Gran Canaria with its excellent climate has a landscape of such contrasting scenery that it has been labelled a "Continent in Miniature". Its sharp ravines plunge 2,000 metres to sea level and are dramatically picturesque while the undulating dunes give a distinctly African flavour. Towards the north you will find sweeping hills, cool breezes and luscious banana, tomato and vine plantations. The pine forests and the many mountain retreats are pleasant diversions to the warm beaches and bustling resort life. The beaches range from small secluded coves to soft shimmering sand. Nightlife is vibrant with a variety of restaurants, bars and discos bustling with locals and visitors alike.
