The Sol Tenerife brags an in-the-thick-of-things location, with a beach in one direction and Playa de las Americas’ nightlife in the other.
If we could give this hotel any postcode, it’d probably be 90210. Everything’s in easy reach – there’s a beach in front of you, a bar-lined strip behind, and the famous Siam Park waterpark just 20 minutes’ wander away.
The property’s designers took advantage of its beachfront address, carving a couple of pools into a sea-view terrace. Other deal-breakers include sports courts and a packed entertainment schedule.

Excellent value for money
I stayed at the Sol Tenerife at the end of April 2017 for a week, travelling with one friend, both in our early thirties. Despite being initially put off by the reviews on here I have to say that I am so glad we booked to stay at the Sol Tenerife. We requested a quiet room in advance and were allocated 666 in B block which was perfect as it was on the opposite side to the notorious Veronica's Strip with a partial sea view. Positives (which by far outweigh the negatives) - Amazing location on the beach and you can walk all the way along to the other resorts in both directions. Right beside Veronica's but we gave this a wide berth. - Check in was efficient and all staff were very friendly throughout the stay including the bar staff. - Room was dated but this was expected given the price paid (£480 for a week AI) and was cleaned every single day with clean towels every day and clean sheets provided three times. There was a fridge for keeping drinks (and chocolate) cool and a small area for preparing food. The bathroom was much larger than usually encountered abroad and the shower was nice and powerful. There was plenty of storage space including a large double wardrobe and chest of dearer so. Flat screen TV although we never used this. - 2 pools and there were always plenty of sunbeds available, when people arrived late the lifeguard seemed to find spares! The upstairs pool was heated when we were there and was lovely and warm, I never used the main pool. - Plenty of activities going on through the day including aqua fit, and yes there are stag and hen dos but we never had any problems at all, I recommend the upstairs pool as it is usually more couples and smaller groups of friends. - AI drinks were spot on - usual local branded spirits (all of which were lovely barring the dark rum), sangria, wine, cava, beer, cocktails, hot drinks, soft drinks and bottles of water. - I couldn't fault the AI food, wide variety at breakfast and lunch with hot food, wide range of salads, deserts and fresh fruit readily available. Food in the AI snack area was lukewarm but acceptable. We ate out every night so I cannot comment on that. NEGATIVES - Only one plug socket in the room which is a nightmare when trying to charge phones, toothbrushes, use the hairdryer and straighteners etc. This also meant unplugging the TV which was not an issue for us but I can see this being annoying if the kids wanted a cartoon on in the evening! - A few nights we were awoken by rowdy guests fighting in the corridor and knocking on the doors but I cannot blame the hotel for this and we never actually reported it as another guest usually told them to quieten down (I'm being polite). Overall I had a wonderful stay at the Sol Tenerife, it is not 4 star but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality given the price paid and would not hesitate in staying again.More
Thick twice before going.
Noisy music untill 4am from Veronica's, could not sleep till music stopped. Moved room second night, had to fight for it but worth the upset. Food was terrible always cold and catered mainly for Spanish. In house entertainment was very poor and staff very unfriendly. Hotel is in dire need of refurbishing. Would go back to Tenerife but not to the Sol Tenerife Hotel.More
Don't stay here if you are a vegetarian
I have been staying at this hotel for four days and have another six days to go and am having a terrible job with the food. It's completely down to the labelling or lack of it in the serve yourself restaurant. I understood that by law all food had to be labelled with at least what it is. Around a quarter of everything in the buffet has no label at all and of the rest the labels are vague to say the least. For instance tonight there's a tray described as 'nuggets' with further detail using icons saying that it contains soya, wheat, milk and eggs. When I asked what was in them I was told chicken! They weren't soya nuggets at all! The staff were perplexed when I suggested that it might be useful to mention on the label that they contained chicken. This is just one example of many. Salads are described as 'rice salad' when they contain tuna, pizza slices have small pieces of bacon in them when you inspect them closely. I brought this to the attention of reception staff three days ago and nothing has changed. If it does before I leave in 6 days I'll amend this review.More
Absolute nightmare of a hotel. Served uncooked chicken skewers on one lunchtime.Plenty of variety but after a bad experience we choose to eat away from this hotel. Only one pool in operation so complex was over crowded .NO sun beds during the whole stay. Plenty of Hen and stag parties staying within the complex. Evening entertainment was good but only lasted about an hour.Struggled to find any comfortable seating during much of the evening, but a patio chair was often available. Hotel in need of major updates,no way is this a 4 star. Music from the nightclubs very disturbing.we stayed on the 10th floor ,nightmare. Requested a double bed but unfortunately this was a straight no no .single beds uncomfortable but extra blankets were available. Staff were friendly . Wi-fi very intermittent, most of the time no single in the roomMore
