This was our third visit to this hotel and it is just as wonderful as the first. The hotel is in need of a little TLC but its still a great hotel, the staff are so helpful anything you want just ask. When we arrived we had upgraded to a sea view room and we were not disappointed and to make things better the hotel had supplied a bottle of champagne and a plate of fruit as a thank you for returning a third time. That apart the hotel caters mainly for elderly people like us who return time after time and get to know the staff, but there are many young couples who go with young children. The prices are quite high at the bar but you expect this when they put on entertainment from 8pm to 12 midnight with very good acts. Do not be put off by the few bad reviews with petty problems, give it a try for your self and you decideMore
still here at moment location is very good hotel staff are very professional hotel all inclusive is better option as food and drink can be expensive however it is all branded drinks and everything is included very good value. room service is excellent not had any issues this hotel is more for older couples and a more select clientele without sounding to patronising. would I come again YES definitely and if your a single traveller it's ideal everyone mingles More
Stayed here for one week on an all Inclusive basis. Nice check in, porter takes cases up to your room. We paid extra for a sea view (well worth it). Lovely balcony. Mini fridge in room and bottled water topped up every day. Room was cleaned every day. Food was good, quite a variation (but if staying for 10/14 days would get repetative). Food wasnt always piping hot, but having said that, plenty of mircrowaves to heat food up. Always a themed section each night, Chinese was delicous. Breakfast, plenty of choice and the egg station was good, omlete made to order. Alcholic drinks were premium, ( i would recommend asking for the brand though, eg smirnoff), Pool/snack bar plenty of choice for food. Entertainment was good. the location excellent, so close to Playa del Carmen with all the shops/bars/restaurants. My only criticism is the hairdryer in the bathroom, OK if your left handed and have no hair!! power was very poor. Also, the staff around the pool bar need a lesson in customer service (!!) Admit they were always busy but customer service whatsoever. All in all, would come back, worth paying extra for a sea view More
Bar prices are a little high
I have just returned from a week at this hotel. The room I had 2104 was a sea view room overlooking the gardens the balcony was bathed in sunshine in the afternoon. The room was clean and fresh but I agree with others that there is a shortage of electrical sockets in the room. The air conditioning in the room worked perfectly. The dining room was large but very busy and the food choices at both breakfast and evening meal were very good, I did not take lunch in the hotel. The bar service can at times be a little slow and the pricing is hard to justify, by this I mean that the pool bar charges â¬3.50 for a pint of beer but the upstairs evening bar charges â¬4.50 for the same product. If you are a person that likes to spend the evening at the hotel bar then it might be wise to upgrade to all inclusive at a cost of â¬28 per person per day. I know this sounds a lot but when you consider that a southern comfort and lemonade costs â¬7.75 in the upstairs bar then it does not take long to cover this charge. It also includes lunch. I did not go all inclusive as I liked to lunch out and also visit other bars in the evenings, I think the AI charge also covers the cost of the safe and fridge but not sure. I visited this hotel during term time as a solo traveller so I don't know what it would be like for families with children. I would also point out that at the time I visited the majority of guest were in an older age range but that might just be us oldies avoiding kids holiday times. Would I use this hotel again. Yes. Would I recommend this hotel to friends . Yes. More
Disappointed recent trip - a different opinion to others...
Just returned from a 2 week stay at VIK Hotel San Antonio. The Pros Very nice pools by the sea and beautiful walks close by. Check in very efficient and most of the reception staff very nice. Bus stop right outside the resort. The Cons Our room (#208) was extremely small with a very small balcony. The curtains & bed linen were so dated. The carpet was badly stained. The bathroom was small and tiles would have needed to be power hosed to be cleaned properly. There were elastic bands holding up the shower hose. The shower was in the bath which was a worry as my husband is in his 70's and has Parkinsons. There was no socket beside the bed to enable my husband use a breathing machine. I raised these concerns with reception and we were given an extension lead to go from one side of the room to the other in order to be able to use the machine - this was cause for further concern so we moved the bed ourselves and secured the lead with insulating tape to try and make it safe. After unpacking and setting ourselves up, we were then offered a change of room for a room that had a stand alone shower but at a cost of â¬16 plus per night. The fridge, if you wanted to use it cost â¬8.50 per week (a diabetic lady we spoke with told us she was charged even though she just wanted to store her insulin). There was also a â¬7 plus charge to hire a kettle for a week (they kindly gave me this complimentary given I was so disappointed with our room). The wifi/internet was a joke. It was available in only one area of the hotel but was so bad, it was not worth using. There are quite a lot of steps in the resort, just to note, if booking as a lot of the clientele are elderly. Breakfast was ok. Lunch was worse than bad and dinner was cold and repetitive with the exception of the specialty of the night - Chinese/Italian/Spanish dishes. All in all I would not recommend this hotel and I would certainly not return. I have stayed in better 2 star hotels. More
