The Catalonia Punta del Rey comes up trumps on the pool and food front. Plus, it’s close to a load of black-sand beaches.
Everything’s within easy reach of this place, including bars, restaurants and beaches. You’ll hit the first black-sand cove in a few minutes’ walk. And you can bus it to the capital, Santa Cruz, in 20 minutes.
It’s the massive pool area that steals the show here. It comes with a split-level pool, a huge sun terrace and a snack bar. Meanwhile, grown-ups get their own deck, which is stocked with whirlpools.

The hotel is brilliant if you're going all inclusive the food is great. They've got a good variety for breakfast and dinner especially. The rooms are clean and fresh everyday after mid day, the weather in Tenerife can be cloudy in the morning but it's been great so far. They have a little private place with some sun beds right by the rocks where the sea is with an amazing view and a all day mini bar. It's worth the money, one downfall of the hotel is that people get in the queue for the sun beds at , at least half 7 in the morning, not sure wether it gets passed down from person to person but the sun beds by the pool are very competitive, although quite a few always become free during the afternoon and there is a quite beach area across the road other than that I would recommend. They have fun games on in the day such as water polo etc, along with aqua fitness. More
Love the Hotel but.
I'm on my last day of a 2 week A.I. at the Punta Del Ray in Caletillas,in Tenerife on the northeast coast. The hotel couldn't be any better for you, everything was nice and clean, rooms done every day. There was the usual entertainment through out the day and night. The poolside was very popular, beds all reserved well before breakfast.Only one complaint and it is a biggy. The surrounding area is very steep, getting down to the beach and the shopping precinct next to it is a good 20 walk. And that is downhill.Coming back up would take considerably longer with having to stop every few minutes to catch your breath.I don't know because I'm not fit enough to do it,my wife Linda did and told me not to even think about it. She said once she got down their it's not very nice on the "beach".Black shingle and rocks.Would i come here again,no,but that's not against the hotel which is a good 4star Hotel.More

Better then expected
A last minute decision for a quick 4 days away with the mother before summer really kicked off and I've gotta say pleasantly surprised! Considering all the feedback I read after booking it wasn't amazing I was genuinely very happy when I arrived at this hotel! Brilliant pool and facilities all round! The room was great with a bath and shower and lovely view of the ocean. The bed was massive and I mean massive had call my mom on her mobile just to talk to her it was that big 😂 The food was tasty with food available all day with many options ! The only negative thing I would say is that there was no fridge in the room so was unable to keep water bottles cool if bought. Also I wasn't allowed to take bottled water from downstairs into my room as the bottle was glass even though they left a complimentary bottle on our first night in a glass bottle? So this rule was stupid and made no sense. Other then that everything was hunky dory ! I would defo stay again!More
Travelled with my Partner looking for a week of relaxation to recharge our batteries in the sun. Hotel - Good Staff - Great (see PS) Location - 20 minutes by taxi from airport Room - Pool and Sea View. Great shower and quite simply the best hotel bed I have ever slept in! Memory foam mattress and super queen size! Food - best All Inclusive food I have come across. Great choice, clean, no reports of any tummy problems from anyone. Pool - plenty of sunbeds. Although gobsmacked by the 8.15 run by people on holiday to get "the best". You crack me up! The long and short of it we will return again for a week of sun when we see a special offer pop up. Well run hotel. Not for the party going 18-30 groups! PS Message to the manager. Your staff are a credit to you and very welcoming. However Pedro Luis on the reception desk is the ruddest man and seriously needs to have some Customer Relation training. I did ask to speak to you but not surprisingly he refused to get you. If you would like to discuss this matter please feel free to do so. Room 716 9th-16th June. More
You pay for what you get and I can't say we had any problems with the hotel for the price we paid. The food was varied every day with plenty of choice though as pointed out can be luke warm. The rooms were air conditioned and comfortable as well as being cleaned every day. There is only one socket so bring an extension. Location wise it's in a residential area but has restaurants etc within 5 minute walk towards Candelaria and the bus takes you straight into Santa Cruz for just over two euros. The only downside for us was the queue for the opening of the pool area and for the sundbeds first thing in the morning. Literally back to reception most days. The pool area opens at 8 so if you snooze you lose. All in all a nice relaxing week.More
