The Sol Tenerife brags an in-the-thick-of-things location, with a beach in one direction and Playa de las Americas’ nightlife in the other.
If we could give this hotel any postcode, it’d probably be 90210. Everything’s in easy reach – there’s a beach in front of you, a bar-lined strip behind, and the famous Siam Park waterpark just 20 minutes’ wander away.
The property’s designers took advantage of its beachfront address, carving a couple of pools into a sea-view terrace. Other deal-breakers include sports courts and a packed entertainment schedule.

Not bad.....but not exactly the greatest
We stayed here for a week using the half board option as I had a week of activities planned, so wouldn't have been in for lunch. This provided breakfast and dinner, with drinks not included and having the chance to swap dinner for lunch if you wanted to go out in the evening...which wasn't a bad compromise. The room we were offered was in block B, seaside view, but one on the corners so we had a view of the beach as well as the road to the back looking at the free bus stop. The room was three single beds as we had our 5 year old with us. A bit cramped with three beds if you ask me. There was enough storage space and mirrors all round for those who like to look there best. The bathroom had a bath and one of those wash things that we thought was a urinal but on second thought may not have been. There is NO iron or iron board in the room. The iron you had to rent from reception for €20 for 3 hours and still no ironing board! The room whilst tidied every day could do with some renovations as it's rather dated in decor. It had a fridge and safe which you had to pay for as well...but it was comfy to sleep on. Food in the restaurant was just ok. Some looked appealing and others could have done with a bit more colour to it, especially the sausages they had on offer for breakfast, which we only had twice as we just couldn't rouse in time for it. They had kids club with mini disco at nights. We were out during the day so cannot comment on kids club. We looked at the mini disco a few nights and staff could have done a better job there to encourage the shy kids like my son to take part, but instead when he felt pushed out and went to the side, the entertainer was like 'so what are you doing here', my son started tearing up at that point so we got him off the stage. Adult evening entertainment was good for a few of the nights, in particular the night of the acrobats...and folks enjoyed the Mama Mia show a lot. My biggest compliment goes to the staff, they were really friendly and professional. People have commented about the noise but that's not something that we noticed or weren't too bothered about, maybe because we were up late anyway rather than trying to sleep early. We booked this hotel particularly for the free Wi-Fi. It worked for me on the first three days and then wouldn't connect properly after that...not allowing me to check emails or use whatsapp.More
Very friendly staff for such a large hotel
Joined a group of friends here for a weeks break, they booked before us and we were initially put off by historic reviews. We were placed in block B which is the one you need to avoid the noise from Veronica's Strip which would have made sleeping difficult in Block A. Hotels entertainment finishes at 12 so no noise on that score. Food was a pleasant surprise choice excellent quality very good although as is usual in most self service environments the temperature is not good enough for us. Bar staff were excellent always cheerful and helpful, their job is difficult because there are about 8 different types of arm band differentiating different board basis. restaurant staff very efficient and friendly only staff not as great were reception who appeared to be understaffed and under pressure and therefore not keen to spend time with guests. Plenty of room around pools and always beds available, a few extra small tables alongside the beds would be useful to put drinks on. Wi fi works well around pool but not brilliant in the rooms. Watch out for the password changing which happens weekly? without warning during which time couldn't log on until complained and found out problem. Air conditioning adequate in rooms although don't switch the power off when you leave your room otherwise the plug sockets to recharge your electronic equipment or AC won't work. The man working in the snack bar in the afternoons was brilliant he really made a fuss of his guests. Nothing was ok much trouble.More
Really clean hotel with a nice fresh smell. Lovely cool area with bar. Stunning views from our balcony (we had sea view) overall we had an amazing stay and would defiantly come back. The hotel itself is exactly what you will get for a 4 star. loved the fact that the maid would change the sheets and towels everyday at 9am (sometimes a bit too early) but you can't complain about that! Entertainment is brilliant. Amazing dancers and performances. When we stayed here i was actually surprised about the mix of guests that there was. there was groups of friends, couples and families with small babies. From the area that the hotel is in (las americas), you would expect it would be all groups of teens, but it's defiantly far from that at sol Tenerife. The location is absolutely perfect. Close to the strip of bars, restaurants, beach, Siam water park, zoos etc. Defiantly a holiday destination for the active. I can see a lot of people are talking about the noise from the strip. I can honestly say it depends on where abouts you stay in the hotel. There are 2 massive tall buildings and one side facing the strip, the other side the beach. Me and my partner were facing the sea and honestly did not hear a thing (sometimes we were the people at the strip ahah) but when we had nights in at the hotel and went up about 12am, did not hear a thing apart from the staff cleaning up the bar outside. However, we did meet a couple out there who had a room facing the strip- I can see why people get a little frustrated but it's nothing too bad. The only thing I would put a damper on is the food and drinks. Generally the food is really nice but could do with a bit more variety. Also I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have pure orange juice with no bits. The 'pure orange juice' they had tasted like it was from a cardboard carton from a kids tuck shop. But ay you can't let orange juice spoil your holiday! Also if your planning the get a bit tipsy at the hotel it's a bit difficult to do so! The alcohol is very much watered down and not once did I get drunk by the pool even though I was drinking all day!! However When you go outside the hotel and order a double vodka and coke its practically just vodka and that's all you need for night ! another thing, the rooms are a tad on the dated side, could do with a refurb of some sort. But very clean and fresh. Overall - great holiday and looking forward to coming back! More
Much better than reviews
I recently stayed at sol tenerife with my girlfriend and child aged 6 but felt worried as I checked reviews after booking and saw about how loud it was at night and people couldn't sleep but I stayed there for a fortnight landing back 05/05/17.none of us had a problem sleeping at all. We went all inclusive breakfast ok dinner ok tea ok but not really for us as didn't have much choice for children however the snack bar lapalapa served chicken nuggets burgers and toasties etc which we used a lot.hotel very clean.staff extremely friendly and welcoming and very good with kids. Clean towels in room everyday. Good pool entertainment.overall we had a lovely holiday and are looking to go back as soon as October.More
We spent a week here and were really pleased with our choice. On check-in, we were greeted with champagne and water, with a very helpful trainee (Beatrix) who made sure that we had everything that we needed before heading up to our room. Breakfasts are great - the buffet offers a wide selection so you can get whatever takes your fancy and stock up before you head off on a trip / to spend the day by the pool. We didn't eat here in the evenings because we wanted to explore the area so can't comment on those. We charged up our room with €100 so that we could get things from the pool bar as we wanted - seems like a good idea because you're not then worrying about leaving money etc around if you're swimming. They are then refunding what hasn't been spent, so a good way to deal with needing a drink in the middle of the day without having to think about cash. The two pools are really good - the top one is quieter, as they have a pool party for kids at midday(ish) - we couldn't go on the beach due to my husband being on crutches so it was good to be able to relax by the pool even with the inflatables and everything else going on downstairs. We got lunch from the pool bar as well one day and were really pleased with how much good food we got for a cheap price. The rooms are clean and spacious - really nice to get a balcony with every room and the showers had good power (always a big thing for me!!). For a hotel that holds 550 people, it never felt crowded in the restaurant or by the pool. We were in tower A, which is really noisy from the strip - apart from asking the Lava club to turn off their outdoor speakers there's not much that the hotel can do about it... I guess contacting to ask to be in tower B would help with this but I was quite happy to pop some earplugs in and my husband wasn't bothered by it. We went for this with a last-minute purchase and wanted to stick with the Sol/Melia group because we'd had a good experience elsewhere and we weren't disappointed. Already talking about coming back!More
