Gold Travelife Award

The Gold Travelife Award is awarded to hotels that are leading the way, with advanced environmental practices; they encourage others, look for ways to improve and communicate their work.
This hotel has drawn a winning straw location-wise. Laid out in vast grounds, it’s just footsteps from the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea. Plus a 30 minute taxi ride gets you to Naama Bay.

On the looks front, it’s gone for a modern interpretation of old-world Arabia. Think low-rise buildings punctuated with watchtower-style turrets. It’s grouped around an enormous paved terrace with four pools.

If you’re in need of some pampering, the hotel spa deserves some attention. Offering a range of me-time massages and beauty treatments, it’s complemented by a health centre. On the sportier side of things, you’ll also find a beach volleyball court, tennis and a gym.

Looks-wise the hotel is fronted by fountains and stately arcades reminiscent of classical Rome. Step through and you’re greeted by the lobby. All archways, chandeliers and colonnades, it’s glamorous without being glitzy.

The bedrooms, meanwhile, have a classic feel. The standard ones are dressed in warm shades like muted plums and magnolias. They’ve also been given nice little refinements like LCD TVs, minibars and furnished balconies or terraces.

About Sharm El Sheikh

  • Sharm el-Sheikh is one of the most accessible and developed tourist resort communities on the Sinai peninsula. • In fact, with diving and snorkelling, windsurfing and other water sports, camel riding, desert safaris, and great nearby accessible attractions, it is impossible for a visitor to ever suffer from boredom here!
  • The fabled reefs of the Ras Mohammad marine park and the offshore reefs of the Straits of Tiran are within easy reach of Sharm El Sheikh for some truly memorable dive sites.
  • Sample the desert on your visit to Sharm El Sheikh with a camel ride followed by a Bedouin dinner under the stars.
  • Authentic Egyptian culture can be found in the resort's arab bazaars and local shops while Sharm's nightlife rivals any modern resort with plenty of restaurants and live shows on offer.
  • For those who live to shop, the Sharm El Sheikh mall provides shops with both foreign and local products, including jewellery, leather goods, clothing, pottery and books.
  • In the greater resort area of Sharm el Sheikh, the bays include, from south to north, Sharm el Maya, Naama Bay, Garden Bay, Shark's Bay and Nabq Bay.
  • For local excursions, a must see is St. Catherine's Monastery at the foot of Mount Sinai, while further afield you can visit the Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza and the tombs and temples at Luxor.
