Great hotel - Fab location
This is a great hotel to stay at. Good price, excellent location. Right across from the beach, which was great that you could be on the beach and 30 seconds back to the hotel. They also have one of those foot showers outside the hotel which is really handy. We had a quick check in, paid â¬2.50 per day at reception for the safe, they brought us 2 glasses of orange juice during check in which was a great touch. Room was great, limited sea view on the 6th floor. Clean, tidy, modern, comfy beds, lots of hangers. Didn't use the coffee facilities. Not much general noise from below, a little from the bars at night but even with the door open we slept. There was a lot of building work from the hotel next door, drilling and deliveries from 8am which was a little annoying. Bathroom was great, a real power shower which cud blow a hole in you. The maids were about every day to clean, we skipped a few days as we didn't need it. Make sure to put towels in the bath if you want them changing. Pool was great, not too cold, relaxed atmosphere, didn't struggle to get a sunbed at all although not sure about the height of summer. The pool could do with some music to give a bit of life. Pool bar is currently closed but the inside bar served drinks all day. Didn't try the snacks but they looked ok. Food was ok, I'm fussy but managed to get something every meal we went too. Plenty of variety, some things were a bit cold by the time you ate them but it's a big buffet to keep warm. Lots to choose from and ice cream to cool you down. Just a hint, when you go for dinner and lunch they swipe your card which is used for all inclusive. They ask if you want a drink, if you are all inclusive you aren't being charged it's just to check your allowance, we got a little worried and asked. Didn't see much entertainment but what we did see was ok, standard for hotel entertainment. The bar is generous with it's All Inclusive measures in the spirits. Cocktails were good to try. We went with Thomson, rep was there every day for questions. Great location to the beach, shops outside the hotel, McDonald's, bars, cafes and reastaurants within a couple of minutes walk. We also had the surprise of a car rally taking place right outside which was great. The staff we saw were friendly and helpful. We went to Jungle Parque which was great, under â¬10 for taxis to there and places like Siam park. We took the free bus to go to JP which is a bout a 10 min walk from the hotel, the Siam bus looked very busy so maybe worth the cheap taxi to save the hassle. We could get the free wifi all over the hotel, it was slow when lots of people were about but a great bonus to be able to get it by the room and pool. All in all a fab hotel for a nice weeks break.More
More like a 3*
Just got back from a weeks stay at Hotel Troya and I would say it is not a 4* at all. Let's start with the bad points... The food is terrible. Always cold and repetitive. Not much choice if you're travelling with kids unless they live on chips for the week. There is two microwaves in the restaurant to heat the food up so they're clearly aware their food is cold. We had to eat out in the end. You have to pay 25 Euros for the use of a fridge in your room which I think is ridiculous. Never heard of that before. You also have to pay 15 Euros just to use the indoor pool. We didn't want to as the weather was amazing but thought the use of the indoor pool would be included I paid for late check out till 6pm when I booked the holiday. However, on our last day we were told we could not have the room until that time and our room card was stopped at 12pm. I argued this with them and they let us have the room till 6 eventually. If you don't book late check out when you book the holiday and ask for it when you're there it's 10.70 Euros per HOUR. It seems they do all they can to get money out of you Some staff can be quite rude and are not that good at speaking English. There is only one bar open for everyone in the hotel to use. They are 'renovating' the outdoor bar but no work was done when we were there. Now the good points... the rooms are clean and comfortable. The beds are super comfy. A lot of people complain about the noise but our room over looked the strip and we didn't hear anything at all The pool area is clean and always plenty of choice of sun beds. The hotel said they were full the week we were there but it was not busy It was our anniversary so we asked if it was at all possible for a room upgrade. They couldn't accommodate this but instead put a bottle of champagne in our room for our arrival which was a nice little touch Free wifi all around the hotel. It can be a little bit slow sometimes but it's free so that's all that matters. All in all it was an enjoyable stay but we would not return to this hotel.More
Really nice stay
Stayed here for a week with my boyfriend and all in all had a really really lovely week away and wish I was back in Tenerife! We arrived Sunday 7th may at around 10:30pm. On arrival we had a quick check- in, but no welcome drink was received? We were handed a bag with sandwiches, drinks and fruit in which was a nice gesture. ROOM AND HOTEL- The hotel lobby was big and modern and really nice decor. We were on the second floor and for us the room was fine. Two single beds pushed together but comfy enough. It wasn't what I was used to in a hotel as there was no mini fridge to store water or snacks in so the water we bought was always warm, and it was â¬25 for a week for the fridge. Two big wardrobes and large mirrors and the bathroom was big enough. It was generally a nice room. LOCATION- Veronica's strip is bang next to the hotel, we didn't realise this so if your looking for something abit more quiet then maybe look elsewhere, however the noise didn't bother us as when you shut the balcony door your couldn't hear anything, it was more on a night when you were walking around as we weren't looking for a party holiday! We had a view of the pool and you could see the beach as it's bang in front of the beach, so that's a plus! It's in a good location for the sea front as there are loads of lovely resteraunts and obviously the strip for bars and clubs, or if you walk further there's more quiet bars. All in walking distance though. POOL- The pool was really nice! Loads of sun loungers free which was good as it's the worst when people go down first thing in the morning and reserve sunbeds. Always guaranteed one no matter what time of the day. The pool was also really big. There is music on in the morning from aqua Zumba but it stops later which was a let down as it would make it a lot better if there was music on all day for abit of background music! BOARD- We went half board so we got breakfast and tea. I'm not a fussy eater but my boyfriend didn't like a lot of the food that was on and it wasn't GREAT but it was okay. Could of been more choice maybe. But just warning people if you go half board be careful of drink prices! â¬2.50 for a bottle of water and we had some vodka slushes for â¬6 each! They were really expensive. We ate out 4/7 nights. Breakfast was okay. The food was average and nothing special. STAFF- Now this was the worst bit- the staff!!! SOME of the staff in the resteraunt were so moody, don't think I ever saw some of them smile! They came up and said 'card' and walked off. When I went to reception a man and a woman were both talking away, I was stood there for 10 minutes. They BOTH looked at me and carried on talking!! How rude! I work in customer service and I would probably get sacked if I did that! Some of the staff were helpful but some were downright rude. It's your job! We had an issue on check out as we paid for 7 days yet because we were half board, we checked out at 12 noon and couldn't have our dinner in the hotel that night. However I think it was the manager who came out and spoke to us and he was really nice, he explained it to us in detail why it was like that and to go to thompson and speak to them and then come back to him if we resolved it. I would like to thank him for actually being helpful and seeming like he wanted to help us! Overall we had an amazing holiday and even though there was a few mis-haps it is a really nice hotel. More
Not a 4 star
On a arrival we were greeted with a friendly face and given our room keys. I noticed that on other posts everyone had been greeted by a welcome drink we didn't receive this. I also told the receptionist that I had upgraded the room and she confirmed this. But got no information about how our key worked or what was included in our room upgrade. Once arriving in our room it was a good size and clean with the view looking onto the pool and half sea view. Was very disappointed when we realised you have to pay to use the fridge/minibar. Even the tea/coffee aren't free in the room. It's also costs you to hire towels and if u want to change your dirty towel for a clean one it's 1euro every time! We felt the food wasn't very great not a big selection for a 4 star hotel. You also use your room key as your card to put your drinks on and pay the bill at the end of the week which I think would not suit everyone. Entertainment was rather dull. Our room was on the 5th floor which gave great views but was very noisy right up till 4am because you are so central but this is not the hotels fault. I would not recommend this hotel am afraid , staff are not very welcoming, u have to pay for everything never had this before in a hotel. Which is a shame as it was very clean and central. More
