avoid this hotel until after April 2018
hotel ok but not platinum. Noise from next door renovations unacceptable. No alternative offered and would not have booked if correct information given by travel company. Complete waste of money; 2 weeks of my life wasted. Came home very stressed and feel I need a holiday. Very very angry.More
Great hotel had building site
It has to be said the hotel it self is a good hotel with good sized clean rooms cleaned daily the air con was probably one of the best I have experienced.Food there is always a large choice and we found it to be of good quality of you like desserts then you will be in heaven. The bars are well stocked and efficient but during the day you will get drinks in plastic cups. You can only get small beers but that was not a problem to us. Staff are helpful and efficient although restaurant staff and had staff should try smiling once in a while. The animation team are fantastic and do their very best to keep people busy both day and night. The a large carte restaurant is fantastic as is the food there and the service. The only real down side is something the hotel can do nothing about. The property next door is going through major refurbishment and the noise can be unbearable. Our room over looked the site and it is so close you can hear the workmen talkii. The use of pneumatic drills went on some days from 07:30 until 19:00 making sitting on th balcony out of the question. As I say the hotel can do nothing about this but the letter received from Thomson days before departure only mentions furniture being thrown to the ground from the upper floors complete rubbish the property is just a shell and contains no furniture some days the noise affects the pool areas badly as well. The work is due to Finnish at the beginning of 2018 as I understand. That said good holiday just not great because of something out of the control of the hotelMore
Great hotel, shame about the noise!!
An honest review based first on the hotel. My friend and I stayed for 1 week at Hovima and have mixed feelings about the hotel. Positives first... Fantastic animation team and a shout out to David, Miky and Julian who were all fantastic and very for friendly. Clean rooms Great selection of food Customers all very friendly Great location Plenty of sinners available Negatives Food could be hotter Entertainment ok but could be more professional Showers in room not great and floor gets soaked Pool could be a bit bigger And lastly ..... the hotel next door!!!! The noise is shocking and obviously not Hovimas fault but we had terrible noise for 6 days out of 7 Drilling started at 7.45am every morning and continued till approx 6.30pm. Lots of workman and we were directly opposite the hotel in room 433 and woke up every morning to about 40 workman looking at us. The level of noise from the refurbishment was awful and ruined our holiday. I will be contacting Thomson to complain I would return to this hotel but not until the iberostar has finished its refurbishment More
Sorry to read about complaints of the building noise next door, we were there and for 2 weeks it was hell all day long, but this is not the hotel's fault, the people to blame for the spoiled holiday are TUI Thomson for not giving us the opportunity to cancel. Now onto the hotel review. First the bad things, won't take long. 1. We had a suite which was capable of sleeping 4, but as in all the rooms we had 1 wardrobe with no doors and only 2 small drawers for the rest of our clothes, so the rooms looked very untidy. More clothes storage space please. 2. The gym was a complete waste of space, not one free weight only a cheap multi gym, which was not very multi. 3. The bar was very comfortable, service good, but there was no entertainment inside, no piano or even recorded music. 4. The entertainment, which was outside in May, was no better or worse than most hotels, but started at 9pm with either bingo or a quiz in 5 languages followed by the handing out of diplomas for the days events. Come on this is the 21st century, surely something up to date could be devised. On one night only the staff had most people up and dancing from 9pm, but only one night. 5. A la carte restaurant, we were entitled to use it every night if we wanted, once was once too many, we asked for a window seat, (none were taken) oh what a problem this was, still manager got his own back on us for inconveniencing him, waited 25 mins for 1st course, 20 mins for second course and dessert was served before we had finished the second course. Ate in the excellent buffet after that fiasco. Now for the good parts. Would definitely return, most staff happy and willing to help, beds comfortable, cleaning 1st class, dining room one of the best we have been to. all public areas were spotlessly clean, service everywhere 1st class, pools very good one still heated. More than enough sun beds for everyone, and at least on umbrella and table for 2 beds, that is a first. Although towels still went out at 6am, there was no need. Pool towels were changed everyday, just swap the over yourself no one checking that you did not take 2 (another first) other hotels take note,More

Stayed for a week at the hovima and was very happy with our stay. Booked a comfort room but were given a room on the 6 th floor (room 611) which was spacious and clean with robes and slippers included and amazing long terrace which got the sun all day, with 2 sun beds and table and chairs . Beds comfy extra pillows available in room ,tea coffee facilities and a bottle of water left every day . There is a fridge in the room but extra charge for this so we didn't bother would have thought that for a four star platinum all inclusive hotel this would be included . Terrace was walled so not much of a view but this didn't bother us . The only issue we had was leaky shower tray but maid left extra towel every day which made it manageable didn't affect our stay . The rest of the hotel was lovely ,spacious and clean ,yes it is a little tired in places but it wasn't a issue for us . Plenty of sun beds available whenever we went down to the pool ,mainly visited the infinity pool which was cold but bearable . Food was tasty but sometimes a little tepid for my taste , plenty of choice available . Breakfast was ok but not keen on the hot dog sausages and the bacon not too clever . Orange juice from machine was not very nice but jugs of orange juice were available so we opted for that . Entertainment was good on the nights we saw it very enthusiastic friendly team . All staff were happy and friendly on the whole and happy to help . We went all inclusive and drinks were ok what you'd expect from all inclusive local beer ,spirits etc . . The hotel is very well situated for all amenities . I have read reviews on here that say there are a lot of older generation folks here but we found it to be a good mixture of ages . The noise from the building works next door is a bit loud with lots if drilling and this was a issue at times especially when the music was turned up at the lower pool to try and cover it . Charge for safe 28 euros a week (bit steep we thought) with 10 returned and pool towels 15 euros each returnable deposit . All in all we had a relaxing stay and would return More
