotel pack ,its a typical nineties build hotel for a few hundred guests ,despite its age ,its well maintained and very clean, the staff are a credit to the hotel. Location is also a winner ,but you should know that before you go. Don't be put off by the deluxe system ,it had no impact on the enjoyment we had ,if you want to pay the extra go for it, I just wanted to save the £400 it would have cost me for something else .If I was only having one break a year I would probably pay for the deluxe for the few extras it gave you . But I did see some people using the deluxe area who shouldn't have been there ,if I had paid extra and couldn't get a nice comfy bed ,I would be a bit cheesed off. Rooms are well cleaned and quite large, beds ok, ,plenty off room for clothes ,good bath and shower ,large bathroom, nice large outside area with table and chairs. Two good pools ,large one at sea facing side is lovely and warm ,not many hotels in Lanzarote have heated pools ,so this was a bonus, could always find a couple of beds some ware, whatever time of day it was .Location is great ,close to everything ,good for a walk in the daytime or after tea etc. Spent a couple of days on beach only three euro per bed and umbrella, the sea is so clear ,full of fish ,but a little cold ,but I am sure as the week wore on it got warmer. The hotel had a nice mixture of people from all over Europe, so this I feel keeps everything well balanced ,you can also have some great conversations with people from other countries. Food is buffet style ,I am not a fussy eater so there was always something for me ,my Jan sometimes struggled with what was on offer ,but again she didn't starve. There are some cracking restaurants and food outlets in Playa Blanca ,so if you fancy a change go out for the night . Had some good entertainment throughout the week ,some better than others ,but everybody's put the effort in, we love a trier ,so be respectful. So well done Hotel Playa Dorada.Keep up the good work. Would I go again ,the answer is yes if price was right . Happy holidays .More
The hotel and its staff worked really hard to make our holiday excellent. The service was great, the food was varied and plentiful. We went on the deluxe package this time, but we know from past experience that the normal All Inclusive package is good value for money. Would we recommend this hotel to people, we already have and friends are there as I write. Thank you to all at the Playa Dorada. More
First visit to Lanzarote
Friends had recommended this Hotel. We found it to be excellent. We chose all inclusive and thought it was good value. The resort was not particularly busy and this added to the enjoyment. The location was good, able to walk along the promenade a considerable distance in either direction.More
Very pleasant experience - lovely staff
We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Hesperia Playa Dorada hotel on the Deluxe package. The hotel is very well located between the marina in Playa Dorada and the town of Playa Blanca with a few bars and restaurants in between. The very nice beach is a hundred yards or so away and whilst access to it is a little steep, the walkways are very flat and wide. The hotel is very good, clean, bright and spacious and whilst we arrived ahead of the check-in time, we were made very welcome with a drink, and directed to the restaurant for lunch. The room we had was very nice, exceptionally clean, spacious and a nice balcony, although the coffee making machine was a challenge for us. The grounds are very nice with plenty of sunbeds available. There is a dedicated bathing area for the Deluxe guests although this is not policed and whilst we were not personally effected, we did hear some people complaining that they had upgraded and couldn't fine sunbeds in that specific area. At times the pool bar was very busy and could have done with additional staff but most guests gave way to customers who they recognised had been waiting longer. There is a requirement to sign receipts even if all inclusive and that process can be time consuming but I think I can understand why the hotel wish to collate this data. The restaurants were very good and the service in general was excellent, even at peak times. The choice of food and drink, both soft and alcoholic, was extensive and wide, with pasta, meat and fish dishes cooked in front of you to your liking. The staff throughout our stay were excellent, always passing the time of day with a smile. We have to mention Rogelio specifically though. he noticed that my wife was eating mainly salad dishes and asked why. She has a garlic intolerance and once he became aware of this he ensured that she was offered a specially prepared dish each night which was superb each time - thank you. We would have no hesitation in both returning and highly recommending this hotel to anybody who wants a very comfortable, relaxing, high quality holiday.More
Great but could do better.
Great location, good food, great staff if a little overworked! The room was basic but the bathroom was a little dated and showing signs of age, some mound in grouting etc. A walk in shower facility would be better, safer to use and easier to clean. Restaraunt was good although at times there seemed to be too few staff hence sometimes you had a wait for things like tea/coffee. The rules regarding dress code need to be enforced more rigidly. Shorts and scruffy t shirts at dinner time do not enhance the hotels reputation.More
