At a glance
The Algarve stretches from the Spanish border along more than a hundred kilometres of rugged coastline and golden beaches to the dominating cliffs of St Vincent. The influence of the Moors who once occupied the land can still be seen today in the architecture, music and language of the area. The Algarve attracts thousands of holidaymakers year after year thanks to its excellent beaches with odd and spectacular rock formations jutting precariously out to sea. The area is also famous for its sports activities, particularly golf and tennis, and its picture postcard narrow streets of whitewashed houses, colourful boats, markets and pavement cafes.

Shopping
Hand made tiles, brassware, cork, textiles, leather goods are the bargains you'll take home with you. Shops are open from about 09:00 - 13:00 and from 15:00 - 19:00 Monday to Friday. Closed Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday.
Markets: Held in different towns on different days, these markets are always great places to shop for souvenirs. They are held in the mornings, 9:00 to 13:00.
