First time but certainly not the last
Never having been to Tenerife before we consider ourselves very lucky to have stayed at the Hovima on our first trip. From start to finish the staff were unfailingly helpful and very friendly in all areas of the hotel, pool bar, restaurant and inside bar. They were incredibly busy especially over the Easter when the hotel seemed full to capacity but the level of service never suffered and was consistently of the highest standard. The food was some of the best we have ever had, smoked salmon and bucks fizz for breakfast, a fantastic variety of fresh fish throughout the two weeks and occasional barbeques on the terrace - absolutely brilliant. The entertainment was good and offered something for everyone. The entertainment team were the best we have ever experienced. Even though we did not get involved in many of the games the team always spoke to us and had a laugh. Micky was great fun and was always checking that you were enjoying yourself - a massive asset to the hotel. We met some lovely people especially Frederik (who always seemed to find himself on the stage) and Marie, who made the holiday even better - Skol. Thanks to everyone at the Hovima, we will certainly return to this gem of a hotel. Terry and AnneMore
Lovely Hotel, amazing weather, new friends
My husband and I had a wonderful holiday at the Hovima from 26th March until 2nd April. Many thanks again to Gemma Almarcha for her assistance in us being allocated a high rise room on the 9th floor. It was brilliant. Amazing views and we even had our own sunbeds! We were very pleased with the great variety of food available, high standard of cleanliness in all areas, and excellent waiter service and friendly animation team. Good evening entertainment although we thought, along with other guests, that the entertainment area could be made bigger, to accommodate a larger audience, as there was plenty of seating area all around the main venue. There is a larger show area outside but it is only used during the day and warmer evenings. Also the inside bar only opened on an evening and guests didn't have the choice of sitting indoors if they wanted to unless they obtained their alcoholic drinks from the outside Pool bars. However, soft drinks were available from the indoor machines. Most ladies will agree, perhaps, that a mirror could be installed in the bedrooms, Very handy for applying make-up and styling hair when bathroom is being used. Hovima is very central with shops, restaurants and bars all around. The view of the mountains to the back of the hotel is magnificent. Short walk to the beach. We would certainly recommend the Hovima hotel and hope to return sometime for another enjoyable holiday.More
Maybe not for a young couple
My girlfriend and I both late 20s early 30s booked this holiday a few weeks before arriving as wanted a quick break away. Therefore booked all inclusive, adult only in Tenerife just to chill out around the pool and the fact it has sporting activities if didn't have the weather. Arrived late the room was ready however extremely dated and having asked for a double the bed was just to single pushed together with single linen which is a bit weird when wanting a double bed. Shower leaked throughout the whole stay but the rooms were cleaned to high standard. Felt a bit money grabbing when you have to pay for use of the security locker, never been asked for this maybe a deposit but not to use it. Food was okay for about two days then we both got fed up of the same type of food and the salad occasionally came out looking very old. Therefore spent more money outside eating in order to get decent dinner. Drinks are as expected, local which are perfectly fine for a weeks holiday. Staff however was extremely rude at the outside bars not giving you any eye contact and just slamming the drinks down. Could tell they didn't want to be there. However entertainment staff were great with activities during evening and night even though not for someone of our age. Disappointed that tennis courts not complete as advertised and also we waiting to use the spa on final day to find it shuts on Sunday. Maybe our fault not to check however we have never been somewhere when it closes on Sunday..not even England. Pool area is good and the pools were very clean however don't expect a lie in if you want to get a bed!!!!! Location is great and can get anywhere within local area. We had a great holiday however this was mainly down to good weather, good food outside hotel and great day at Siam Park. This hotel was just not up to the standard that it cost us to stay here. Would highly recommend not doing all inclusive in Tenerife as to us food and drink was reasonably priced outside of hotels and better quality. More
We had an excellent time!.
My partner and I stayed here for two weeks last September and we were very happy that we did, it was clean, the staff were very friendly and courteous, spoilt for choice with the excellent food, the evening entertainment was very good too. The fact it was an adults only hotel was also a big plus. Top tip: stay away from the bar opposite the hotel entrance, you'll get ripped off!.More
Great little break!
Returned from this hotel last week and had a great time. I was a little bit unsure at first as lots of reviews on here had mentioned it was mainly for older people. We are a couple in our early 30's and we were not on our own, there was a mix of young and older couples. The hotel is very modern and clean. The resteraunt and food was great, we had no complaints. The hotel is in a great spot for exploring and getting to bars / resteraunts. We found a lovely bar called spanglish on the seafront...which we would go and watch the sunset with a few cocktails after dinner. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it. The sunbed situation wasnt too bad...you just have to play the game and get up and put your towels out.no point complaining about it. I used to go down at 8am ish then go back to bed. We did see more sunbeds being delivered whilst we were there...so the hotel are listening to peoples reviews.More
